- William Harris' stunning anthem for double choir was published in 1959, and is a staple of Anglican church music repertoire. We're excited to be performing this in concert at St Bartholomew-the-Great in London on 13th June. Book your tickets here: tinyurl.com/4wexvbjs
This recording was filmed live at St Mary's Church, Ealing in March 2024.

Bring us, o Lord God,
At our last awakening
Into the house and gate of Heaven,
To enter into that gate and dwell in that house,
Where there shall be no darkness nor dazzling,
But one equal light;
No noise nor silence,
But one equal music;
No fears or hopes,
But one equal possession;
No ends or beginnings,
But one equal eternity,
In the habitations of thy glory and dominion,
World without end,
Amen.

Beautiful. I miss being in excellent choirs.
Superb blending and, even better, an absence of vibrato. A beautiful piece and an excellent performance.
Absolutely wonderful, such exceptional balance between all the parts!
I just love the timbre and tone of the basses. Best on youtube! Loved the last note - super clear and supported.
Flawless performance. Tenebrae never lets us down.
Que maravilha ,Deus abençoe 🙏
Muito bom!
OMG 😭 how is it that I know what to expect and have even sung this piece several times and I STILL get caught be the immense energy and emotion of Tenebrae‘s performance ❤ they are simply incredible! I feel so honored to be singing with Jonathan in our current Rheinstimmen projects 🙏 Even one of these singers can enhance and begild our sound and infuse it with Tenebrae‘s magic, it seems 🥰 My next dream would be to sing with all of them once in my life 🥹
You are not the only one having that dream. 😮🎶🎵
Straordinari!!! …Musica che dà Gloria a Dio, GRAZIE!!!
Дуже дякую! Молодці!
One of my all-time favourite pieces of English church music. Wonderful words by John Donne set exquisitely by Sir William Harris. I think it's better than "Faire is the Heaven." If this was the very last piece of music, I heard on this Earth, I would leave in peace! Well done Nigel and Tenebrae for not succumbing to a sugary performance, like some I've heard.
What beauty, what passion, what marvelous performance by the Tenebrae Choir! Always the best, and of course the magnificent Nigel Short conducting is simply perfect!
Magnificently enchanting.
Sempre bravissimi. Ciao dall' Italia.
MAGNIFICENT!
That was 3min 59 sec well spent - superb performance 👌

l am a strong afficianado of Early Sacred Music but this performance was just way too shrill for my liking.
🥸👌🍷🍷❤️❤️🦘
Completely independent from the musical opinion: William Harris lived from 1883 to 1973, and published this piece in 1959, so it's not exactly early. Maybe knowing this will also change your listening expectation =)
This is probably the finest a cappella choir in the world and the music is modern. What a sad individual you are!
Just say youre dumb
