Well,the front exploded. The engines were slightly damaged. But it wasnt really. The front exploded so thats where the most damage is.

It pains me to watch the Sunbeam explode. Just knowing how much they wanted to save Ryley, how optimistic they were, it physically pains me to watch Avery and his crew get obliterated. Its why I don’t answer the radio anymore, so that they can go home safely.
If you get cured before them to arrive, they will just say that they can't land because because of the debris field,

It would've done pretty much the same thing in real life. If something hit a craft that small with the combined force of several nuclear detonations concentrated into a single point, you can damn well guarantee that it would be disintegrated on the spot.

There is a wreck there, but it's not from the Sunbeam as it's there before that whole event, and there is no arm or leg or anything like that, this game doesn't even have the rating that would allow something like that. We're also talking about the same devs who refused to put guns in the game because of their anti-gun statement (which I totally agree with, just proving a point).

instead of making the sunbeam just despawn they should have made it split into small parts (same with aurora would be fuckin awesome too) and make the pieces have supplies in them if you find them

I mean that gun probably has enough power to disentigrate a small craft like the sunbeam
Edit: Also the Aurora does split up into small wrecks.
The blast from that gun is equal to SEVERAL nuclear detonations concentrated on a single point according to the scan data of the energy core. There is no possible way that the Sunbeam would be intact in any form after that. Also, the Aurora explosion that we see here is caused by the drive core melting down, which although extremely powerful, it wouldn't be enough to split the Aurora completely apart.

@Atomic Rex no it started with the degasi. The aurora only came near the planet to check what happened to the degasi. Source:PDAs from the game, mostly aurora
@Atomic Rex yeah the aurora had to check for the degasi with it's long-range scanners. That is the only reason they came close to 4546B

Absolutely love the Sunbeam's explosion. Quite literally the best explosion sound, and it's also pretty close to a real explosion sound, from what i can gather.
It would be rlly epic and sad if they make the voice actors from cyclops, seamoph and the prawn saying a goodbye line when they-re exploding

They could have the player find sunbeam pieces and one piece could have a pda that hints at another surviving person from Arouca crew that landed in the artic dlc and and as a alternative ending you have to save them and help them escape with you in the rocket.

Interesting, it seems the explosion effects render the same, regardless of camera position, at least for the sunbeam. No matter the angle or distance, explosion was the same size.

Anyone else wonder why the Captain presumably died in the aurora when we hear the explosion in the PDA, but the bridge appears to have absolutely no damage until the drive core explodes?
