- Enjoy this full POV of the original version of Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City! Fire in the Hole was widely regarded as one of the world's first indoor roller coasters. The ride was built in-house by Silver Dollar City and opened in 1972. Featuring a mix of powered inclines and gravity-driven drops, this unique roller coaster told the story of how a group of vigilantes known as the Baldknobbers set fire to the mining town of Marmaros. The ride permanently closed on December 30, 2023, and a new version manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction opened in a new area called the Fire District in 2024.

One of a kind. The newer version is a close second but the first one will continue to be in many hearts.
I’m actually going to do the newer one in a few weeks and it’s going to be interesting to see how they compare! I don’t exactly have the same nostalgia for the original that many folks have, but I love it just the same.
I prefer this version over the new one. There was this distinct smell about the other one that I just loved. And the part with the train used to give me nightmares 💀

Went on it. No it doesn’t smell the same. Can’t say I’m surprised since the new version was built in a whole new building
It definitely still has a musky kinda smell, like grandma's humid basement
