From a person with game design experience, there is an impressive amount of detail included in gotham considering you never actually explore there in the real game, and most of that stuff would likely be obscured from view the entire game. Very impressive.

This glitch brings me back. I remember being a kid back in 2012 and thinking there was a whole other game if you made it outside those walls. I'm pretty sure this was the exact video I watched when I was 9. Man life used to be so simple.
This is the Gotham that should have been in Arkham Knight. It feels so much more true to itself and doesn’t need to look fancy and innovative to be intriguing, just an otherworldly gothic art deco nightmare in an almost dystopian sense. Those kinds of Gotham portrayals have always been the most interesting to me.
Gotham in Knight looks perfect the way it is. Different gameplay and tone require different art style - This Gotham feels retro and tranquil and Knight’s Gotham feels dangerous and alive. In short Gotham in both games suit the games perfectly respectively. City’s Gotham does work well with Knight’s setting and vice versa

Because it is canonically there there has to be a 3D map over there with the same amount of detail seen here to look decent in the distance. And in case you bring up the moving cars not needing to be there, sorry but they do as it's a functional city and they are indeed visible from Wonder Tower. It's not that impressive if any at all except maybe for the moving cars behind building textures. Rocksteady are amazing and created my second favorite videogame franchise of all times both story wise and gameplay wise.

Why on earth didn’t we get THIS Gotham in Arkham Knight?? I had plenty of fun with that game for the most part but this is just so sad we didn’t get this vision for the game. This truly feels like a gothic metropolis, complete with towering notre dame-esque architecture and a moody, Tim Burton-Meets-The-Animated-Series aesthetic. This is truly amazing and I’m sad we will probably never get a game on this scale with this effort into world building.
I really wish Arkham Knight had this type of architecture that we see here in Arkham City, would be more fun to grappel up a ginormous building and drive on the streets.

No, you just need the freeze grenades, which you get after the Mr. Freeze boss battle. In "New Game Plus" mode you have them from the beginning of the game.

If the devs would have just.... *Humoured* adding roofs to them so you can land...I would be eternally grateful...I mean like what's really the harm??, you're already outside, you'll fall through the floor anyway, and I can't even think of a third issue/concept. One day, I will give you all the game you want in Gotham city, hell I'll put my life back and make a game with these developers. I know Jackshit about creating a game but I am an architect, and will make this a reality. Same with a redo on mafia 2 because that city deserves a bigger showcase, and more lively feel to it.
I just love how massive the buildings look in this game! It kinda reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series. The Art Deco is phenomenal, and I wish we had gotten something similar in Arkham Knight.
I KNOW. I can't wait for a game that finally gives us the free roam Gotham city, real gotham city not the pansy shit and glimpses. Even this lacks cohesion with the duplicate towers on some of them. If they can harness it and add museums, city parks, harbors, the yacht club, and more distinctive concepts, then it would be phenomenal. I love when the games take advantage of climbing a highrise like the royal hotel. Love the ascension and then the pure vast scale of going across the bridge and looking up to then see another 20 stories to go, and then a rooftop fight above the sky. And it's not even really a tall building! Compare that to the skinny Chrysler building tower on the main facing island and that things like 170 stories! Love the pure stretch of normal proportions it really fits it all so well. I made an iceberg lounge design where penguin owns a fancy large building, and made it so that the center of the building has a window waterall that starts out watery looking at the bottom, and then slowly turns into an icy design, then with a art deco crown around the top of the building. Unconventional as hell but can anyone really make sense of this city in this game...I mean, kind of hard to imagine how it all works and how the floors operate. It's so cool the world of Gotham, pure rich decadence of the best combination of Art Deco design in a gothic sense, with towering skyscrapers that go into the gloomy clouds, how every building reaches out to the heavens because of the crime and devil like foundation the city resides on or on top of. Couldn't imagine being on top of a statue at the tippy top of the tallest skyscrapers, then pearing off and performing a dive into a pile of leaves 2000 feet belo..oh, wrong game.
Looks good but the bad thing is Gotham never did look better in Arkham Knight. They did tried their best, even made some arts to they make in final to look like this but it would take so much time. But nice thing is they did add Arkham Asylum in this game, and also they did add Arkham City and Asylum in Arkham Knight. I did always wish to fully explore Gotham made by Rocksteady... Shame that never happend (except to just fly ofc, i'm speaking to fully explore on ground with or without Batmobile).
I agree, I never felt like I was truly in Gotham in Arkham Knight. It felt more like a glorified Arkham City, like just a section of the city with generally smaller buildings. I was hoping we would get to lurk amongst the big skyscrapers, observing the regular life of Gotham and searching for the crime, but instead we ended up being in a lesser section of Gotham populated entirely by criminals. I would've preferred a smaller map with taller buildings, like the ones that are looming over Arkham City. We only really got that with Wayne Tower. It's weird how they made Wayne Tower but it's not surrounded by the buildings we see in this video.

That's great. I got out of Arkham City once. I was spinning the camera around on the elevator coming down from Wonder Tower, and the bottom half of the tower didn't load, so I was able to get out of the elevator and fly out into Gotham like this, but it wasn't a repeatable glitch, so I only got to do it the one time. Can't wait to try this and explore Gotham some more.
What if the 5th arkham game was a huge map with arkham city, asylum, full 100% Gotham city too (and ik this is lsnt part of the arkham games) blackgate?

I can't even comprehend the number of people that think Arkham Knights city looked like this. Everywhere I go, it's pure praise. Did we play the same fucking game because Arkham knights city was small, weak, and felt more like a hotwheels halloween set from the early 2000s (airbrush era).

No, you just need the freeze grenades, which you get after the Mr. Freeze boss battle. In "New Game Plus" mode you have them from the beginning of the game.

I just love how massive the buildings look in this game! It kinda reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series. The Art Deco is phenomenal, and I wish we had gotten something similar in Arkham Knight.
I KNOW. I can't wait for a game that finally gives us the free roam Gotham city, real gotham city not the pansy shit and glimpses. Even this lacks cohesion with the duplicate towers on some of them. If they can harness it and add museums, city parks, harbors, the yacht club, and more distinctive concepts, then it would be phenomenal. I love when the games take advantage of climbing a highrise like the royal hotel. Love the ascension and then the pure vast scale of going across the bridge and looking up to then see another 20 stories to go, and then a rooftop fight above the sky. And it's not even really a tall building! Compare that to the skinny Chrysler building tower on the main facing island and that things like 170 stories! Love the pure stretch of normal proportions it really fits it all so well.
I made an iceberg lounge design where penguin owns a fancy large building, and made it so that the center of the building has a window waterall that starts out watery looking at the bottom, and then slowly turns into an icy design, then with a art deco crown around the top of the building. Unconventional as hell but can anyone really make sense of this city in this game...I mean, kind of hard to imagine how it all works and how the floors operate.
It's so cool the world of Gotham, pure rich decadence of the best combination of Art Deco design in a gothic sense, with towering skyscrapers that go into the gloomy clouds, how every building reaches out to the heavens because of the crime and devil like foundation the city resides on or on top of. Couldn't imagine being on top of a statue at the tippy top of the tallest skyscrapers, then pearing off and performing a dive into a pile of leaves 2000 feet belo..oh, wrong game.
I wish Gotham looked like this in Arkham Knight, personally. It feels like an actual city. It feels pretty small and urbanized in Knight.

They might aswell include Gotham in the first place if they implement missions there.
Looks good but the bad thing is Gotham never did look better in Arkham Knight. They did tried their best, even made some arts to they make in final to look like this but it would take so much time. But nice thing is they did add Arkham Asylum in this game, and also they did add Arkham City and Asylum in Arkham Knight.
I did always wish to fully explore Gotham made by Rocksteady... Shame that never happend (except to just fly ofc, i'm speaking to fully explore on ground with or without Batmobile).
I agree, I never felt like I was truly in Gotham in Arkham Knight. It felt more like a glorified Arkham City, like just a section of the city with generally smaller buildings. I was hoping we would get to lurk amongst the big skyscrapers, observing the regular life of Gotham and searching for the crime, but instead we ended up being in a lesser section of Gotham populated entirely by criminals. I would've preferred a smaller map with taller buildings, like the ones that are looming over Arkham City. We only really got that with Wayne Tower. It's weird how they made Wayne Tower but it's not surrounded by the buildings we see in this video.

That's great. I got out of Arkham City once. I was spinning the camera around on the elevator coming down from Wonder Tower, and the bottom half of the tower didn't load, so I was able to get out of the elevator and fly out into Gotham like this, but it wasn't a repeatable glitch, so I only got to do it the one time.
Can't wait to try this and explore Gotham some more.

Apparently the new batman game might come out this year. Its meant to have a map 1.5 Times bigger than GTA 5s
It should let you enter Arkham asylum, north Gotham and south Gotham (and probably blackgate)
It would take too much space since Gotham is so big

You have to give credit to rocksteady for designing Gotham and making look good and almost the same as Arkham knight Gotham and how they also detailed Arkham asylum by doing ivy’s plant and model of the asylum
