There is a rare beauty in old railway photos which is hard to find elsewhere. It’s a real bonus when the “then” picture fades to “now” and there’s still a live railway track in place, although the yearning for the past always remains. That feeling is unique, in my experience. There’s a kind of “ghosts” feeling, but not quite the same.
What a wonderful video! Sad to see trees instead of railway lines! But it is a reminder of how things were and what communities have lost.
Superb but sad video, some should of remained. Thank you!
My pleasure, glad you liked it
Great video!
3:25 I’m glad that Colyton is still here it’s now been used for tramway services after many years been used for the British railways services
I like these 'Now & Then' Type of Videos 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Thank you, I enjoy making them.
Always fun watching these for the first time and guessing if the reveal will show if the station still exists!
Absolutely loved this. So interesting and somewhat sad to see at the same time. Thanks so much
Glad you enjoyed it, it’s always a bittersweet moment when you find the location of an old station.
@@steamtothewest-trecanrail I can imagine that it is as you describe, very bittersweet
Great video, wish we weren’t so shortsighted with the removal of so many😢
Agreed, although it was easy to see why they were removed, a lot of stations are less than 5 minutes apart, the train could never compete with the car.
6:38 I’m glad that east budleigh station is still here but looking at it now the narrow gauge lines are now in its place where the line passed through this station that used to be there
Incredibly nostalgic, remember most of the then and nows but not the Exmouth line, the terminus was far larger than I had imagined, even though I have travelled to the minimalist "now" station on many occasions😂
Thank you, the Exmouth line may have lost its terminus, but not its character, its quiet charming in places.
The effort you must put into these is immense, cracking job
Thank you very much
I can just remember train travel in those days. It was magical. Now,bland at best,
A shame about Seaton Junction and Lyme Regis. Took the train from Woking/Salisbury to Axminster in 2010. Then a bus to Beer to visit Peco.
A very enjoyable day out, but would have liked to have used a train all the way.
Now semi-retired in Picton, South Island, New Zealand.
Not sure if this country has taken steps forward or back. Great watch anyway.
I can see why some stations are no longer with us, some are in the middle of nowhere, and some would be quicker by bus! However, the grandeur and architecture have gone with what is left, which does feel like a step back. Thanks for watching.
A great leap backward. I no longer live in it, and prefer to remember it as it was
