One thing in the R13's favor: not 13th or 14th generation, since 700-level processors also had issues - you're not buying a possibly compromised processor.
yeah it's hysterical, a 3080 ti is on the level of a 4070 super lmfao I imagine a year from now there will be "is the 4080 still a good card in almost 2026 ?" type videos
My friend had this system but with an 10900kf cpu with 3090. The chassis is so bad that my friend had to buy a new mobo, cooler and chassis to combat the high temps and throttling. I myself am using an 12700k tuned to 5.2ghz all core, 4.8ghz ringbus, no e-cores enabled and on an itx mobo to be able to run at 7600c36(stable) can run at 7800 but it is iffy. The gpu is an 6900xt because I dont need anything else, as I have sold my 6950xt( 2 versions both with 2x8 pins) 3 7900xtx, 3080, 3080ti, and 4090 because at 1080p low in the games I play I dont get that much more fps anyway as every cpu I had was limiting the 4090 and 7900xtx cards. the cpus I have owned is 12700k and 12900k with ddr4(3200c14 b-die at 4000c16) 2x 13900kf, 7600 and 2x 7800x3d with 6000c30 ram on 3 mobos 2 asus and 1 gigabyte master b650e which I still own with an 7800x3d. The tuned 12700k is just as fast in the games as the other cpus including the 7800x3d and in warzone it is faster than the 7800x3d when using an amd gpu. Something in warzone does throttle the perf of am5 systems with amd gpus. The only game I can compare to in this comparasion is cs2 and my system get 366 to 500fps, and that despite cs2 not liking amd gpus. There is more to get as the ram is just 7200c34 vengance loosened xmp profile.
The biggest downside to that alienware is the motherboard, PSU, limiting bios and heavy bloatware. if it was around 1100 - 1250 then I'd have went for it, the reason for my price would be the ewaste motherboard, bad bios and proprietary parts. BUT if you're looking for a rig that's plug n play and will do the job and you don't care about the performance loss.... it's fine, an alright combo
I respect all the time and effort you've put into your channel, and you 100% deserve the awesome opportunities that have come your way lately. As a fellow tech nerd, I'd be jumping for joy to see my inbox full of companies wanting to send me their latest and greatest. I started watching your channel 5-6 years ago because you were doing all the weird Chinese dual socket used Xeon stuff. I built my first budget GPU/Linux server after watching your videos on the Grid and Tesla cards. I have nothing but respect for what you've been able to build for yourself, and I would love to see more of that style of content. I personally can't ever see myself forking out 10k+ for a new Intel server, but it's cool to see nonetheless.
$1495 is fair. I have a i9 from the 10th gen and just need a gpu upgrad really. 10th and 11th gen high i7+ all rips! Pair them with good cooling and 4400+ ram at least 32 gigs and your flying in anything.
15:06 I doubt this will work well. DDR5 does not like to have more than 1 stick per channel and I think the memory controller on the CPU is borked. The base memory clock for a 12700KF is 4800 MT/s, but the product page for the system notes, it is running at 4400 MT/s.
I scored a very similar bussiness grade Dell Precision 3660 with a i7 12700k + 3070 with 2TB of storage and 32GB of DDR5 RAM for $400 this week. It actually uses the same chasis as this.

I bought an R13 with a 12900F, 3080, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVME when they were phasing them out and discounting them deeply. I needed a computer and this was actually cheaper to buy than building my own. While I'm not thrilled with choices they've made, it acomplishes everything that i need it to do and it does it well. I don't have complaints about it that piss me off everyday.
one of my friends got something like this during the infamous GPU shortage because it was basically the same price as getting a GPU on its own. beyond that, good enough for what it is I suppose
I mean, I'm still working with an 8086k with a 3080 Ti, and it does awesome in any of the games I've thrown at it. I would certainly hope a 12th-gen would be even better.
I feel like the going easy on the juice should have been an intentional choice (maybe it was?); it is called 'Juice DUST' after all, not 'Juice Nuke' :P
The point I make, people ask for advice a lot. If I have a say in what they want to buy and I agree I'll help them out. If they buy something I warned them not to so they can solve their own issues.
Whild how many people are complaining about your comments on a 4 year old GPU. The comment isn't for people still using old hardware, it's directed at the people who upgrade every generation. Those poor Intel users.
I have an oem Dell 3800 in my PC. Runs 4k@60fps just fine for me! However, nvidia's newest driver almost killed it! My PC wouldn't post, with a code 97 on the motherboard.
