This might be one of the wildest famiclones I've seen. The fact they went to the effort of not only making it look like an old Windows PC, but also adding TV input and a (limited) media centre blows my mind!
I can not even start to work out what the thought process was for this thing. was it always a famiclone and they added the other bits, or did it start off as a media player and realize they had an emulator sat around they could slap on it as well.
@@GouldFishOnGames I know there's a "windows 95" nes rom, but they clearly reskinned a small front end for that and it uses way more colours than the nes palette so I suppose that's native amd then it launches an emulator, or it's based on some bizarre SoC that also has nes compatibility somehow? Who knows
in the 90's subor produced a famiclone with nintendo basic on it plus a mouse and a built in keyboard thing even had a working serial out for a printer finding one today is hard and when you do find them theyre always well over a hundred dollars used and old
Thanks! Its wonderfully weird isn't it 😁 as soon as I spotted it I just knew I had to grab one, even if suspecting what it might end up being. Just a shame it doesn't have Galaxy 5000 on it.
2:00 - Ha, instant bluescreen. The Windows XP nostalgia really bursts from this unis. I'm convinced they do make these kinda clone consoles like this on purpose too, knowing that people will see it and thinks "That's awful, I need one now" haha.
Its that fine line between being too good and thus costs too much for an impulse buy. and too cheap that you can spot its going to be really bad from a mile away 😁
What a delightfully silly little thing. I can see it being a fun display piece, then when someone asks what it is, you can pull the "well, look, it actually WORKS!" thing and everyone can enjoy playing Mario on a 3-inch screen with a dodgy noise channel for five minutes. Completely useless, but a lot of fun nonetheless. I kind of want one.
This is both wonderful and horrible at the same time! It is so damn cute! Another one of those things I wouldn't mind to have on display, but at the end of the day, it is totally useless.
And now you know 😉 I wonder if they were showing this thing to anyone who was browsing it. or if it just happened to know that we would be interested in it.
The Mic, as you might expect is just as good as the rest of the machine. although it could be considered worse, as its a bad mic combined with a bad speaker 😁
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a plug n play IBM PC that came with a bunch of DOS games and Windows 3x games, bundled with a classic gamepad or joystick with computer and mouse support, and the ability to hook it up to a computer monitor display? It would be a lot better than what we have with this Chinese mock up computer thing
As bad the screen may be, what really baffles me is the abysmal quality of the speakers in all of the cheap knockoffs. Is it really that expensive to put a small decent speaker? This one sounds almost as bad as the Wiimote one.
You did warn me to watch you video before saying I want one. Tempted to say still better than my first Packard Bell. 😄 Seriously though it could be fun to rip it’s guts out & put a Vortex86EX SoC & brake out board in there to actually make it a tiny Windows 9x PC? Or a ROCK Pi X to run somewhat more modern software? You could also go with a good old Raspberry Pi? Fun video, thanks.
Thanks mate. Amazingly there is a board inside that isn't just a epoxy blob, but I couldn't find any details on the chips. the best we could guess was some SMT32 clone, it had the label "14D WPPNW07.00 1936" I was thinking of putting it in the video but with nothing to go on, it didn't feel like it added anything. I'm sure it could be reprogrammed with something better.
You are asking what this thing is? It's a mimic! Like those in the JRPG games. It may look like a usable item, but is a monster in disguise and will probably kill you.
12:23 BOOOOOOO I came here specifically to see if there were bags of silica inside all the devices looking like smuggled drugs. You missed out bigtime on some potential hilarity.
I was so worried that I'd break it and then need to record some extra footage that I didn't open it until after the video was released. and yes there were little sand bags in some of the bits.
This thing seems to be quite old. I dont think its designed to twang on our nostalgia strings, but rather get around the Chinese console ban back in the day. I bet this is why the Emulation is bad and probably a very slow chip. Super interesting thing though. Thanks for sharing.

7:15 Notice the powerups and plants go through the top layer of the pipes/blocks, this also happens on the NES emulator for the PSX
I'm going to guess its a commonly used emulator that they threw onto the device.
I wouldn't be surprised to find it on quite a few machines.
That thing is so utterly bizarre and a bit rubbish that I kind of love it. Great video as always!
Thanks!

May I just say, that yours is one of the most interesting retro-tech channels I’ve bumped into in ages! Subbed
Thank you so much for saying that!
I hope you enjoy the content, I tend to focus on Amiga and PC but like to branch out to oddities like this.
Thank you for buying this and making a video. I found this because I was drawn in on aliexpress just like you!
Its such an odd device, that I had to grab it.
not sure if I've resulted in more or less of them being sold 😁
@@GouldFishOnGames I can confirm at least one less for me haha
7:55 if you have more than two buttons on a famiclone the extra buttons are usually turbo fire.
This was way better than I expected to be honest, the fact that you can plug pretty much anything on its tiny monitor is not bad at all!
I would be like YOOOO RATE MY GAMING SET UP 😭
Hahaha, I never even thought about the Rate my Gaming Setup 😂
THAT IS SO COOL!!!!! omfg i need one of these in my life??? i wonder if it’s a VT-series chip, really impressive how it perfectly plays MJPEG ; w ;
That was an adorably bizarre thing! I like all the cables and extra faffing involved with TWO power buttons!
do i need an additional cable to connect my n64 to this monitor? if i do please tell me what i need to buy!
watched the vid several times and still haven't figured out how to connect the rca cable into this thing
I used 3.5mm male jack to 2 female RCA connectors.
the 3.5mm jack goes into the monitor and then you use the regular composite RCA cables.
Thanks!@@GouldFishOnGames
What an intriguing little device!
This is amazing 😄 I actually want one now 🤣
I hope I don't end up making this thing popular and they end up jacking up the price.

this thing looks amazing would have been cool if they made it bigger and used raspberry pi in it
Yeah, I'm sure modders would go crazy for this thing if it was bigger.

It should make for an interesting photo frame, I hadn't thought of that.

At least it has a cute gimmick
Its what made me buy it in the first place 😉
Always here for a red dwarf reference
As soon as I got the thing, I had that thumbnail in mind.
2:58 HOLY SHIT THATS CRAZY ERROR THAT WAS SO UNEXPECTED
No one ever expects the Crazy Error!
