1:28:48 Brenda! I just thought we creeped this location! But we’re gonna creep it again?! Did you see something? No.. must’ve been a ghost. I love winter’s commentary!
I must say: u are the most entertaining caster to watch when you look at lowko, wardi etc. There is so much soul in the casting! thanks for the rerun of a serie I have already watch, just that this time it was even better with you casting!
Seeing Innovation dismantle Serral so methodically with such an extremely sophisticated army comp makes me wonder if anyone else is going to pick this kind of army comp up. I'd love to see Maru do this and even Gumiho make some kind of battlemech spin on it.
I think the "solution" to this is exactly what Winter suggests halfway through - a Nydus to lead back to the base that kept getting sniped. It's not the nukes nor the ghosts that delivered the victory. They just bought time. Enough time for Innovation to completely mine out the base on one side, while denying the base on the other. Once the base was mined out, he would move in to mine the base he previously sniped, therefore being the only one with an active base at the end of the game. If Serral could block the snipe, they'd be on equal grounds at the end, and then Serral could take it.
I think a Nydus would help but the problem is the nukes are such potentially devastating attacks and they come so frequently that you have no other option but to focus on dealing with them. Nukes into high priority areas can generally be stopped but you need to have very quick decision making, the right units, and micro to do it and more importantly it demands the most valuable recourse of them all which is the time and attention of the defending player. Whenever innovation pushed on a base with his bio hit squad he always did it under the cover of one or more nukes and the main army threatening elsewhere. The Nydus helps get your units there in time but then you still have the problem of having your attention divided on way too many fronts to micro them while also needing to micro intensely to kill the nuking ghosts and keep the main army from advancing on the other side of the map at the same time. The Nydus is a good idea but I'm not sure it would have reversed the tide.
@@kirbyjoe7484 The nukes don't actually do that much damage. They are devastating against units, yes, but you still need several to take out a building. Moving the workers off the mineral line doesn't require that much micro, especially if you know the nukes keep landing in the same spot. And even if you wait for the nuke to drop before moving your attention, with a Nydus, you can still catch that bio army before it manages to complete retreat, at least causing it some losses. Interestingly, the idea of stalemate for the 6th base was previously done with the races reversed, a year ago, in Maru vs Dark. Nukes or not, just standing over that 6th base location is all that's needed.
its a no win situation when you think about it, the reason he went with broodlords in the first place was because, heavy mech isnt easy to counter without them, he needed good air units, and with the amount of bio+ vikings, mutas would be easy pickings. he could maybe go roaches, and then ravagers, but even then, it would still be too risky. the reason this strategy worked so well, was due to how well it was timed, multiple nukes at the same time as attacks to bases here and there. the irony is, thoses nukes were a distraction, that could potentially kill your entire army if you didnt deal with it. so you cant really half ass it and risk. Ino just went all out, and i dont think changing unit composition would make much diference in either map.
Oh wow... It has 100+ NUKES in the title. I clicked as soon as I read Serral (Zerg) vs Innovation (Terran). Really doesn't need more clickbait than that.

Everyone simply bowed down in that group to Serral, claiming that he's a god. That he's unbeatable. Then Innovation, an already beaten man, lost a game to him in a way he felt was getting dirt kicked on his pride. So he showed everyone that the World Champion can be made to bleed. That the emotionless Serral can be exhausted and tortured. He showed the world that Serral is no god.
I feel like while we're discussing the weakpoint, the nukes were generally treated as an open air threat. "I have nukes. I have one, here, one here, one here. You have to be paying attention because..." And the because is that the late game army that Serral decided upon was very immobile. Your Broodlords are the meat of the army, and it doesn't move very fast. So he'd get nuked in a couple of places, usually right in the face of the broodlords, and be faced with the question. "Do you move up, or back off and cede the creep here?" And the obvious answer is normally back off, but it is a question what needs attention to answer. While he is taking the time those broodlords need to answer that question, the bio says "Okay, well while you're doing that, hows the side entrance here lookin'?" I feel like maybe squeezing some ultras or some throwaway roaches in would have helped the response time issue that Serral faced in the two pronged question posed by those nukes.
this is probably terran at its most opressive. its not economic viable to nuke everywhere, but at the same time, those nukes are both, mentaly draining, and, more importantly, disorientating, its a very real pause button on anything you are doing, because if you dont find and deal with it, you will lose alot. in the meanwhile, the terran will proceed to move up, and take spots for themselves. its a very hard thing to pull off, but when it does, there's no real answer against it.
I need to get myself checked... I think I'm irradiated from all those bombs :-D Those maps will not be available for play for a long long time with all the radiation... Glad zerg didn't mutate into something different from all of it :-)

TvZ has at least been watchable...TvP not so much since it seems Mech(mainly thor/BC with hellion run byes?) is the direction you're supposed to take it for late game in blizz logic but all of mech's early game units range from mediocre to terrible to most of the protoss openers *and* midgame. Which means you're not really just doing a smaller tech switch but a full blown production and upgrade switch from early bio and you don't get chrono to help you accelerate said build switch when you don't have the full set of production facilities online because you were spending monies doing stuff in the game. These reasons are the same reason battlecruiser rush fell out of favor so fast competitively. Old cyclones helped relieve this problem simply by being a viable combat unit that didn't die to a sneeze(a round of chargelots) before they got hit for their part in the cheese factory.

Those last 2 games hurt me. The nukes were straight-up abusive. Ghosts are fucking ridiculously strong. They counter everything except lings and they're not even fragile. WTF. That said, it drives me nuts that Serral never attacked the Terran side bases and didn't keep a couple overseers and some lings on his own side bases to defend against nuking ghosts. And no use of Nydus for defensive logistics. One other thing that boggles my mind is the sending huge clumps of banes into tank fire. A few seconds of splitting would make so much difference! Regardless, that's just a brutally punishing playstyle. Nukes are terrorism.
hey winter, that was hell of a game. Do you thing there is a balance issue, especially after this game? Innovation make serral look like hopeless. Or is it about just performance? Whats your opinion?
I don't always make balance decisions, but when I do, I base it off of fringe games by completely exhausted super-pro players operating at 1000 APM with almost nothing on the line.

It feels really imba to fight against, and i'm not sure how to deal with it. Everyone just says quit crying, git gud, put hydras at each base with overseers, but idk. Or makes nukes more expensive, add longer delay before the nuke falls. But if you nerf nukes, you need to buff terran late game. Terran cant win a big engagement vs zerg late game. Therefore they need to win a war of attrition. which imo fits the terran character.
It wasn't nukes that did it. They may have helped Innovation not lose, but it was when the Ghosts started EMPing and sniping the Zerg late-game Quad units that the tide turned decisively in both games. At Master level, I guess if you want to beat Zerg late-game you need to learn to micro ghosts as casters.
The nukes are straight up what stopped Serral from countering. The emps and snipes may have sealed the game but the nukes are what packaged the whole thing together. His entire strat involved bleeding serral dry and then going for a win while serral had no bank to re-max. It's not like it's a secret zerg are the most inefficient supply-wise so limiting their only way to compete with maxed armies(Their ability to re-max) isn't exactly rocket science. If it weren't for the plethora of nukes, Innovation would've lost this regardless of his composition due to how late in the game it was. Before nuke spam: Serral could've remaxed nearly 3 times with a premium army. After nuke spam: No bank and about 90~ army supply by the time the final few fights happened.
@@JohnSmith-zf3yk Except Serral didn't lose that much to the nukes. Sure, Innovation zoned him away a lot of the time, but a lot of the time Serral Overseered and Brood Lorded the Ghost before the nuke could land. What starved Serral was Innovation's Dropship play away from the main clash of armies. What killed Serral was when the caster bullies were EMP'd and the Snipes started landing. Zerg's late-game supremacy is all about using caster bullying to support the Corruptor / Brood Lord combo (which tend to cover each other's weakness rather well), meaning Terran late-game doesn't work without Ghosts to suppress Vipers and Infestors (and Queens to a degree, I suppose). This is true whether the Ghosts are supporting Cyclones, Battlecruisers + Ravens, or something else. I'm just worried that Blizzard will decide to 'shake up' the stalemate by nerfing Ghosts instead of making Zerg's casters less stupidly OP in the support role. I mean, Blinding Cloud + Fungal Growth - both high-radius effects - work together to create the Sitting Duck effect, especially now that Fungal Growth has been buffed to remove prior retreat options, and both Abduct and Neural Parasite might as well be called 'Free Kill on Expensive Late-Game Unit'. I think units with the Massive quality should be able to ignore those last two, just like they ignore Force Field, Concussive Shells, and Graviton Beam. Oh, and Make Thors Armored Again. Calling them 'armored' units after nerfing their armor is silly, and they ought to be able to endure broodlings like they used to.
@@albertnorman4136 It's not about how much Serral lost to the nukes. The nukes mostly stole his focus, forcing him to micro on one side, while the bio army kept sniping the base on the other. Innovation was keeping this up for over half an hour while he completely drained the opposite base for minerals, and then moved to mine it out. This way, he ended the game with one base more, with Serral having to split his attention to defend two sides, while Innovation only having to hold one base at a time. Without the nukes acting as a constant deterrent on one side, Serral could have easily defended the base on the other side from the small bio army that kept sniping it.

At Master level, I guess if you want to beat Zerg late-game you need to learn to micro ghosts as casters.
I think the nukes are important to distract serral and cause panic but yes ghost snipe/emp with the libs are very important to terran lategame
@@slugfiller Fair enough. I guess we'll see how quickly Blizzard moves to nerf Ghosts like they nerfed the Raven's Anti-Armor missile.
saw one of these match's on Lowko's channel. Don't even care if I watch it again. This match up is way to amazing not to watch again. Add-on Winter and nukes...auto click.
Broodlords? Sure, then i will use nuke
what a game :D love every second ^.^
That Is same like Maru vs Dark :D but with out nukes
When are you going to cast an event? Tbh some of the caster are snoozers like wardi or that girl
