The "evil side" was so relatable. My fav was rumple. I miss him and Regina a lot. They always made my day. They had such a intense and multilayered dynamic friendship/hate relationship.

countgreg95 i don't think they downplayed it, because Regina was actually losing her darkness. They had to set up her loss of vengeance, bitterness, and anger (since magic is based on emotion), so that her light magic would be powerful enough to defeat Zelena
I love how Zelena expresses her jealously towards her sister & tells Regina that she had the royalty life that zelena always wanted & cora never wanted or loved zelena

The father who raised you is a drunk and the kind mother who brought you in her house is dead. Your father keeps drinking, making you do chores and keeps calling you 'Wicked' each time you display your talents. If things weren't worst, your sibling got the life they didn't deserve. Jewels, royalty, everything! Not only that, but you deserve the royalty!
Both sisters are right. Regina has everything only Cora want for her, her mother doesn't care of her willing and choices. Zelena simply live with a horrible man as adoptive father.

Zelena was very unfair towards Regina. She should have turned her anger towards Rumple or Cora, not Regina. Regina for once was innocent. She was not accountable for the choices that Cora and Rumple made.
Here is a thought....Maybe Zelena opened the portal knowing Emma will fall through and bring back Maid Marian because she know Emma has too much of a conscience and thats how she is planning on ruining Regina's life

Also, at the end, Lana perfectly portrays Regina with the line, “Someone to destroy!” She is like a Greek Goddess, specifically Dread Persephone: she is incredibly gorgeous and many times loving, but she’s still a killer. She can and will torture a person for years with techniques like Catherine Wheels, Thumbscrews, Blood Eagles, Crucification, Brazen Bulls, Breast Rippers, Waterboarding, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Drawing and Quartering, and Skewering without any remorse. At the end of this scene, we can see her truest form: diabolical, conniving, and obsessive. All results of the child abuse and neglect that she suffered from her mother. At the moment, her mother is dead, so she redirects her wrath to her sister. Her behavior is sociopathic. I, personally, believe she is a high-functioning sociopath, which is not a bad thing. Sociopathy is a personality disorder, not a conscious choice. However, lack of fault does not equal safety. She is good, she is loving, she deserves the best, but she is also mentally-scarred in unflattering ways that cannot and should not be romanticized.

I feel like a lot of the fairy tale counter part characters are a little too casual and modern like. Like Zelena. Pretty sure that's not how the real Wicked Witch of the West spoke...or looked. In fact, the fairy tale counter part world just looks like a school play poorly put together.
