    Utterly lovely, thank you so much. I just bought a 2005 vfr with 40k kilometers, and after 400 it started making that typical noise.
    Imagine my happiness when I found that out, especially as I had just fixed the cct on my other Honda Nighthawk. I was like "please not that again"...
    Honda really has some genius ideas when creating these amazing motorcycles, but forgets some details that are essential, like putting a rubber protection for the tensioner spring, which operates inside the engine at its temperatures. I mean, no wonder the spring stops working properly after some time...
    Anyway thank you so much for this guide. ❤

    It would be amazing to see how to do the "stop-mod" (common between VTR owners) in order to prevent the tensioner to be fully compressed ad so avoiding the chain to jump off (with dramatic consequences) when the spring fails.
    It seems that this auto-CCT are not reliable, but i would like to avoid mounting a manual CCT on my bike becuse i don't think is the right way to work fornthat part.
    Sorry for my bad english, i hope to have been clear enough.

    The oil presure affects the tension of the cct? Mi 600rr cam chain is rattling. I unscrew the cct just about 3mm and then i screwed it back on, it solved the problem for about 30 miles 😂. My bike has 9k miles 🤦‍♂️. Should I put a new cct or do you think I should use 10w40 oil? I'm using 10w30 right now

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  Рік тому

      Almost every bike needs 10W40 oil, my VFR1200 specifically says 10W30 in the manual, that's the only one I've ever seen. The CCT is worn, tighten it up like in the video or replace it, you choice.

    Really appreciate this. Great job. Do you think it is practicable on a motorcycle with 40,000 miles, or is it really to be replaced? I suppose, the hardest job is about the spring, and it will be cool if Honda will sell just that.

    My bike wasn't making this noise last time I ran it probably about 4 moths ago . I started it up yesterday and out of nowhere now it's making that annoying clicking/ticking noise. Any idea as to why out of nowhere it would do that? I can't wrap my head around why it would just randomly start doing that.?? Oh and thanks for the vid. Very informative and I am going to attempt to do this possibly this evening just was curious if anyone else's just randomly started out of nowhere after bike had sat for awhile but you're certain it wasn't put away last time you rode it making that noise? And if that's common way for it to take place or no. Thanks for any/all helpful input/info!!

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  2 роки тому

      Not being able to hear your bike, the description could be a few things. The cam chains make a rattle type sound that goes away when you bring the RPM up. The fuel injectors tick and get louder with age sometimes. They still tick as you raise rpm but the sound of the engine drowns them out. This does not mean they need to be replaced. Use a length of hose like a stethoscope to help determine where the noise is coming from and Good Luck!

    I have a question. I just purchased an 07 VFR with 3k miles on it. In first gear it lugs as if in a higher gear at low speed. Is that normal?

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  2 роки тому

      No Jack they don't. Just to clarify the engine is lugging, this is not final drive chain lash you're experiencing? This happens when the chain binds on its links and the sprockets are worn out. What condition is the air filter in? Beyond that the sparkplugs and check the vacuum lines and sensors attached to the airbox, that they are plugged into the harness. There are two on the 6th gen, one on the top and one on the bottom. Good Luck!
