Thanks very much, Dylan, these effects look amazing on your video. However I can't get the options that you show when I try to duplicate what you're teaching. When I select the Frame effect I don't see an option to choose the amount or to choose different frame options. I'm using FCP 10.6.5 so I think it's the latest version. How do I see the controls you're seeing? Clicking the Transitions icon doesn't do it on my Mac even though it did when you did it in your video. I must be missing something simple.
Hey Jim, these are all effects, so you can find them in your effects browser. The frame effect can be adjusted in your inspector window which can be accessed when clicking the button at the top right of the interface.

Not sure why it didn't come up right away but by clicking the little "show" and "hide" words on top of the inspector the Frames effect control did appear and I could choose a frame and adjust its size. This "photo recall" effect is nice, I thought it would be handy using it to insert horizontal footage in a vertical video, but this isnt working proper. do you have an idea how to do it in a quicker way or is it easier building it myself in motion?
Dylan, in a recent video I commented that you wanted me to switch to Final Cut. Well... now I bought the new (not so new) Macbook Pro 16' M1 Max 32 GB. So it is one step closer lol. I am so excited to open the PC :-) It felt quite heavy tho. Have you experienced a 16' and traveling with it? I hope I did not make a mistake and should have chosen the 14'
Awesome Vegard! Definitely make the switch. I have the 14' but sometimes I wish I had the 16' actually. I can't tell you whether it was the right choice or not for you though.
@@dylanjohndickerson oh right. The 14` was tempting too, Maybe in the next year, I will make enough money from my freelancing so that I can buy a 14`too. I am very happy with the keyboard, I am just setting the MAC up now, I am excited to test it´s power with some programs now :-D
I tried the "voice isolation" tool you recommended in a previous video to help reduce the tinny sound to my voice when recording on wooden floors. The tool works great on the sound, but now when I run through the video the sound goes all distorted/off time/robotic on the clips where I applied that effect. Do you think that's just a render issue that will correct itself when I export?
Interesting! I'm not sure actually. Just do a test render and render out a section of the video by using the Range tool to select that area and then heading to share.
As a person who only used Final Cut Pro for 3 months... All of the effects you mentioned were new to me. Thanks so much for introducing these amazing effects!
Some good reminders of what you get out of the box, thanks. Please do more like these, dissecting what options each FCP transition has built into and so forth. I've learn't a lot from your channel and am seriously sitting down to edit 24TB of African wildlife adventures now so its great reminders to keep things simple and look how I can achieve nice results using FCP rather than a complicated plugin etc. I love your channel 🙂

Hey man! I'm not entirely sure. I actually haven't tried out the effect in a vertical video. I think Motion is going to be your best best.
