Excellent as always - Coral nailed this one and great chemistry with Matt. This format works so well and has so many viewers who appreciate the content!
Nice little surprise just popped up thanks very much Matt and Coral it's better then University lectures and you learn more as well in a short space of time 😅😅😅
Just finished watching this.such a fascinating insight and what a wonderful listen to the great coral can’t wait to see the next episode.take care coral.x
It was definitely interesting to hear the alternative ending of the siege. I totally agree with Coral to see the alternative ending. It would have been a nice twist to the show. Thanks for doing this, Matt and Coral. ❤❤❤❤
Enjoyed watching that, thank you. Gerda Nicholson was never ill, her tragic death was sudden and in her dressing room. Storylines that didn't work on Australian TV would have to include the return of Rowena Wallace to Sons & Daughters (as Pat's sister). By the time the scenes came to air, the decision had already been made to axe the show
What a treat....very interesting to hear about the alternative ending had Anne Phelan have stayed on ....Great episode.....Matt are we still going to get to hear from prisoner cast members still in addition to Soapbox which is fabulous.
I'd be interested to find out what future storylines/characters Coral had planned before her untimely exit. e.g. what she had in store for Rita's journey within the show :)
Thanks so much Matt and Coral for these fascinating videos. I have a question : I have never quite understood the disappearance of Australian drama as a mainstay of UK television. When I was growing up in the UK in the 80s and 90s, we imported lots of Australian shows: Prisoner; Neighbours; Home & Away; Sons & Daughters; Flying Doctors; A Country Practice. Kids TV also had series such as Round the Twist and Genie from Down Under. But after the millennium, Neighbours and H&A were moved to Channel 5. We rarely see Australian shows now and almost never on prime time on the main channels. A recent exception is the wonderful show The Newsreader, but I understand the BBC bought this in only to fill a gap in scheduling. Am I right that something changed in the 2000s? Did Australia stop producing? Did UK broadcasters stop buying? Did the tastes of UK audiences change? Did this change affect the TV industry in Australia? I'd be very interested to hear if you have a take on this.
From what I remember as a 15 year old in 1992. In the lead up to Todd Lander's death in "Neighbours" Channel 10 screened a TV ad showing a slow montage of Black and White portrait style photos of key cast members with a voiceover saying "One of these young lives is going to cut short......tragically". Then followed by audio of an Ambulance crew trying to resuscitate someone. So us the viewers did in fact know someone was going to die. The question was WHO?
@@zestmeditation There is an edit feature, so no need to make a new comment replying to yourself. Her name ought to be Carol. What the heck kind of name is "Coral". It's like "Coraline" when it ought to be "Caroline". Get it together people. -_-

1:14:40 i remember Prisoner being a 30min show for a short while and then went back to Tuedays and Thurdays 1 hour show but Thusday was often a double episode expecially in the later years.
Prisoner Royalty, Coral Drouyn AM surely! Though after Coral's comments about King Charles I think she might have a 30 year wait like her daughter! Thank you so much Matt and Coral. I'll need to drop you guys an email but I'd love to hear more about where Coral based herself and how on earth did she manage to not go the set more often to see her ideas come to life. Was Coral based at a Grundy office in the Melbourne CBD or did she ever use an office at Nunawading? I often wondered where the production staff were based at the Channel 10 building. Thank you Coral - Love you! Ps Is there a PO Box or email to contact Coral? Don't worry I'm no Baby Reindeer......❤
Myra's death was shocking to me, I didn't know Ann Phelan was going to leave the show. The episode end with her been shot, and I thought, no she will not be dead, she is the top dog! But in the next episode it was clear she is dead. I still can't get over it.
I've been rewatching Wentworth lately, and Kaz Proctor, on reflection, does seem quite inspired by Myra. And Ruth Ballinger seems a bit of an inspiration for (Wentworth) Marie Winter.
The original Myra ending could have still worked. If she's out of the prison then why not have her escape and leave her fate unknown? There was really no need to axe her life when you just killed Bea off just sixteen or so episodes before.
The van crash involved Bea and she got amnesia. Deniese Morgan wrote that script. All you do is copy storylines that other(and more talented writers than you) did previously.
Denise may have written the episode but the storyline would have come from elsewhere - Val claims the credit for that one. Hopefully you’ll pay attention to Coral’s specific comment directed at you during this Soapbox!!
I can listen to Coral for hours. I can't wait for the next episode. Thanks Coral and Matt.

Always a joy to listen to Coral's interview. Please pass on my condolences for her loss
Great episode. Always enjoy Coral's reminiscences.
Aw, love listening and watching Coral. She looks fabulous.

Thanks Samson. A university in the UK is actually using Corals interviews in some lectures.
Sorry to hear of your loss, Thank you for recording these videos, I look forward to seeing the next one

Yeah Alison Carr's long lost sister who came out of prison who looked like her exactly as she did before . Totally agree with you 💯

Thank you - Yes we are shooting some more interviews over the coming months and have some to upload.
"I love you Jude.." always gets me. Hazel deserved a much better life and ending but Belinda Davey man, played it so well

Love Coral. Would love to hear more about her memories of writing for Myra(annie) 😊

New episode! Boom 💥. Shame Carol isn't writing Home and Away now. I just can't get into it these days.
Coral sorry

What a ridiculous thing to say coral bea was always there for everyone not just herself

Maggie dies? I'm at season 4 currently thats a major spoiler lol
I have the whole series of Pacific Drive! The opening is pretty bad!
FIRST!
Very good but she does tend to ramble on
If Denise Morgan stayed on. Prisoner would have lasted through The 90’s. And we wouldn’t have gotten crap like The Barnhurst 5.
1:19:10 you also made a distasteful remark regarding Maxine Killingates(Bobbie Mitchell’s) death a year ago.
