We're so sorry. If you came across a Heal Stalling Potemkin + a Medic Baiken / Medic Potemkin that were all low floors that uhh.. yeah. We're sorry. It was a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation and we weren't expecting to wipe yall lol
There has been problems across fighting games as a whole but strives balance issues, lack of new comers to the roster, returning characters getting added along with their kits getting too over simplified so much that casuals and competitive players are leaving cause of how bland characters are to play which ironically the point on simplifying the characters was so they could appeal to a larger audience by being easy to play and the cutting of old game modes and mechanics cause the game was rushed is really not good for this games legacy or longevity.
This was probably the best comment i have seen. I completely agree with you, they made the game too simple. I went back and played Xrd Rev 2 and that is such a good game.
True, hard balance to strike having characters be difficult and complex but being simple to pick up low entry floor with high skill ceiling, I think their past couple characters have just lacked the difficulty curve with slayer elphelt and dizzy
@@Raynfgc Thing is I watched a video from a creator name troxus who shows slayer is more than capable of having complex longer string combos similar to xrd but the damage and fact you need rc to do them doesn’t allow him to do so along with the fact that they would be considered unoptimal
It saids a lot when they still haven't fix the load times for opening the game. And The Lobbies are still shit. Then again Arc Games always have Terrible Lobbies.
Yes, the most weird thing is to increase the health and buff damage at the same time. For what? I think 30s per round is a bit too fast. Also, I would like to say, why they add rank matchmaking into 3v3 but not single duel? Maybe they believe to refuse duel with some characters is a better option for balancing?
I only played granblue fantasy versus rising and street fighter. The battle pace for these two games are much slower. GGS is my first GG series game. I do not know if all GG games are so fast.
Why increase damage when you want to increase the number of interactions on the matches, characters like sol slayer and pot cannot touch you once if you don’t want to lose 75% of your HP
It makes the games longer because the damage is also modified by tension and combo scaling. Also certain moves were highly increased in damage which was a way of increasing the risk reward. If you actually looked at the documentation for the patch or watch a few matches you can clearly see it.
the most shameless thing is adding normal matchmaking to 3vs3 ( a niche mode that will die in 1 week) and still leaving the trash tower system in the main game???
Reworking characters is a great way to make people quit the game. Its not a fucking beta, the game has been out for years, yoi have to leave peoples characters be at this point.
The game is 4 years old now people are and have already quite the game, everyone knows fightig games especially the anime ones dont retain a huge part of their original player base. Changing the game now bring some players like me back cause we have gotten tired of the forumla for these characters that existed and are excited to try out new things for these characters.
@ Actually, its 3, but yeah, I feel Skullgirls (that one update notwithstanding), had some pretty interesting updates and new characters well after its original heyday was up.
Unlike other game companies, ArcSys (post 2018) doesn’t want you to play like you want or how you used to play, they want you to play like how they think “Modern Audiences” should play according to them
Thank you for talk about Chipp. He is so destroyed right now, they eliminated his most important route to do more damage in a consistent way, all for a rope that is so situational. Count how many Chipps you encounter in ranked, yes, none, because the character doesn't work consistently like previous this patch.
Fully agree I’ve put my stick down and started playing something else until I can’t stand it. Guess I can give Bridget another go but idk so much time wasted…
@@JG0en187 is very healthy to play something else meanwhile, to avoid the rage to not have the most damage safe and consistent route. Bridg is in the same state of Chipp, with a route eliminated, but with two new ones, so, you have to adapt it again, I think only pros can handle all this changes. The time, wasted, indeed, is very hard, I've like 150 hours with Chipp :c
@ I’m in the same situation I’ve been a Chipp player since drop honestly before Strive. I’m hoping they get this fixed so I can go back. Thanks for the heads up about Bridget I’ll get into the “training room” and check him/her out I’m sure I’ll suck for a while but I just can’t play Chipp right now.
4:57 im glad somebody addressed the severity of the chipp changes. Ive played him for a good minute now and you could imagine the shock I had when his main bread and butter combo was just flat out removed from the game. All to accommodate for his new tightrope move
@ it’s not the same tho. If you do the delay kick into 2S, 2HS the second alpha blade will just straight up miss. You use to be able to just up and loop this but it fails after just one time
@@kakashi-__-vi I'm a Chipp main too, and the first thing I did when I found out the old BnB "didn't work" is prove that it *DOES* work. You *CAN* still do 2S > 2H > K Alpha > j.K (1) > 66 c.S > 2S > 2h > K Alpha > j.K (1) > j.66 j.K (1) > j.D. The only change is the timing is more strict. Even then, tightrope gives you an easier BnB that does more damage.
To add to the Testament case, Millia is also one of those characters that's been mid to low tier for a while, they give her some small buffs, slap her with a huge Capel nerf (which was very important to her) and making her the lowest hp character in the game on top of that (while giving Chipp a new move and a ton of buffs) P.S. No, it's not a Konakon alt, I'm another one of 35 Millia mains in the world
It’s been so long since I’ve had any interaction with anything guilty gear related yet I thought of Konakon when reading this 😭 (I’m also one of the 35 millia mains.)
Not even mentioning that Chipp now has more consistent mix and damage than Millia now Not to hate on Chipp, I love Chipp, but Millia is HURTING right now. They gave Chipp a rope and nerfed Millia's Kapel for the sake of "Character Identity", but now Chipp is just an objectively better version of Millia. He can mix in neutral, skip neutral, and now has Oki that's as reliable if not more reliable than Millia's. Millia has to play footsies, only gets damage from air combos (which she doesn't even have access to anymore due to her Kapel nerfs), and an Oki disk that can now be counterplayed by half of the cast. I like playing Millia as a super speedy whiff-punisher that gets mix from punishing your opponent from being greedy, and snowballing offense through capitalizing on niche moments. But modern fighting games seem to HATE Okizeme and do whatever they can to nerf it, but instead give people the ability to mix in neutral with little to no preparation or work. This added to the Ed nerfs in SF6 has made me a bit of a doomer in regards to modern FGs lol
@@averysketchygamer3241 Millia was really hurt, she now has longer combos, Switch side even, but all other stuff that you mention are true, she is really nerfed
I really think they did this because of the new massive amount of drones that will come to strive when they release Lucy from Cyperpunk Edge Runners, I have been in and out of strive since season 2, I got back into it when Asaka was released and then i fell off hard. Got back in when Elphet was released, realized she was so braindead to play as and i then i dropped the game again. Picked it up when ABA came out, love her, played longer, and dropped it again. I recently picked it up when Dizzy came out and said "What the fuck happened to this game???" Dizzy's colors look so bland and washed out. I miss the old Dizzy's colors for her spirits. I went back to Xrd Rev 2.
you have finally woken up man. realize that strive is nothing but a cheap downgrade of guilty gear, oversimplifying mechanics, shorter combos (should never belong in any 2d fighting games except either samsho or 3d fighters like tekken, vf, doa, etc) and that garbage wallbreak mechanic that is in strive that slows down, they ruined all of their characters, aba is slow, has barely any combos, slayer is...dear god what the hell did they do to slayer!?, and don't even get me started what they did to ramlethal and dizzy, they took away ram's combinations and dizzy, has barely any combos either. we need more people to realize that strive is nothing but a pale imitation that uses the name of the guilty gear franchise, strive is the "brawl" of guilty gear and always will be considered nothing more than a cheap ass cashgrab. stop playing strive and riot for a XRD 3.
The way balanced is so wierd. My character (bedman?) gets his guard crush loops removed for what? A slightly better recovering bed install while sol players almost get a whole rework and ky players get a rework to the shock state. The top tier characters didnt need it and only further divided the top tiers from the rest of the cast
If its any consolation, sol's are also dooming about the patches (he's still good I think(?) but he's just not nearly as fun). It was enough of a change in character feel to make me stop playing sol at least (would rather they just have flat nerfed his damage at this point). Wild that they buffed high-tiers and nerfed low-tiers though. And why? Nobody asked for 90% of the changes they made and the 10% are useless because of the other changes and bugs. Sad direction to see the game go man...
fyi ky has been nerfed hard, shock state has not been reworked at all and still does not last long enough to matter. FA which was combo tool now lost even that purpose and still consumes now increasingly important shock. They deleted DE CH mid screen pick up completely. 6H is now - fucking 26 making it very niche. We got some stuff but overall ky is now probably around bottom 10.
@@MarkoLomovicI feel you on that change. I play Sin, who is really good right now, I’d wager top 7-8, but god damn is far slash’s recovery dogshit right now.
Honestly, as a pot player, i gotta say that the removal of karas was just not a well thought out move, and the character feels worse because of it. I know he may actually be better than he was before, but he doesnt feel better to play. I still havent gotten armored pot buster to ever be useful. Also, if they wanted to make pot combos easier, they also failed at that, since instant hfb isnt easy either
From what I can remember their reasoning for increasing defense and the damage of some move is that they wanted there to be a move that if you get hit by it is like o shit and the rest to do less damage. Obviously they did not achieve this. The patch was very good in concept but fails in execution in some areas. I actually like this patch relearning sol is fun but not every one feels this way I just want his damage to be toned down it feels easier to get higher damage combos.
I don't play this game a whole lot (at least not compared to other ways I spend my time...) I picked this game up around the start of season 3 as the first fighting game I wanted to actually learn. As of writing this, I have about 215 hours. I main Chipp and he got a lot of reworks even if you don't consider the rope. While I can acknowledge that Season 4 has some changes that I would have preferred not to see (Kara on pot., Leo getting screwed, so on) I personally don't mind things like combo routes getting changed. I had a lot of fun learning how Chipp's combos worked pre-patch. Finally getting a combo to land in a match with friends after practicing it was really satisfying. Once I had put a decent amount of time into the game climbing the tower, labbing combos, and playing the arcade on the steam deck, I put the game down. I was satisfied with my purchase and walked away knowing there was a game I could jump back into and mess around on with friends after work. When I heard that a large number of the combos I used to do were no longer available, I was a little disappointed, but that disappointment was quickly replaced with interest in the new combo routes I got to learn. After all, my favorite part of the game was learning how it worked with the community, and I now finally get to experience that again. So for me, I was pretty pleased with the changes from season 4. I know Chipp players didn't get it as bad as other characters, but I only really play Chipp so I cannot comment on any one else. At least from my perspective, these changes and bugs affect certain people more than others. Strive influencers and high-end competitive players will "change career paths," while casual players like me will barely notice the more game-breaking stuff and still have plenty of fun with the game. I have faith that Arcsys will hear the complaints, see the poor Steam reviews, and address them accordingly. We are fortunate that this game is made by a reputable company... *cough* *looks at the vast majority of the AAA game industry* I don't think I'm alone when I say I am still excited to see where season 4 brings the game because after all, its about the journey, not the destination.
100% still excited for season 4 I think it's just a balance on the severity of the changes vs time investment, if you spent thousands of hours on pot practising his kara cancel gameplay then you need to basically relearn him from the ground up it means that your time investment doesn't have any active usage anymore, an example is last patch bedman got a vacuum on his j.s which opened so many different combo routes to play With and not removing any of his old routes, and I get you can't have endless routes but some characters I think missed the mark in this first version
@@Raynfgc Oh absolutely! The more time you invest in the game the more major changes to your character are gonna affect you. Different people want different things from the game. For me, (someone who doesn't have 1000 in the game and plays more casually) the changes don't hurt too much. I didn't even notice some of the more egregious and game-breaking stuff until it was pointed out. What I'm really interested to see is how Arcsys will adjust. We saw how in past seasons Arcsys saw the feedback from players and made adjustments (some better some worse). Since Seaons 4's additions are all spread out between characters, I would imagine it is going to be a lot harder to adjust. Characters who got major changes to their fundamental gameplay like Potempkin and Goldlewis are harder to address since a simple bug fix won't address the issues people have with them. I will require an examination of game design, which they probably were not planning on doing, all while putting out the rest of the characters in season 4.
As a casual that just plays with friends, this patch doesn't really effect me that much. Like every character is missing moves from Xrd anyway so if my character is different after a patch it's fine.
Dawg, the potemkin kara cancel is like half of his identity (other half is deleting chipp, millia and baiken), unless you're like a day 1 player who just kinda stumbled upon the game because it was cheap or something you know what potemkin does.
i bought the game back in season two specifically because i saw a player doing karas with potemkin and thought it was the coolest thing ever. now $40 and 300 hours in they're removed from the game and i have to stop playing because there's nothing in the game for me anymore.
@@salreishope were all those 300 hours spent doing kara cancels is the training room? cause if not there may be a chance you enjoy other aspects of the game
@@puhteeah4876 nah i've tried the whole cast in and out of training mode and enjoy some of them somewhat but i loved going to locals and having a blast with people from my region the most. without potemkin it just feels hollow, so after going one time in season 4 i had to bow out.
3:33 if anything, new Potemkin routes require even more APM than the old kara routes. I mean at least you got a break between your KbMf inputs while you wait for the animation to finish. In the new patch, EVERY SINGLE COMBO has like four goddamn hammer fall breaks which requires you to hold charge and then press punch at lightning speed to cancel, and then follow up with whatever special or normal comes next in your route. And that’s not even mentioning how blue wild assault and fast RRC in metered routes add a ton of super fast inputs. As someone who really liked the precision and intentionality of the kara combo system in comparison to other characters that require really fast inputs and quick reaction time for confirms, I was seriously disappointed with this patch.
Let me get this straight. Same people who are lamenting their "skill expression" of tight inputs done in single digit number of frames being gone are now complaining about doing tightly timed inputs? Ah ha ha ha Just be grateful that we don't have to do XRD 6k loops
@@HellecticMojo you are misunderstanding. Yes both inputs are “tightly timed” but the old inputs focused more on knowing exactly when to press each button and knowing exactly how to move the stick in a precise way, where the overall speed that you are inputting at is low compared to other character. However the new system flips that on its head, and instead of emphasising the unique motion inputs and timing required by kara combos, it instead just required you to do tons of different inputs extremely quickly with much less thought given to the precise timing of your button presses and motions compared to the old patch
@@EvansMine You did not need to think on the previous kara at all. Kara and non kara moves were not interchangeable. If you were thinking as a Pot player previously, you were playing it wrong.
While all I've heard about Chip are mostly good things, as a slow learning player it's been hell trying to understand rope and use it knowing full well that I have to because the other options are not there anymore and sometimes I forget that
As someone who vibed really well with testament the BUFF to Johnny and effective nerf on testament felt like John arksys personally looked me in the like Willy winks and said “you get NOTHING, good DAY SIR”
As a mediocre player that on plays against friends with the rare floor 9 bout, even im feeling pretty confused about alot of the changes. Like why is chipp tankier than millia now? Did Johnny or Goldlewis REALLY need those buffs? Did Potemkin need to have Karas removed? Also DID HE NEED A FULL SCREEN GUARD CRUSH WITH CHIP DAMAGE, ARMOR, AND ALMOST NO RECOVERY? And also i don't really play sol but the changes to fafnir just seem really redundant when they made 214S basically the same button in a combo without the wall bounce
I seriously miss blazblue I haven’t been able to enjoy a fighting game as much as I did BB but if they do bring it back chances are they will find a way to ruin it 😢
Dude, being honest, I’d be fine going back to season 3 status (minus the HMC changes, keep those) and take a hefty damage cut, so long as I got to keep more approach and pressure mix. Sol feels so much more one-dimensional this patch. Idk if was really a buff or nerf overall (aside from really appreciating HMC), but it could’ve been a massive buff for all I care; I just don’t like the direction the changes took. I hear Ram mains have a similar opinion on her.
It's insane how this game had so much hype and hope for it before it was released and all it took was the wrong localizers and a desire to censor and retcon character lore to bring the whole thing tumbling down. It didn't even take long either. I'd even go as far as to say it just nose dived the moment Bridget got added. It's not just the Bridgette cultists but also just how they utterly rewrote his lore in the western copy. And now their advocation for censorship with this update to where now you can't even fucking see character models in photo mode with their ass in full view without the model vanishing to keep you from "doing bad things". Going mainstream has been a huge blow to GG's credibility and it's absolutely pathetic. I doubt we'll get another game after this and even if we do, who's gonna buy it after this shit?
1. Damn you should write a thesis to explain all those meaningless talking points. 2.the game has been selling better than any other strive game so wouldnt worry about the future. 3. Damn if the people so upset with the changes are part of a thirsty femboy lusters, glad aint on that side.
I think its funny that they're making the game soo easy that even casuals are getting sick of it. part of the joy of fighting games is being able to pull off sick combos that very few others can. so when you make it possible for everyone to do it, even 12 yr old timmy, then whats the point of labbing, or watching tournaments? i remember when this game came out and thought people were insane when they believed the combos were "SICK" despite the fact you werent doing any combos unless you were sol badguy or had 50 tension.
this is a really good point, I think its such a hard balance to strike making it accessible and fun to new players while also having the insane complexity and mechanical difficulty, I think changes like direction inputs on steady aim stance and like the j.2k bounce on hc just makes it to perform a lot easier combos and play him while not taking away that skill factor
In a way, it's not all about offense but also a lot about how to use defensive mechanics. It's not easy to find where to hit against a Jack-O, a Zato, or an Asuka that knows what they are doing. I kinda understand what is your point, but to learn perfectly your character, all the different situations, to learn other chars match-up in a deep way and not only on surface and to apply it all in duels is still far from being this easy to anyone.
@@jessierocket8227 this too 100% those characters just don't have gaps, a good example is bridget, best way to open a gap is to FD but how would a new player know how to do that, also knowing guard crush and the properties it gives but thats a whole other thing xD
genuinely, imagine making a fighting game for casuals only for casuals to get sick of the game, they did the same shit to blazblue with bbtag and it failed but this garbage cashgrab of a fighting game can sell 4 million units but not xrd which is an infinitely better game than strive!?
@@smashbrosgoat BBTag was pretty bad. But the biggest issue it had besides fundamental character changes was the fact Covid happened and they pretty much discontinued support for the game after releasing 3 busted characters for the 2nd season pass and didn't add the remaining like 20 characters that were promised.
I think the issue is that they probably changed teams, thus why the balance is so wierd, the bugs rampant, and the release RIIIIIIIGHT at the finish line.
Ram never needed a rework. She needed more obviously clear choices for her opponent during her RPS. After playing her since season 1, absolutely nothing I know applies to this new Ram.
Exactly and what pisses me off the most is that people have not said jack shit about how awful reworked ramlethal is, tell arcsys to stop fixing what isn't broken.
bruh Arcsys makes the most beautiful games in terms of art, but gameplay its always an issue in terms of balancing, Street Fighter 6 is waay more enjoyable than this. I have no idea what;s their plan with this game, no one asked for 3VS3 Mode, making skins makes more sense.
@@Xein17 true, i love blazblue for the very fact that it's a game full of combo freedom and potential, i know the next smash will probably resurrect the video game industry..i KNOW IT!
Wow let remove a core mechanic that has been in the game for more than 3 years from this character that has s cult like following, surely nothing will go wrong (i can say that pot mains are in a cult because im a member of it)
One thing that has happened to me since the first day I started playing the game is that the map of (¨Ajatar Hunting Ground¨) That forest map is a map that I hate with my soul when it appears, because for some non-existent reason the I find the game lagging a lot, even my rival is lagging and I don't know why. That horrible map next to that of (¨Lap of the Kami¨ although to a lesser extent) They are the only two maps in which it is unbearable for me to play on them because of the slowdown, especially the first one, it doesn't happen with other maps...
You're absolutely right about Riven, mains would drop her instantly. Funnily enough though, they still changed the entire fundamental structure of an entire role a few seasons ago (Jungle) and well... lately it went from being one of the most contested roles to it being more probable that you'll get autofilled to Jungle instead of Support (previously the least contested role). Idk why ArcSys did what they did to Pot, but man I hate the fact that I figured out Kara canceling through that one mission only for it to be obsolete... At least Pot's not my main I guess.
Ive played Strive since June 2023 when Asuka was still a newish character, and I main Sin Kiske, Slayer and Dizzy. Sin Kiske is fine, but why did they have to add guard crushes to everything but not buff eat, Slayer should be nerfed and Dizzy was over simplified, where is Necro. Honestly with my over 660+ hours in the game, Im burnt out to the level were I just dont find as much enjoyment in the game. Especially after Potemkin got that huge buff.
Im probably one the few people that is fine with or even very happy with this patch. It has made the game fresh and excited to try out new things that can be done with the characters instead of waiting for a entirely game to do that. Although seems like most people arent happy and from a business idea arcycs needs to avoid these kinds crazy changes if does effect it.
As a sol main i used to love how he felt but they changed all his routes which doesnt sit right for me. Due to nerfing all sols other options he will become more of a Close slash far slash machine which is what everyone hated. The combo expression that I loved has just been removed for the bland combos that arcsys wants me to do. 300 plus hours of learning combos down the drain because acrysys wants me to play the way they want. Used to love guardcrush fafnir but arcsys decided to change it. All for combo damage which he already had before. These changes I cannot get behind and when I loaded on to play and saw what they changed I just dropped the game. Havent played since.
yeah it always does feel demoralizing when characters get redesigned in fighting games due to the time sink and everything you learned being destroyed ;c
Meanwhile, I’m playing casually saying. - wow this girl fights with yo yos - dude this girl fights with a spirit dog - wow dang this guy fights with a coffin I’m liking It .. and I’m just playing on arcade
Think my biggest issue is dizzy, i love the character and considered playing her seriously but compared to the other characters that play midscreen well, why would you ever since they can do it better, with more consistent and better rewards. This game makes me feel like a scrub always thinking that they only won cause of their character is not only more accessible but better as well and i hate feeling like that
she definitely feels like she is in a weird spot where she gets outzoned by zoners, and neutral skipped by everyone else however im not sure if she is 'bad' will have to see with more time but the frustration is there
dizzy right now is the only character not represented in the top 100 players, every other character is represented, she's just too new of a character -- so far she's considered low tier but with the way strive is low tiers can still have competitive success i just dont think enough time has passed even with this gap in higher and lower tiers in the game its still surprisingly balanced compared to other fighting games like smash ultimate, it's a shame to see some of these changes and we can only hope that they fix bugs and maaaaaybe revert or tweak some existing changes?
yeah this balancing patch felt like it had the same balance team quality as league of legends. Bunch of stupid shit that don't make sense and feel like they were done by a kid that barely plays the game and wants only the characters they like on top.
@@Raynfgc Well, it is partly understandable since mob characters are much less complex than fighting characters, although it cannot be denied how unbalanced it is to have all those characters.
Finally someone who understands how I feel when they just change the character and all the combos you know disappear. I stopped playing GGST in season 2 when they kinda did that to baiken and her flying combos with youzansen. I don't plan to go back. Great video
I love the patch it makes longer matches and more bursts. However patches are always bad for fighting games, third strike and mvc2 if a perfect example of lack of patches increasing longevity. Also this notion of having to relearn long trained skills destroying time investment is my go to argument against patches. It only benefits tournament players nobody else has the time to learn a new game every few months. It’s just cruel and rude for players who aren’t daily players. Chess is arguably the longest lived most popular competitive game of all time. The consistency of rules is still allowing for creativity. The incredible damage plus tank equals more chances and extra bursts.
There’s a lot I like about this patch, but there’s obviously some glaring issues (which isn’t necessary about the strengths of the characters). Some of the things I like, the way they have slightly reworked certain characters. As a Sol main, I knew he was busted and would never lie about it. Had great close to mid range, being able to convert to high damage combo. Had many mix up options (and more with rc). Had invincible reversal. Had command grab and had the lowest move in the game that could basically go under every ungrounded moves. Now, it’s more difficult for him to get in and removes a lot of his BS like bandit bringer having different speed depending on height, or being able to be delayed etc. But, his close range conversion is even stronger now. Yes, technically overall, he’s weaker, I find his redesign to make more sense, while still being fun once you understand it. But then you have Ram, who has gotten better in a way different than her previous version, but the redesign has made her more boring (according to lots of ram players). I definitely think she needed a rework, because even before, she wasn’t exactly the most interesting character, but now is even more bland in gameplay. Though, the reason I do like this patch overall is that while extremely messy (why’d they nerf Axl, bro), they did kind of achieve their goal. Which is low risk options give less damage. High risk give high damage. So while some complain that moves got damage buffs, which negates the health buff, that’s kind of the point. The moves buffed were so you get high rewards for using them. Sol is a perfect example. His 5k was low risk, but extremely rewarding. Now. It’s relatively low risk, but is no where near as rewarding as before. But, land any of his S or HS, especially near a wall, you’re in for a treat. Same with May. Nerfed her quick options, but improved the rewards of her HS moves. Honestly still think health should be buffed more.
Sol as a character is completely gutted and no longer feels the same, Nagoriyuki is unfun to play, Potemkin's kara cancel was completely gutted (which is funny to me because Nago still has his Kara cancel), Goldlewis is obscenely broken, and there are numerous game breaking bugs. Really, the only characters that came out like villains to me were Slayer and Baiken, especially Baiken.
Everyone! Just to let you all know that, digital figure mode is completely censor! Is you try to view from behind it's completely censored by changing the camera angles. I am so done with Guilty Gear Strive forever!
Good vid and let’s hope that whatever they do after fixes it makes something happen cause not many are happy with this patch . I was mildly weary of this patch but when I saw Goldlewis doing LEAF HURRICANE with Typhoons I knew yea this patch will be cursed . Between all the bugs , ToDs and most of mains getting a nerfs or nothing really to experiment with what u have. I can conclude that this is probably the worst patch since the beginning of S3 with wild assaults being at full strength. P.S leffen says anything is broken so I wouldn’t use testimony from the guy who used HC bck when he could guard crush loop and no one cheered for him when he won a evo .
Something I've experienced is that the newest DLC Character (Queen Dizzy) causes my game to lag whenever I fight as or against her it's pretty strange. Also this balance patch is pretty wack.
Omg I've been experiencing the same issue. A shame too, because I really wanted to play her. But I guess I'll still have the older games where she vibes with me more.
Fix the bugs and add decent MMR matchmaking when Lucy drops. The player numbers will triple and stay tripled. It's really that simple. This is one of the best fighting games ever made being held back by stupid decision after stupid decision.
bars, honestly the rank system from 3v3 would be enough, mmr ranked and lucy will bring casuals in and make them stay coz they have a tailored sense of progression u can work with and improve upon
To keep things fresh, the game has beem out for 4 years now, we have had our fun with those same inputs and combos now we can try new and different things with the characters.
Man I took a break like 4 months ago cuz of personal stuff and now that I am about to come back I get greeted by this lmao. I hope all of this gets sorted out soon.
Very often a solution to a character being degenerate like Potemkin, is to make a new one that's a softer take on the idea. ArcSyS instead decided they know what's fun better than mains.
Did the recent patch (yesterday, I think) that was supposed to fix this help at all? I just got back into GGST, but damn, did I pick a horrible time to get back in.
How bad would you say this is at a small scope/local tournament level? This is pretty much the fighting game with the third largest population out there but I really want to try to get into some of these chill local tournaments sponsored by national brands in the future, think something similar to a 7-11 Cup
will have to see based off stats, i dont think the game is dead and wont be popular anymore but gotta see the player dropoff after a bit more time and compare
Ngl, This patch just reflect Strive player mentality overall. Always there someone who push away old player. By the saying, you need to readjust the same character that you have been playing for previous installment. At this point. You need to think about their own word. This patch feel good way to reset because you still had the most cast around to set things up with system mechanics. If they pull out. It will work properly for the next installment. Game still incomplete for many reasons like infamous tower system, features like replay takeover, frame data still not introduced. You can still point out a lot of things. It should be there from the beginning like elo ranking system should be there with tower system (focus on newbie as well as content instead of ranking system). They shouldn't only focus on making it as a competitive scene instead focus on complete video game package. Acpr is still the best example because it works as a competitive game as well as a complete video game. Because it has a lot of content to get engage. People need to stop making excuses. I strongly blame Arc System marketing. Which heavily responsible lot of damage for franchise.
arc sys should've waited til 2023 for this game to release, it would've had probably DOUBLE the roster than strive had at launch. AT LAUNCH!. and would've played exactly like guilty gear xrd with enhanced and new mechanics, and burst as an EX mechanic too. strive is garbage and plays nothing like guilty gear, play rev 2.
@@smashbrosgoat No, it wouldn't have changed a thing, because Ishiwatari is not the series' director anymore. He still does compose the game's music and gives a helping hand in designing the characters and story elements, but his involvement stops here. He's not the one making decisions anymore
Idk if this bias or is really what the people think, but nerfing Jack-O's 2d felt like Testament 6p nerf, but less of a over all tool and more too towards case like the chip and pot, becuase now some bnbs whiff or you dont get anything, your pick ups are worst and the dash cancel is cool and all but losing the ability to do cool convertions is gone. Idk, but if it is a bias or other people feel the same
Sure hope they fix the game before the switch version releases. I was pretty optimistic till patch notes showed up. ... And I haven't even played the game yet.
Patches are always bad for fighting games, if fighting game players would stop demanding patches people could actually find solutions to problems for themselves.
I absolutely despise the ram rework and before s4 she was the the only character that i felt very comfortable with compared to the rest of the cast and character i put alot of time into but now she just not fun at all to play anymore at least for me and reason i am not going touch the game much after this or at all tbh
people complain about Kara canceling. but for me personally the thing that really hit me hard was the changes to 6k and garuda impact. fucking loved that simple pressure 50/50. now it feels lame and less rewarding. it also blows how that since they buffed hammer fall that it's not something you want to use more WHEN IT SUCKS TO USE
How do you make Potemkin easier to play by just removing the upper echelon of his potential.Potemkin will remain the same difficulty up until you need to do kara cancels, which i presume are optimal and may not be required by everyone to do ...
I think that if the 3 vs 3 mode were like (Marvel vs Capcom 3) it could be very interesting and attract a lot of audiences, there could be more combat routes due to the combinations, making the game more interesting using 3 characters instead of 1. But in the end we have a kind of league of legends with runes and equippable objects that to improve them you have to play that mode many times, I don't know but, since it's a bit sick to force you to play to level those objects, I come to fight not to play a moba.... But I guess it is "interesting" and "Original" but... I would have wanted a marvel vs capcom 3.....
im an entirely casual player. i couldnt give the slightest F about anything in guilty gear beyond a "oh thats cool" or an "oh thats stupid." and its pretty hard for me to look at the game and balance it myself, but i think they ruined ramlethal. People that liked her s3 version were basically completely ignored as with the buffs it unintentionally changed how she was played and how hard she was to play, and now players that like her current version are gonna be dissapointed when she gets nerfed back to the way she was, or atleast hopefully nerfed back. (beyond the new 236K/236H, whichevwr one sends the sword down, if it wasnt bugged it'd probably be something ramlethal just makes sense having)
W video I didn't feel the bad effects of this update since I'm an off meta faust player but your video made me realize how bad season 4 was for the game.
Thats craaaaazy no leo players yet online tourny still have 3 leo in top 8. Potemkin can't kara cancel but definitely better yet were complaining about a feature that took hours to master just to lose. Yeah ok.
Testament uses they/them pronouns btw! (The song uses he/she but its not confirmed that its even talking about them in specific, and the game and developers use exclusively they/them)
They are not they/then because they are nonbinary. He's literally they/them because he's a gear. Even in the arcade mode, they called testament them, or he and testament didn't care because they are still correct either way. I'm not sure why people are offended when testament themselves don't care and are fine with it. It's like being upset for a race when that said race isn't offended and tells you it's not a big deal
@@kuchikimakoto "Regarding Testament's gender, Arc System Works marketing rep Riku Ozawa has stated that Testament is specifically agender (無性, musei), neither male nor female, and that the character was instead previously portrayed as androgynous (両性, ryōsei), but that the team chose to change that in the new game. Ozawa also stated that in English, Testament would be referred to with they/them pronouns. Both musei and ryōsei are categories of X-gender, the Japanese equivalent of the word 'non-binary'. Katano's Developer's Backyard further confirms that after undergoing surgical modification and being turned into a Gear, Testament has lived without the concept of gender." This is information that is available on both Guilty Gear wikis, with citations if you really want further proof.

@@Raynfgc Thing is I watched a video from a creator name troxus who shows slayer is more than capable of having complex longer string combos similar to xrd but the damage and fact you need rc to do them doesn’t allow him to do so along with the fact that they would be considered unoptimal
had this game came out 2 years after 2021, this game would play NOTHING LIKE THIS i GUARANTEE YOU
It saids a lot when they still haven't fix the load times for opening the game. And The Lobbies are still shit. Then again Arc Games always have Terrible Lobbies.
I can understand awful balance as an error on the devs part, but how did they manage to create such an unplayable mess of bugs
Awful balance?
Error?
Arc-sys?!??!
Yeah sure
Yes, the most weird thing is to increase the health and buff damage at the same time. For what?
I think 30s per round is a bit too fast.
Also, I would like to say, why they add rank matchmaking into 3v3 but not single duel? Maybe they believe to refuse duel with some characters is a better option for balancing?
I only played granblue fantasy versus rising and street fighter. The battle pace for these two games are much slower.
GGS is my first GG series game. I do not know if all GG games are so fast.
yea the game is very fast, i'd like to see ranked in 1v1 as well but will have to see
Why increase damage when you want to increase the number of interactions on the matches, characters like sol slayer and pot cannot touch you once if you don’t want to lose 75% of your HP
If that’s the case, why haven’t people abandoned Street Fighter by now as that series is character rework, the series

4:57 im glad somebody addressed the severity of the chipp changes. Ive played him for a good minute now and you could imagine the shock I had when his main bread and butter combo was just flat out removed from the game. All to accommodate for his new tightrope move
It still works, you just need to slightly delay your K Alpha.
@ it’s not the same tho. If you do the delay kick into 2S, 2HS the second alpha blade will just straight up miss. You use to be able to just up and loop this but it fails after just one time

To add to the Testament case, Millia is also one of those characters that's been mid to low tier for a while, they give her some small buffs, slap her with a huge Capel nerf (which was very important to her) and making her the lowest hp character in the game on top of that (while giving Chipp a new move and a ton of buffs)
P.S. No, it's not a Konakon alt, I'm another one of 35 Millia mains in the world
If you think that Chipp receives a ton of buffs, you are very wrong, even in the video talks about the most important route eliminates for him.
It’s been so long since I’ve had any interaction with anything guilty gear related yet I thought of Konakon when reading this 😭
(I’m also one of the 35 millia mains.)
Not even mentioning that Chipp now has more consistent mix and damage than Millia now
Not to hate on Chipp, I love Chipp, but Millia is HURTING right now.
Maybe might be expecting influx from Lucy so making easier? Idk seems plausible
you have finally woken up man. realize that strive is nothing but a cheap downgrade of guilty gear, oversimplifying mechanics, shorter combos (should never belong in any 2d fighting games except either samsho or 3d fighters like tekken, vf, doa, etc) and that garbage wallbreak mechanic that is in strive that slows down, they ruined all of their characters, aba is slow, has barely any combos, slayer is...dear god what the hell did they do to slayer!?, and don't even get me started what they did to ramlethal and dizzy, they took away ram's combinations and dizzy, has barely any combos either. we need more people to realize that strive is nothing but a pale imitation that uses the name of the guilty gear franchise, strive is the "brawl" of guilty gear and always will be considered nothing more than a cheap ass cashgrab. stop playing strive and riot for a XRD 3.
The way balanced is so wierd. My character (bedman?) gets his guard crush loops removed for what? A slightly better recovering bed install while sol players almost get a whole rework and ky players get a rework to the shock state. The top tier characters didnt need it and only further divided the top tiers from the rest of the cast
Hey at least Bed head go brrr now.
Also, if they wanted to make pot combos easier, they also failed at that, since instant hfb isnt easy either
i dont like playing ram anymore, the ram changes dont feel fun anymore. the s3 style just felt like it fit my mindset perfectly. now... i just hate it
Honestly same. Even if Ram is better then season 3, she just isn't as fun to play as anymore.
Oh man what did they do to Ram?
From what I can remember their reasoning for increasing defense and the damage of some move is that they wanted there to be a move that if you get hit by it is like o shit and the rest to do less damage.
Obviously they did not achieve this. The patch was very good in concept but fails in execution in some areas.
I actually like this patch relearning sol is fun but not every one feels this way I just want his damage to be toned down it feels easier to get higher damage combos.
Gate Keeping exist for a reason.
*cough* *looks at the vast majority of the AAA game industry*
I don't think I'm alone when I say I am still excited to see where season 4 brings the game because after all, its about the journey, not the destination.
The only reason I made celestial for the first time last week was because all the good players stopped playing.
As a casual that just plays with friends, this patch doesn't really effect me that much. Like every character is missing moves from Xrd anyway so if my character is different after a patch it's fine.
no new player is wondering why they can't do potemkin kara cancels
Dawg, the potemkin kara cancel is like half of his identity (other half is deleting chipp, millia and baiken), unless you're like a day 1 player who just kinda stumbled upon the game because it was cheap or something you know what potemkin does.
@iv689 his identity is high damage grappler and you can't spell kara cancel with half of hdgiamlepr
i bought the game back in season two specifically because i saw a player doing karas with potemkin and thought it was the coolest thing ever. now $40 and 300 hours in they're removed from the game and i have to stop playing because there's nothing in the game for me anymore.
I swear it's not only you need to to do hammer fall break, the issue at least for me, it's that you need to stop hammer fall as soon as it comes out
Let me get this straight. Same people who are lamenting their "skill expression" of tight inputs done in single digit number of frames being gone are now complaining about doing tightly timed inputs?
Ah ha ha ha
Just be grateful that we don't have to do XRD 6k loops
The pot aptch fucking sucks because literally the only thing it did was lower the skill ceiling

Im so sad that they got rid of bridget’s rolling movement tech where you can jump cancel it. Now im just hitting an exponential growths

3. Damn if the people so upset with the changes are part of a thirsty femboy lusters, glad aint on that side.
wow it really got mixed reviews???? i understand that the patch was wild (i played sol) but changing their reviews was crazy
Trying to learn Millia this patch was a bad idea and a nightmare altogether
Ram never needed a rework. She needed more obviously clear choices for her opponent during her RPS. After playing her since season 1, absolutely nothing I know applies to this new Ram.
Yea ram didn't need anything
Exactly and what pisses me off the most is that people have not said jack shit about how awful reworked ramlethal is, tell arcsys to stop fixing what isn't broken.
@@smashbrosgoat if anyone needs something that's jack-o she's to vulnerable
@@MichaelWhitmire-l9f i know jack-o was trash in rev 2 but DAMN IT they did NOT HAVE TO RUIN EVERY FREAKING CHARACTER IN STRIVE.
@@smashbrosgoat rev2 jack-o is better than strive jack-o and we're getting new characters arc system works shouldn't make anymore changes.
Fighterz guys had to work on this one
As a baiken player, I think the game is fun since my character is bottom 2 anymore.

bruh Arcsys makes the most beautiful games in terms of art, but gameplay its always an issue in terms of balancing, Street Fighter 6 is waay more enjoyable than this. I have no idea what;s their plan with this game, no one asked for 3VS3 Mode, making skins makes more sense.
bars
JUST. PLAY. KOF. 15!
Ok the 3v3 mode is actually really cool tho...
If the 3 vs 3 mode were like Marvel vs Capcom, people would surely say: Ok, I didn't ask for this but I didn't know I needed it.
Not a moba.
I literally just started playing this game 4 days ago why are people hating on it so much and so fast 😭
1:16 "Ky's infinity Stun Edge"
Me: **Guilty Gear the Missing Link PTSD**
5:25 blazblue use to keep changing combo routes. I can't play the most recent version because I'm still outdated and haven't put the time back in yet
I saw the millia nerfs and a part of me died I don’t even main her anymore it just kinda hurts
I think kapel was pretty degen move but she gotta be compensated if it's nerfed
@ nah she got like hard nerfed I saw a video and she lost a lot of combo routes and mix
Ok rewatched said video ua-cam.com/video/P452OODVInU/v-deo.htmlsi=B1PQKXC60LbwF0KO
Holy fucking shit she’s basically unplayable 😭
I just cant cope with Johnny having the same HP as pre season 4 potemkin on a character who moves that fast.
Meanwhile, I’m playing casually saying.
- wow this girl fights with yo yos
- dude this girl fights with a spirit dog
- wow dang this guy fights with a coffin
I’m liking It .. and I’m just playing on arcade
Think my biggest issue is dizzy, i love the character and considered playing her seriously but compared to the other characters that play midscreen well, why would you ever since they can do it better, with more consistent and better rewards. This game makes me feel like a scrub always thinking that they only won cause of their character is not only more accessible but better as well and i hate feeling like that
she definitely feels like she is in a weird spot where she gets outzoned by zoners, and neutral skipped by everyone else however im not sure if she is 'bad' will have to see with more time but the frustration is there
dizzy right now is the only character not represented in the top 100 players, every other character is represented, she's just too new of a character -- so far she's considered low tier but with the way strive is low tiers can still have competitive success i just dont think enough time has passed
even with this gap in higher and lower tiers in the game its still surprisingly balanced compared to other fighting games like smash ultimate, it's a shame to see some of these changes and we can only hope that they fix bugs and maaaaaybe revert or tweak some existing changes?
yeah this balancing patch felt like it had the same balance team quality as league of legends. Bunch of stupid shit that don't make sense and feel like they were done by a kid that barely plays the game and wants only the characters they like on top.
Yeah there are 150 characters but due to bad balancing realistically only like 15 you can actually play anything else you are hindering yourself xD
P.S leffen says anything is broken so I wouldn’t use testimony from the guy who used HC bck when he could guard crush loop and no one cheered for him when he won a evo .

at like 5:05, chipp can do that route, it just requires a change in timing
Something I've experienced is that the newest DLC Character (Queen Dizzy) causes my game to lag whenever I fight as or against her it's pretty strange.
Also this balance patch is pretty wack.
Omg I've been experiencing the same issue. A shame too, because I really wanted to play her. But I guess I'll still have the older games where she vibes with me more.
might be a mod just double check if not thats odd
@@Raynfgc Nope I don't mod GGST because I always want to make sure it's as stable as possible.
Digital figure mode completely censor! I'm done with Guilty Gear Strive.
Never gonna feel bad for Leo players, the only issue that upset me is taking away Abas auto block.
I am anticensorship, no culture war just facts.
they made a bunch of easy characters good, then took away several character's ability to play at all
Like my biggest problem is Why did they change Potemkins Inputs?! Why change what wasn't broke?
To keep things fresh, the game has beem out for 4 years now, we have had our fun with those same inputs and combos now we can try new and different things with the characters.
@lampad4549
Yet Sol's Movelist has been mostly the same cept for HMC. Illogical Reasoning
Man I took a break like 4 months ago cuz of personal stuff and now that I am about to come back I get greeted by this lmao. I hope all of this gets sorted out soon.
Besides the bugs it sounds like you're complaining about fighting games that get patched
Womp womp
thank you mr. obvious
@@hijous yeah and I think that's stupid
Very often a solution to a character being degenerate like Potemkin, is to make a new one that's a softer take on the idea. ArcSyS instead decided they know what's fun better than mains.
Did the recent patch (yesterday, I think) that was supposed to fix this help at all?
I just got back into GGST, but damn, did I pick a horrible time to get back in.
It did fix some of the more gamebreaking bugs some left for later patch
Like im main anji and im fine with him this patch but why remove combos of Rin? It was a core move for anji’s routes
How bad would you say this is at a small scope/local tournament level? This is pretty much the fighting game with the third largest population out there but I really want to try to get into some of these chill local tournaments sponsored by national brands in the future, think something similar to a 7-11 Cup
will have to see based off stats, i dont think the game is dead and wont be popular anymore but gotta see the player dropoff after a bit more time and compare
now everyone else knows how I felt after the s3 may rework
Give me my Rainwater back Arcsys!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to comeback today and i just got terrorized by nago the same way i did a year ago when i left.
Her look was the other way for all the run, that's why, you could get a mod though.
@@ergastolo4281 no wonder
Sucks to be you, its unfortunate gamers are incapable of learning how to adapt.
people complain about Kara canceling. but for me personally the thing that really hit me hard was the changes to 6k and garuda impact. fucking loved that simple pressure 50/50. now it feels lame and less rewarding. it also blows how that since they buffed hammer fall that it's not something you want to use more WHEN IT SUCKS TO USE
How do you make Potemkin easier to play by just removing the upper echelon of his potential.Potemkin will remain the same difficulty up until you need to do kara cancels, which i presume are optimal and may not be required by everyone to do ...
ArcSys has a weird history of deciding to just shoot each game square on the foot after a game’s about to finish its life cycle.
Another way of saying it keeping the game fresh by giving the players th3 oppurtunity to learn new things that can be done with the character.
@ Cool, but they also completely broke the game in the process.
I wasn’t complaining…until….Until….UNTIL I GOT TO FLOOR 7-8 and decided for the hell of it to play open park. Why did I do this to myself 😢
Thats craaaaazy no leo players yet online tourny still have 3 leo in top 8. Potemkin can't kara cancel but definitely better yet were complaining about a feature that took hours to master just to lose. Yeah ok.
Testament uses they/them pronouns btw!
(The song uses he/she but its not confirmed that its even talking about them in specific, and the game and developers use exclusively they/them)
I lobr trstment💜🖤
They are not they/then because they are nonbinary. He's literally they/them because he's a gear. Even in the arcade mode, they called testament them, or he and testament didn't care because they are still correct either way. I'm not sure why people are offended when testament themselves don't care and are fine with it. It's like being upset for a race when that said race isn't offended and tells you it's not a big deal
Did they write that in Japanese? You know, the language the game is written in?
Nobody cares
Dare I say. Potemkin may actually be better. Something just feels more dangerous about him. Having Kara's back would just be the icing on the cake
Sol went from being one of the sauciest characters in the game to being one of the dryest yet getting buffed in the process. Smh.
Guilty Gear Strive situation just got worse
Potemkin was a high execution character and that was not what they wanted him to be. He was always an easy character in previous games.
Regarding the balance, I'm just annoyed they decided all the braindead characters should be S-tier
Reminder that xrd has rollback
I think we should all just settle down and play Xrd instead
I was thinking that when I saw Dizzy's gameplay from both games.
Now we can't look like we're mashing the shit out of our controllers. Rip Potemkin players.
Been playing Pot since day one and I have mixed feelings but favor reverting him back.
As someone who has been playing Ram since launch I'm glad she's finally at the power level that people acted like she was at while they constantly discredited me. That being said, holy fuck they need to fix her glitches and tune her down ASAP
Ahhaha she is finally actually broken
@Raynfgc not in the way I would have liked tho 🤣🤣🤣
