I will have to try this......since I can't find Stag at a resonable price anywhere. Cheers

Stagg is good, but it’s not worth paying marked up prices for in my opinion. I would pay as much as I pay for Elijah Craig barrel proof, which is $75 in our area. I hope you enjoy the blends. I’ll have another Stagg replacement video coming out soon

Thanks for sharing! I enjoy these blends, especially with more widely distributed bottles. Have you ever tried oak spirals or chips to try to age a blend in a bottle? I’ve seen others do this and I’m skeptical. Cheers!

@rhayes458 I’m glad you’re enjoying them! I have not tried aging a blend yet, but I do have two bourbons that I put oak spirals into two weeks ago. I pulled a sample after one and two weeks. My next sample will be in two more weeks, then one month. After that I’m doing a video with the results to see if it’s worth it.
I have another experiment going with mimicking aging bourbon in a 53 gallon barrel. That video will be out Wednesday. Thanks for the question!

@@TheDramDiaries thanks! Looking forward to it. Also...ever try blending Eagle Rare with the Benchmark FP? I know that Eagle Rare is tough to come by, but I saw someone blend those two and thought it may be interesting. Definitely lower proof, but I would assume the Eagle Rare age would help.

@rhayes458 I have blended the two together and it is pretty good. One of these days I’ll start recording some blends like that. I have quite a list now that I want to record.

For you who may have been drinking whiskey alot longer than myself, how available were today's allocated bottles like Stagg 6 to 10 years ago?

@symple_man79. I’m in Oregon and I started drinking bourbon in 2018 and up until the end of 2019 I was able to find Stagg Jr, E.H. Taylor barrrel proof, single barrel, and small batch on the shelf without too much trouble, as well as Weller 107. Also, during those years at a store in Northern California I would see GTS, William Larue Weller and pappy 12 for around $400 a bottle. Once Covid hit, i stopped seeing any of the above bottles.
I can usually find Eagle rare and Blantons without too much trouble still.
At least in our area of Oregon, all the restaurants with bars get first pick at allocated bourbons. I recently saw at one restaurant in their allocated cabinet, three bottles deep of unopened Russel’s 13yr as well as many Buffalo Trace products. Oh well…
