Game 2 is Game of the Year for me; absolute no quit in Gumiho and it paid off. Watched it live and physically stood up and cheered out loud when GG hit the screen
Did you even watch game 1 ? Serral was not having fun, he was getting destroyed, he eventually managed to sense a weakness and counterattacked, but his creep, map control and chances of winning overall were quite low. Game 2 was quite the opposite. Serral was winning big, but Gumiho was desperate, he counterattacked big, played out of this world and Serral was unable to keep up
Serral is the epitome of the Eternal Will of the Swarm. No matter how hard and well you fight, he can not be stopped, he can only be slowed down before he adjusts and ultimately devours you.
He has definitely strengthened his resolve. A lesser player would have been bullied into a defensive play style but not Serral. He adapted well and found the answer to mech and made it look easy.
@@karlhans6678 yup Terrans can't go late game too because once the infestor number is high your late game units will all be neuraled then all your units are dead

I find her commetary to be cogent and timely. She must also compete with other shoutcasters, or here, stay on top of Pig lest he says something nasty, in this, a family game. 😘
I think ZG has improved a lot as a caster but my issue with her is her constant repeat of the same word. I think she used the same word over a 100 times in this matchup. I don´t wanna play the role of a word-police but once you hear it you cannot "un-hear" it and it gets to the point of becoming highly distracting. Ironically enough her co-casters starts doing the same in every match as well.
Gumhi got to the finals playing builds that other weren't use to. This was a match dependent on how many builds Gumhi had in his bag versus Serrals ability to adapt and get to late game (since all late game has access to the tech tree.) This also means the longer the series the more regression to the mean and a higher chance for serral to win
Oh you used the phrase, regression to the mean. My compliments. Also, the more maps, the more skill-dependent the outcome. Who wants to bet against Serral in a series first to 100?
GuMiho teleports his battlecruiser to the top of the infestors, allowing his enemy to parasite it and even "Yamato" himself. It's hilarious, which is why GuMiho deserves second place. Very funny.
It's not op... it's just very easy to play. Serral gets to practice playing the same exact macro game 1000 times in custom games, and he's basically ready for the tournament. If he doesn't mess it up - he wins. A terran must come up with an inspired unexpected build (not one of course, but enough to last the entire tournament), and keep doing so for every tournament. That's why Serral can be dominant for a year and a half, while even the best terrans like Maru drop tournaments and series left and right. It's just too easy. Serral is complete shit compared to Maru, but in terms of results they could be very close. People are dumb so they call Serral a GOAT, but I guess if the game is broken then whoever picks the easier race will be the GOAT.
@@alk672 Yea man, Zerg just has so many units that are absolute game changers and require incredible macro and skill to even have a chance at countering, namely infesters and vipers. Whereas Terrans don't really have anything like that of their own. Sure Ghost EMP is annoying, but it won't wipe an army, and it doesn't do much vs a careful Zerg anyway.

Why isn’t there a version of this game with multiple people playing on one team? An overarching commander and one controlling base resources, maybe two for controlling smaller armies. It’d allow people to focus more on smaller aspects while the commander handles the overall strategy
You could allow for transferring of control of units to different leaders, so the base commander could have a small defense force while the attack commander has other units. I guess the drawback is having to have friends to play with, but imagine the competitive games??
There used to be a custom map like this back in sc1 but I can't remember the name of it. Iust have spent years of my life only playing custom sc1 matches back then. The immensity of customs was sorely missed in sc2
Am I the only one who thinks that Serral 100% had game 2 if he knew the scv count of Gumiho, I'm pretty sure he tapped out thinking Gumiho must've had a secret base or something because Gumiho did not stop pushing and somehow kep't appearing with more marines.
This is so incredibly unfair. Terran must perform precise micro everywhere there's action, and if he's late one time the game is oftentimes over. Zerg just a-moves and right-click moves, sometimes on the mini map. You can't possibly take this seriously as a competition. Hate it when casters start blabbering about Serral's insane multitasking; his multitasking is a-moving a pack of ling-bane and moving the camera elsewhere.
How come there's never burrows or crawlers in bases being constantly hit by runs? I feel like the cost of 6 zerglings you likely plan to a-move at the marines and look away, is better spent on crawlers for defense, no? Clearly I'm not in the Grand Finals, but
