    for those on minute 5:19, if you are adding the fill and wondering why it is not working, you have to go to your tool settings and change in reference from the first botton on the left to the middle one, it says "obtain the region using a merged copy of all the layers" , and you can fill in to your hearts content! and don't worry if when adding the dots it shows that you are coloring over the black lines, when you do that weird button(I forget the name) it takes care of that.

    My first ever digital drawing tablet gets here tomorrow, and I’m SO EXCITED to start digital art. I’ve studied so much and learned about animation, and this is my final choice for the app I’m gonna use. It’s been years since I’ve started drawing and I’ve started with the hope of starting and creating digital stories and art, I’m so happy. I’m already planning out my very first video, although it may be a rocky road I’m happy to finally be able to wander along it.

    Does anyone else's fill tool act wacky and just ignore the lines on other layers? When I use it, it just fills the whole canvas on the layer unless I have lines on the same layer. I'm using an early access version of krita on mobile so that may be the problem. But if it happens to anyone else who's using a computer, let me know if you've figured out how to stop it from doing this! :)

    Hello, I have a problem, my tablet is working fine and the cursor works fine when I do not touch the pen to the tablet, but when I try to draw a line by touching the pen to the tablet, it freezes. Do you have any suggestions? (I did not experience freezing problems in other applications I tried, so I do not think there is a problem with my tablet)

    • @Wingedcanvas
      @Wingedcanvas  2 місяці тому

      Hello! Sorry to hear about the trouble with your tablet. Here are a few things you can try:
      - Update Drivers: Make sure your tablet drivers are up to date; this can often solve compatibility issues.
      - Check Software Settings: Review the settings in your drawing software, as there may be options specifically for tablet input.
      - Disable Windows Ink: If you're using Windows, try disabling Windows Ink, as it can sometimes cause conflicts with certain programs.
      - Test in Another Drawing App: Even though other apps are fine, testing with another drawing application might help identify if it's a software-specific issue.
      - Reinstall the Software: Reinstalling the drawing program can sometimes fix hidden issues.
      Hope this helps, and happy creating!

    • @Galaxia53
      @Galaxia53 Рік тому

      It's an issue with the standard settings of the fill tool
      First check if the Docker Tool Options is active. Go into Settings at the top of the screen, then Dockers and then see if Tool options is on. If it's on then on the right side of the screen you will see it somewhere, for me it was very small at the top next to overview. If you have the Fill Tool selected then when you scroll down a bit you may see an option called "Sample", set that to "All Layers" and that should fix it. Be sure to have the sketch hidden otherwise it will take the sketch into account when filling in the space.
      Others say that the option "Sample" is called "Reference" for them.

    4:55 I'm new to using Krita, and I've been following this tutorial-- as far as I can tell-- perfectly. But when I try to use the fill tool, it fills the whole canvas, not just the area of the mushroom cap. Does anyone know what I did wrong?
    I made the line art on one layer, made a new paint layer between the line art and the (hidden) sketch, selected the fill tool, and clicked it. The video clearly shows that she has the new layer selected, so how does it only fill within the shape? It was a new layer not a copy, right? (She clicked the plus sign not the duplicate icon.) The layers aren't linked, and she didn't select an area within the image with a select tool. What am I missing?

    • @Obstreperous_Octopus
      @Obstreperous_Octopus Рік тому +18

      Okay, I found the issue, in case anyone else is having the same problem.
      In the Tool Options docker, if you scroll down towards the bottom, there is a section called "Reference" with three selectable icon options. The first one (default) shows three layers, two of which appear grayed out. This one paints based on the active layer only. This is why the fill tool was painting the entire canvas. Instead, select the second one (three white layers). This one paints an area based on all layers. In other words, the painted area will be restricted, even from lines and shapes on other layers. (No more having to select an area in one layer, then switching to a separate layer to paint!)

    Subbed! I've been using Procreate for the last couple of years, off and on. I've been drawing since I was 2, but I didn't even try to invest in starting digital art until a couple of years ago. I'm unfamiliar with other programs, and it seems so impossible to learn everything! I'm well into my game design degree, too, so I just feel so inexperienced.
    This video was great for learning some very basic and helpful tips for Krita. I wanted to start learning this program as I just invested in a larger and more advanced drawing display, and I'll have to use Windows with it. It was a little hard to decipher a few words here and there in the video, but I liked that you showed how to change, adjust, and fix mistakes and placements of things. It always seems like borderline witchcraft to me when I've watched people drawing such complex designs and then just adjusting an entire chunk of it! 😂
    Thanks for the video. This makes me feel a bit better. I need to start building my portfolio soon, so I want to learn what I can for concept art, modeling, and animation. I need to start small, though. 😊

    When I color in the line on the shading layer and click the alpha symbol or that weird “a” my colors don’t stay in the line they still cover the black line and it’s like they paint over the black line they won’t stay

    Fantastic video. I've just started using Krita and this was a great way to learn some very helpful tools. Only thing is it was very fast. Had to keep rewinding to see where you were clicking or what you were doing. Still great though. Thanks.

      Hey there! It sounds like you might be seeing a different user interface in your version of Krita. If you're looking to adjust the UI to match what you see in tutorials, here's how you can customize it:
      1. Workspace:
      - Go to `Settings` > `Dockers` to manage which panels (like layers, brushes, etc.) are visible.
      - You can drag these panels around to arrange them according to your preference.
      2. Theme:
      - Navigate to `Settings` > `Themes` to change the color scheme of Krita's interface.
      - Choose from light, dark, or other custom themes available.
      3. Toolbars:
      - To customize toolbars, right-click on any toolbar area.
      - Here, you can add or remove specific tools you frequently use.
      If you're still unsure or need more guidance, feel free to check out our video tutorials on Krita (ua-cam.com/users/wingedcanvas) for step-by-step instructions!
      Happy Krita-ing!
      - Winged Canvas 🎨
