      @@champtech8755 because in the social media age, if you just look at someone in the wrong direction, you'll hear a complaint. I've never read anything bad about this guy and its not hard these days to hear "bad reviews". You know his shops name, look up the google reviews. Don't just be a negative nancy while being out of context and generalize everything. In case you can't comprehend what context is, we are talking about this mechanic, not the industry as a whole as you are suggesting. If I based all the comments on the internet off yours, the world will look very grim too.

    A car lasting 600k+ miles, even with impeccable maintenance, is very impressive. What makes this car so special is that it lasted that long with a SKETCHY service history! It's a tad bittersweet because this is a level of robustness that very few modern vehicles can match thanks their insane complexity, probably even from Toyota/Lexus.

    I have a 2004 LS 430 that my wife and I had planned to drive into the ground. One owner, like this one, out of Santa Barbara with meticulous service history. Unofrtunately, she was involved in a hit and run and they wanted to total the vehicle out because of a bumper cover and fender that needed to be replaced. A little back and forth with the insurance company and they finally decided that it's worth more than they originally determined and it is no longer a total loss! We are in the process of getting it repaired and can't wait to have it back. It has 170K miles on it and clearly has a ton of life left in it. Our plan to drive it into the ground lives on! I will be following your videos on this LS 430 very very closely.

      Good for you for having the back and forth with the insurance company. Most people probably just give up and go along, figuring "what chance do I have to change the insurance company's decision?" There are decent, reasonable people everywhere, even in the much maligned insurance business.

    wow I went and looked at its carfax history and it is an impressive vehicle. one of the highest mileage cars I have ever seen. It was in an accident when it had around 100k miles on it but airbags did not deploy. D&S autocare in washington did the majority of the work on that car.

    I own two LS 430's, an 03' and an 04" ( I Have owned 5 in total LS 430's) the ones I own now both at 65K miles each, I had all the newer models LS460 and LS500-crap of a car! I just finally gave up and went back to the old school 01'-06" models which are bank vaults.......they just do not make them like they used to. I love driving these cars every day and alternate between the two to keep the miles the same. I saw the car you bought as the 600K miles caught my eye and I thought it still was a very nice looking car, great buy! Love your videos!

    Great idea! I used to live in the PNW and actually bought a GX from Lexus of Bellevue. Anyway, my boss back in the early 2000s told me WA was a car person's paradise as the mild winters and rain and lack of salt made it so they don't rot or rust. I did see a lot of classic cars as daily drivers there, many diesel Mercedes and old Datsuns and Subarus. I heard they started salting the roads after 'snowmageddon' so maybe this old tale no longer applies. It was definitely worth it to get XPEL or 3M PPF to protect from those rock chips up there as some folks kept their snow tires or studs on in the summer and tore up the roads.

    This will be an awesome series, we'll have to start calling Amd Hoovie 2. 😁 The big plus for this LS is that it didn't live in the rust belt. Remember folks, OEM parts is the only way to go. Seeing that aftermarket oil filter made me cringe thinking the oil change was probably done at the Jiffy Lube. 🤮Looking forward to my appointment at your shop next week! 18 Lexus owner here never driven in the winter.

      Oem parts are NOT the way to go alot of the time for alot of reasons, some being aftermarket sometimes fixes weak or badly designed original parts. Also, some cars simply don't require a part 3 times the cost of aftermarket for the car to work or be safe. Not including that some oem parts are just outright scams that cost more than the value of the car.

    • @doomkid02
      @doomkid02 Рік тому +4

      @@J_h_420it depends honestly, my window motor went out on my 97 tacoma a while back. Check pricing on a oem Denso unit and price was over $400 for the motor alone. Ended up ordering a regulator and motor combo from RockAuto (picked the Aisin brand) for about $50. 6 months later still works great.

And the LS400 has been done so really like this and idea that it will still be pristine at a million miles 👍🏻 My 07 sc430 is my favorite car I’ve ever had and like you say only genuine parts and it’s flawless LIFE IS GOOD 🤙🏻

    Not all aftermarket parts are junk. I've done my brakes with Brembo parts, for instance, and they are good quality. There are also aftermarket parts identical with the OEM, just w/o the logo and w/o the premium price tag. And with old cars, many times you get what you can find...
