I'm not sure it was a mistake. I've seen them a few times and twice their shows were riddled with series of equipment malfunctions and people falling out from the rafters on ropes, dangling only inches from the stage floor. I knew right away it was a set up, but it was hilarious to hear how upset many people were, thinking it was for real. That was back in the 80's before the Internet, but I found out about it via newspaper articles.
James sounds amazing, even with the addiction he is battling, James I hope you get better man, seek help, your life is precious and nothing else matters.

I hope you all know that it's all part of his performance. He messes up on purpose. He did the same thing in New Jersey Metlife Stadium on the same song when I saw them them on August 4 and 6. The song has a really easy intro so he jokingly "screws it up".

Live it's always going to sound bare bones. As it should.

@@blppt Totally true. And besides not having the chops and skills to improvise in a safe manner, the worst part for me is the lack of dynamics. He is playing the softer parts, the verses,... hitting everything as loud as in the choruses or the distortion parts. No ride cymbal, just the china to smash it all the time. Plus the total lack of sense of tempo and time, which by the way has poisoned all the other band members that are now used to follow his usual speed ups and slow downs. A total mess.

In the songs you can hear that Kirk is not in good shape, everyone has the right to have a bad day, the musicians are already their age and not all concerts will be as perfect as they were years ago.

Can't believe they've been playing it for nearly 30 years,both guitars are out of tune, if you're gonna play that riff you best make sure you have your low E in tune as a bare minimum 🤭 What makes it worse is that he's playing Greeny FFS, he doesn't deserve to own that Icon of rock history if he can't master his own track after this long, TBH he's never been worthy of owning it in my eyes, Gary Moore is probably turning in his grave right about now🥺
That's right every clean part sounds bad in Kirk's hands. They have strings as lowered as possible to be able to play the distorted parts easier. But that sucks for clean parts because you can hear strings getting muffled by touching on the frets.

They are damn near senior citizens (Metallica gets played on the classic rock station now) Almost every other associated act is either dead or disbanded. I think they deserve a little leeway...I've seen them live 5 times starting in 1991 and each time they completely tore down the house, everyone's face was melted off! These guys are living legends, but they make mistakes like the rest of us...
