Honda is miles ahead of the ktm and RE in terms of refinement and reliability. It's also better to use everday. Quality always costs.

The KTM 390 Engine has a compression ratio of 12.88:1 as compared to Honda's 10.7:1. Its pretty obvious that Honda will feel more refined and run cooler too. The compression ratio of the KTM is absolutely race spec and when you do that you have to compromise on refinement and engine life. And talking about the quality of parts it's not as bad as you say it is. I own the very same bike that is featured and I haven't faced a single problem with my bike. I once used to hate KTM's to tell you the truth but now I know it's not the bike that the real problem but it's the rider.
@@jakgt500 I agree with you that the KTM is more exciting to ride by a big margin. I feel that as an every day motorcycle it is just too aggressive for me. It's also awesome VFM. Quality wise it is also okay. For me personally refinement,comfort and reliability are very important factors in purchasing a motorcycle.
Yeah I really have to accept the fact that it's not everyone's cup of tea especially when it comes to riding in traffic. Every once in a while you just need something more forgiving.
Watching from the UK. A really pro review and you covered everything I wanted to know. I was a serious biker when I was younger but old now. The CB is definitely on my list. Also considering a rebel but it just looks ugly to me. Safe riding all.

Comparing the interceptor wid the KTM isn't fair at all. They are be priced quite closely, but both bikes are poles apart & have their fair shares of pros & cons & their characteristics are different from each other. The KTM is more enjoyable & is razor sharp while the RE is meant for a calm & sedate ride hence bringing it to this comparo isn't justified
Finally overdrive👍 raw power does not only matter, there's also something called quality

They're made for different riders, I think. Duke for the hooligans, 300r for the more sensible, refined gentleman. Both have their upsides. Test them out and buy the one that you like best.

I chose ktm anyday
...it has better performance and It also have more features like ride by wire tft console and much more than the Honda ...make it much more attractive .....the only thing Honda can offer here is reliability and better City riding ability
Better mileage on the honda as well and also the honda isnt that bad in terms of power 30 hp and 27nm torque is quite good and better than any 300cc currently in the market

I usually prefer Japanese reliability but this time I'd go with European raw power. CB300 just no no. I'd even go with Dominar 400 and save money on riding gears instead of going for CB300.

Ktms are not that far from hondas in terms of refinement , I chose ktm anytime
Ktm are very far from refinement, ride 1 ktm bike and you get tingling sensation in your hands and legs. Ride 1 Honda or Yamaha and your body is still fine.
I would go spending additional money and buy the ninja 300 or the R3. Good reliability and sheer power combined.

Those 41 mm are not just any forks they are from showa which is better than wp. I guess they use showa in zx10r

For most riders, motorcycles need to go fast to satiate their lust for thrills. The Duke 390 is faster and better at handling than the CB300r, but for urban areas the reliability and ease of use with the CB300r is much better than that of the Duke 390. Personally, I'd pick the CB300r since working on motorcycles is not something I'd like to do every 3 weeks.

If I was paying 3 Lacs for a modern retro bike I would pick the 650 twins from re ... Makes better sense but if I wanted a sports bike would take Duke 390

It's a saree guard to prevent women's clothing from getting stuck in the wheel. Yes it's a requirement, but you can remove it provided you can handle the cops. I removed it from my bike and never had any trouble with the police.
Mate I wonder why Dominar 400 is not included...
I guess both of them are naked streetfighter catagory, whereas dominar is a powercruiser, but D400 is faster and has higher top speed than the Honda.

Overdrive was one of the leaders in automotive journalism but this review is like one done by hundreds of amateurs on UA-cam. We expect quality knowledge from Overdrive yet a fun to watch video. You missed out on numerous points that could turn the game in favor of their the Honda or KTM.
Maybe the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350 would be comparable?
RE can simply be ignored here , over 200 kg of wt , with near zero equipments this bike does not fit in any category , bikes are subjective choice but most value for money is still ktm 390 , we are lucky that its made in india so we get the tax benefits , otherwise in euro and american markets this bike is costly.

Get a 2019 D400, add some mods and proper riding gears and you'd still have some change left. You simply can't ignore the Dominar when if you want to talk the all important vfm question.
You don't understand the dominar cannot be compared with cb , dominar is more powerful, bigger engine but engine refinement and handling, dominar can eat dust over there. Moreover the cb300 target is g310r potential customers not dominar... Dominar sales target is that of royal Enfield fyi .

No he is damn right. Dominor is a naked power cruiser not a street fighter. Which means thanks to its bulbous 188 kgs kerb weight it is only good enough for highway cruising/touring/ mile munching.
Bikes like CB300R or Duke 390 are naked bikes designed to be very agile/manoeuvrable both inside the urban jungle and the canyons.

The Interceptor isn't behind on overall quality levels especially compared to KTM!
Still though both can't match the Honda for overall quality..
CB300 is the best city bike we can buy in the country but that's it.. isn't great for ghats/ tracks/ highways.. It is certainly not worth that kind of price given it's specialization..
A 60 ps difference per tonne - not so far you say well when people invest so much in a motorcycle they are expecting power and ktm has the monopoly right now untill any other manufacturer is going to do something about it the only olace where honda wins is quality 👍 and when we consider quality like for a one time investment honda is the choice no denying that but someone who has a fat pocket its ktm and let not forget about the all new dominar 400 which has both quality and the edge 🤙(FYI RE is no where near these in terms of reliability)

Wrong comparo ,this bike is much better pitted Vs the g310r, cheaper , better engine and better quality for a lesser price. Duke is no comparison, it's just performance and price wise winning and coming to dominar even more vfm but this Honda spose to be a niche product , more than sales centric

Comparison lies dead on the repair room floor while the Honda drives by and continues too. The unreliability if KTM squarely places it dead last in every aspect unless you like replacing the lower end or complete engine as a matter of regular maintenance. Which is the definition of insanity.

Honda make good quality motorcycle
Having owned the previous Duke 390, the thing I didn't like about the bike was that it was a bad bike for city traffic. It needed constant gear shifts, it used to heat up a lot and it did not have good bottom end power. It used to be fun only above 4000 rpm and I didn't want to ride like that all day. I would personally prefer something like the CB 300R which can do all this much better and is also about 20k cheaper.
You first need to compare bikes of the same price, not expensive unreliable against , less expensive reliable
+ Honda bikes are waaaaaay more reliable.

CB300 is an overpriced city bike. It isn't an all rounder like the Duke 390 or even Dominar. People who usually own bigger sports/ADV bikes and want something fun for the city will opt for the Honda. Honda themselves understand this and have limited the selling quantity. I read they already sold off all units for 2019. Not sure if such a bike should even be considered for a review. Duke 390 is still the best motorcycle in this segment of looked at objectively. The only reason the Interceptor sells more (although doesn't belong in this segment) is because of the RE tag. Same reason why Activa sells more than Jupiter even though the latter is better

Trust me most folks will love the design of the ktm... and my personal suggestion... don't buy cb300r... my friend owns a cbr250 and he always dissatisfied with the service at honda... buy a ktm... the make perfomance machines and they know how to service...

Single cylinder , high compression ratio... Causes too much heating... Ask them who are driving in tight traffic and loud noise of its radiator fan... Love fades away when things get more problematic than usable.
