What kind of issues are you having?

Okay so you will have to Change the location to instal the sims 4 onto the external harddrive. If it doesn’t work you may have to uninstall and then reinstall it to the external. Regarding saves, tray folder, mods, cc etc I would copy and paste the folders onto the desktop and copy them back in once you have installed the game fully to the external hard drive. Not to risk any files being replaced or deleted. I would recommend always backing up the save file no matter what. Especially when doing anything major to the game. Such as uninstalling/installing, updating, adding in new mods and cc. And if you have any weird bugs. I back up my save files all the time. Regarding disc I don’t know. As I don’t own any as discs only through the ea app. So I don’t know the rules with that unfortunately unless you add the code to the ea app then it works that way? The location of the sims 4 folder is still located in its usual place. There is a way to change that but I haven’t done that myself. In a future video maybe I could try and show everyone. But I don’t want to risk confusing my game so I’ve left it where it normally is and only moved the ‘games installed’ location to the external to save space. @@gamercharzard thank you I do have a question even though it’s late to cancel my order anyway does playing sims 4 in external hard drive slow down game performance? If it’s going to make the game take a while to load I will live with that

No. I have a gaming pc and sometimes it lags but that’s an in game bug. It doesn’t effect the performance. It helps with space on the pc is all :)

When you say move the sims do you mean the game and the folders?

Yes. Poor guy could have made it if he latestee longer. So weird how they rather sleep then get food. I have to admit I was surprised the dog lived. Glad I put down two bowls of food for him. And tbh it latest so long.

You would have to follow the steps again but move the location to the C or D drive on your pc. Meaning you will have to do a full reinstall but then its in the new location again

Back up your save files and remove mods folder. Delete cache files and try again? Maybe repair the game?

Honestly can not be sure as they don’t always have a lot of storage. Externals have 1 - 2TB Need a lot of space for the game is all.

I have 512gb

Looked it up I believe atm it’s about 60-70gb (googled. So not 100% accurte) so it should be okay. Recommend having it only for the sims 4. But I haven’t used one before only external so not 100% but by how much space it should be able to have the game on there :) (have to remember to always have it plugged in the same place before playing turning on the pc. Recommend to leave in ^_^ .) hope this helped.

mods will be in the original location. Is the folder still on the computer? And have you enabled script in game?

I might be the speed of your internet maybe causing the issue? I’m not sure if you could move the folder itself to the new harddrive. Though the folders so big probably have the same issue. Have you moved the external install location to D?

It could even be a space issue try and see how much gb it takes for the game and what is already on the d drive

@@gamercharzard I have, and it's clearly not the speed of the internet because when I choose to download to my C Drive it downloads just fine, still takes a while but that's just because I have all the EPs and GPs and SPs. Plus it's not the size of the external drive, I bought this drive for sims alone and haven't put anything else on it. I think it might be the type of drive that it is. 😔

Oh that’s fair enough about the speed of the internet. Maybe try and move the usb to another port to see if it changes it to another named drive? Like e or f. And try again? Making sure it’s the correct location on the ea app? Strange that it’s not registering

@@gamercharzard ohhhhhh okay so that's something I didn't know! That changing it to a different port changes the type/letter of drive it is? My gaming laptop has I think 3 USB ports so when I get home I'll try that out and give you an update! 😊

Yes. There is a way to move them too but I’m not 100% on that at the moment and didn’t want to add it in and mess up games. The big game files themselves are now not on the computer but the sims 4 folder with saves and mods are going to be in the same place

Yea you might have to unfortunately. But then won’t have to again once installed on the external as I don’t think you can move the folder as it’s too big?

I bet it is still installed on the pc then and it then redirects to that location to play. You'll have to make sure its not installed on the pc and only on the external harddrive and change the location. And always make sure the external harddrive is plugged in on load up of the ea app :)

It was for when it disappeared on the app :) was a quick fix thing for a short time

yes i understand this was a quick fix video I made when there was no play button on the ea app but this method worked for most people :)

Might be the speed of your network.

Have you tried to contact ea support? Maybe they can confirm it’s you another way and help you change the email on your account?

@@gamercharzard yes but they are not helping, you need special information and even tho it’s my account they deny my submission false (understand it’s for safety reasons) but it’s annoying when it’s your account and you know all the info is correct. Apparently they don’t keep everything so even tho I give them the right stuff they don’t have everything so they keep denying it. It’s so sad that they can’t help people struggling with this and I know I’m not alone. Sad I’ve spent a lot of money on it and time and can’t even use it anymore.

@@olivioa so your email account is deleted or have you forgotten the password? Any way to have it send a new one using your phone or another email at all? Or maybe contact the company your email is attached to?

@@gamercharzard the domain of the email company is shutdown and doesn’t work anymore at all so i can’t login and contact them either, I should have updated it before but it still worked playing on origin but since it did work I never thought about changing, I luckily got in once on ea but they didn’t allow me to even change email lol.

Did you make sure to put the location to the external harddrive and select the correct folder. And you left the mods/saves folder in your documents

@@leeairascott7174 iam having the same problem. i even installed the ea app onto my other hard drive and dowloaded sims 3 (with the location being the new hard drive) the launcher opens but it says failed to start.
