I TOOK THE BUDGET TENT INTO THE CHEVIOTS EXPECTING A BIT OF CALM BEFORE THE STORM, WHICH ARRIVED THROUGH THE NIGHT, AFTER A NICE WALK UP TO MY SPOT, A NICE SUNSET AND A CHILLED OUT EVENING I SETTLED IN, THE WIND CAME ABOUT 12:30 AM I CHECKED THE GUYLINES AND THE TENT WAS FINE. READY TO TAKE IT ON, IT CHANGED DIRECTION AND CAME FROM THE SIDE, IT STILL STOOD FIRM. I DONT HAVE TO PROMOTE THIS TENT NOW, BUT I WILL SAY I WAS SURPRISED HOW WELL IT TOOK THE WIND, IT HIT 32MPH AT TIMES, WHICH ISNT BIBLICAL BUT WINDY ENOUGH TO TEST IT. THERE WAS ALSO ZERO CONDENSATION.. VERY IMPRESSED.. HOPEFULLY BACK OUT NEXT WEEKEND AGAIN.
Great camp. We like the Ridge monkeys. We have the compact, the larger one, and recently we've bought the deep po, and i made a stew for two nicely in it, as a trial at home.

I’ve been having breaded chicken burgers in my RidgeMonkey 👌. Looked pretty peaceful up there and dry! This weeks weather sucks but it might keep down the midges😉
I need to up my monkey game 😂 was a great spot. Be good in non midge conditions I reckon. One to go back to for sure. 👍

Good watch. I used to watch you a few years ago but somehow I lost the channel. Great looking tent - is it the 3F UL version of the Cloud Up... loved the khaki colour, as you say it blended in well with the landscape - have to say the Cheviots look well impressive. Have to say I don't know what you record your sound on but well impressed how clear you come acoss in windy condutions. atb Al
Ahh cheers for finding me again. Nowts changed 😂😂 yeah it’s very similar to the cloud up. I think it’s a bit lighter. I’m liking the colour too. Not usually a fan but it’s nice. I use a GoPro 10 to film. In my next video I show how I stop the wind noise. (Coincidentally). Cheers for coming along Atb 👍
Great spot for a camp, it’s great when we explore new parts of our Cheviots, that’s a remote part as it’s normally the shooters that head out that way, enjoyed this one.

I was up on Wester Tor on Friday night in my Lanshan 2 - tent survived the wind but I didn't get much sleep and headed back to my car after watching the Sunrise (Took the direct route back to Hethpool - which was an experience).
Yeah noisy nights. I always take earplugs. Slept sound. That route from wester is like torture 😂 hope you have recovered. Atb 👍

Nice. Was surprised how well that looked in the wind 30mph zone is where most cheap tents have already failed a potential for at least 3 season. Nice up there can’t beat an isolated Cheviots camp.
Yeah I was pleased it didn’t really move so no stress on the poles. I reckon 40 might be a different story. It keeps the rain out too. All in all a good tent like. I’m keeping it 😂😂 👍
You can easily make a budget tent seem like a Hilleberg by just spraying the insides with water, then dip the end of your sleeping bag in a river.
Lool, you forgot to say give your credit card to a stranger to empty your bank account! 😂 Jokes aside the hilles are made well and would take a beating time after time. Not sure on the budget tents. Mind you I have a Naturehike vik 1 that’s been is some rough weather wind wise and it performed great. Was rock solid. Sure the stitching and fabric wouldn’t endure it time after time like a Hilleberg mind. Unless you’re out on the hills weekly there’s no point dropping nearly a grand on a posh tent though imo. These cheap Chinese offerings are really good value now. Just questionable ethics possibly 🤔

That tent shape, from the back reminds me of grizzly gazz's dog " the slug" when she rubs her f**ny down the grassy hills.
Great stuff as always Andy, and packed with lols 🤣. As a mild hill bagging enthusiast, I've found the heat maps in Strava can be useful for finding the lesser-documented trods and throughfares on quiet hills....

I got my lanshan today and I was gonna go out and seam seal it, just the sides as its mostly done from new (unlike the pro version, odd tbh), predictably its raining, so I'll do it soon.
Sacrilege not having onions on your burger, leave out the lettuce, tomatoes and even the cheese, onions is a must, im glad it wasn't a hotdog without onions, thats the death penalty lol 😅.
32 mph through the night, the wind sounded stronger than that when it was shown at 26.6 when you vlogged it on here, the tent held up well though.

Van was night 2. The wind was about 35 tops. But impressed with the tent.

Nice one Andy, those Kestrel Anemometer's are most excellent and accurate. I have the 3500 Impeller, and can't fault it. Great videographer. That tent did well.

It was nice and remote. I think I only saw 1 person. It’s in the description. Zhengtu 2. 3ful gear. They make some great budget stuff. I’m still using it. 👍

Thats the tent I would own because I like budget options. I can afford a Hilleberg but think they are over priced and overkill for my wild camping purposes so wont buy one. A matter of princible with regards to price as well, Hilleberg, if you are listening, I wont accept one, even if you offer to send me one. I will direct you to Andy Wardle who is a more extreme high altitude wild camper than me

Most tents will handle 30 mph wind. But they can flap or move about. Therefore stressing the poles and fabric. This thing never budged. Yeah I’m liking it. 👍

Plenty comfortable and lots of space. I’m loving the tent. There was lots of flies going up but the wind at the top kept the midges/mosquitoes away. Thanks for watching. Atb 👍 ⛺️
