Hi Helene, I'm 63 yrs old and I know that once pain of any kind registers in our brains, the memory of it is there forever. In other words, it's permanent. It then becomes our job to take control and outsmart the brain, so that it's not constantly bothering us with painful thoughts that we don't want to think about. Since the human mind can only think one ☝ thought at a time, I keep my mind busy with thoughts that make me happy. When a painful thought from the past creeps in, I immediately take charge and replace it with another happier thought, like with something I'm looking forward to doing later. It's called thought replacement. At the end of the day, there really is no such thing as emotional or thought "healing." I wish I started practicing thought replacement in my 20s! I would have been alot happier over the years. It takes constant effort but please try it and I hope it works for you like it works for me ❤
@@Sparkle835 thank you… I did practice that in my 20-30s because I was so busy. Now, my kids are grown and gone and not as much keeps me busy. But, yes, you are right. Thoughts are just clouds that dissipate. It’s the betrayal that hurts my soul.

I have a sister who called me "untrustworthy" (ouch!) because I broke a promise to her. Yes, I broke a promise I never should have made, in the best interest of myself and others. It doesn't involve repayment of money. I simply changed my mind about something, which I felt was my right to do. Consequently, she cast me aside like a bag of garbage and I haven't heard from her since. Do I feel bad? A little. But does life go on? Yes! And I'm not going to miss it because I'm brooding about our weak-as-water relationship. Life's too short. Grab up all the enjoyment you can. You won't be sorry.

Perhaps underlying jealousy or resentment, that she would choose to exploit something like that, versus understand it. Doesn't matter what you would have done, she would have found something somewhere
I came into a 12 step recovery group in the 80's. I've been on a spiritual quest since then. This came up while I was scrolling. I said to myself "I know that name". I googled her name saw her picture and I knew that face! When I began listening to this it was like I had heard her message before, but I had never read any of her books.
