And will I be able to put my mods cc and saves on it? And also will moving my sims 4 to external hard drive mess up my game and my mods cc and saves last question if l'm going to plan to get some dic packs will it be able to find my game on my external hard drive ? Please respond thank you
Okay so you will have to Change the location to instal the sims 4 onto the external harddrive. If it doesn’t work you may have to uninstall and then reinstall it to the external. Regarding saves, tray folder, mods, cc etc I would copy and paste the folders onto the desktop and copy them back in once you have installed the game fully to the external hard drive. Not to risk any files being replaced or deleted. I would recommend always backing up the save file no matter what. Especially when doing anything major to the game. Such as uninstalling/installing, updating, adding in new mods and cc. And if you have any weird bugs. I back up my save files all the time. Regarding disc I don’t know. As I don’t own any as discs only through the ea app. So I don’t know the rules with that unfortunately unless you add the code to the ea app then it works that way? The location of the sims 4 folder is still located in its usual place. There is a way to change that but I haven’t done that myself. In a future video maybe I could try and show everyone. But I don’t want to risk confusing my game so I’ve left it where it normally is and only moved the ‘games installed’ location to the external to save space. Hope this helped and thanks for watching my video ^_^

Looked it up I believe atm it’s about 60-70gb (googled. So not 100% accurte) so it should be okay. Recommend having it only for the sims 4. But I haven’t used one before only external so not 100% but by how much space it should be able to have the game on there :) (have to remember to always have it plugged in the same place before playing turning on the pc. No. You may have to uninstall in come cases to move it first. As long as you chose the external hard drive as the location to instal that’s where it will go when you first install it :)
I would recommend 1tb - 2tb 1tb should be more then enough :) if there is a deal on or something then go for 2tb if you have the money for it then you can always use it for other things too and have more then enough room ^^

Regarding deleting everything. I mean if you have the game installed already. You will have to uninstall and then reinstall it onto the external hard drive.
Why I say to back everything up as it might wipe your sims 4 folder. Once you reinstall you can add everything back x maybe keep the account data file too x
Do you have any tips on how to move the game and mods back to your pc from the hard drive ?
You would have to follow the steps again but move the location to the C or D drive on your pc. Meaning you will have to do a full reinstall but then its in the new location again
Thanks you so much for your helpppp 😭😭😭
You’re welcome x
Hi I’m struggling to get my game to download onto my external hard drive every time it gets to 100% the same message pops up every time saying “ Error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully, set up cannot continue. (False) “ I’ve spent countless hours trying to fix this problem and I’ve got no where any ideas?
Have you tried Googling the error message to see what it means? Sorry I was asleep and work now but I will take a look when I’m home to see if I can help you

Did you fix it?
Hey there so I'm getting a External USB Hard drive I want to know I have the sims 4 EA on my laptop and I have not installed the sims 4 yet I want to know when I change the location to move sims 4 to my external hard drive will my sims 4 folder show up on my external hard drive?
@@gamercharzard thank you very much ✌🏻😎
You’re welcome. Let me know if you get stuck and I’ll do my best to help ^^”
@@gamercharzard thank you I do have a question even though it’s late to cancel my order anyway does playing sims 4 in external hard drive slow down game performance? If it’s going to make the game take a while to load I will live with that
No. I have a gaming pc and sometimes it lags but that’s an in game bug. It doesn’t effect the performance. It helps with space on the pc is all :)
Ok so i did this but my mods still don’t appear
mods will be in the original location. Is the folder still on the computer? And have you enabled script in game?
I did that but my game won’t open can you help me?
Did you make sure to put the location to the external harddrive and select the correct folder. And you left the mods/saves folder in your documents
@@gamercharzard yeah I deleted it and downloaded it to my E drive
@@leeairascott7174 and it didn't work?
@@leeairascott7174 iam having the same problem. i even installed the ea app onto my other hard drive and dowloaded sims 3 (with the location being the new hard drive) the launcher opens but it says failed to start.
can i download sims 4 to external drive without moving the mods?
Yes. This is only moving the game files. Not the folder containing saves or mods.
Thank you so much!!!!
You're most welcome glad to help :)
Do you have to delete the game first then download it again?
Yea you might have to unfortunately. But then won’t have to again once installed on the external as I don’t think you can move the folder as it’s too big?
Can I move my mods folder with the game?
No it stays in the electronic folder on the pc for the game to recognise where it is. 😊
Will it work if you have a USB flash drive??
Honestly can not be sure as they don’t always have a lot of storage. Externals have 1 - 2TB
Need a lot of space for the game is all.
I have 512gb
Looked it up I believe atm it’s about 60-70gb (googled. So not 100% accurte) so it should be okay. Recommend having it only for the sims 4. But I haven’t used one before only external so not 100% but by how much space it should be able to have the game on there :) (have to remember to always have it plugged in the same place before playing turning on the pc. Recommend to leave in ^_^ .) hope this helped.
How can I move it from ps4 to pc?
Unfortunately you can not. You have to buy it separately. It’s not the same platform and runs differently.
Does the game have to be installed on your pc already??
No. You may have to uninstall in come cases to move it first. As long as you chose the external hard drive as the location to instal that’s where it will go when you first install it :)
ThankYou!
You’re welcome x
How do you move your mods???
It’s not for moving the folder containing the mods / saves etc. But just for the game files themselves.
Do you know what size external hard drive storage capacity would be most acceptable? (i just want the sims, no other games) please
I would recommend 1tb - 2tb
1tb should be more then enough :) if there is a deal on or something then go for 2tb if you have the money for it then you can always use it for other things too and have more then enough room ^^
How do I move the mods also?
No it stays in the electronic folder on the pc for the game to recognise where it is. 😊
@@gamercharzard nvm I did it myself
@@hanacharyislost5047how did you do it?
@@hanacharyislost5047can you tell me how you did it or send me a tutorial video please 😢
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Hi . I moved my game to my hard drive but it was still playing through the computer so I uninstalled it. When I reinstalled The Electronic Arts folder was gone . I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 4 time and the folder hasn’t come back
Did you backup your save files? I pinned the comment and always recommend to do that first. Is it not in your recycle bin?
The folder will reappear when you open the game but it will be a new one. When doing anything as I mentioned in the pinned comment always backup
@@gamercharzard yes I saved it to a usb drive . The folder was gone and new folders were in its place . So the game plays on my hard drive but the electronic folder/mods stays on my computer for whatever reason
@@dirlbaby05 yeah it does. Might make another video when I have time for full info
It moves the games not the folder. It just means that all the packs, kits etc don’t take any space on your computer. The folder I believe has to stay where it is in order for the game to locate it. I have a folder on my main pc and one on my laptop with different save files etc.
@@gamercharzard Ok so I redid everything and it works perfectly . Thank you so much
Thanks
You’re welcome
Mine won’t work 😢
Did it not move over?
@@gamercharzardmine is saying folder doesn’t exist when I made a new folder called new game idk what to do 😢
These videos suck cause I’m still having issues yet I followed this.
What kind of issues are you having?
When I changed my download location on the EA app it’s still not showing in my external drive. Do you know why ?
Have you placed them into a folder there? Have you chosen the right external hard drive?
Did you already have it installed when doing this step?
Happened to me too
This does not work nor does it change the where the game is installed originally.
is your game already installed?
@@gamercharzardI have the same issue and yes
@@romanenguetsop9494 you may have to move the folders or uninstall and then repeat the steps here and reinstall to that location
@@gamercharzard it worked!!! Now I’m just gonna try for my mods now
@@romanenguetsop9494 Glad it worked, there is a way to move the folder but I'm not sure how atm. Might try and find out and do a video on it eventually xD
