I feel like the lexan body would be okay if it wasn’t priced like the hardbody trucks, as well as I just wonder why they did the lexan body because in my wyes RC4WD has always been the super scale type brand and this seems to get away from that a little, but I do love the truck and the body, I just find it strange

They made the bottom of the body thin so it would be easier to make it full of rust holes just like the real ones. Also when detailing that interior make sure to make some big cracks in the dash since it's a 1970-80s Toyota. What would be awesome would be an FJ 60 body!
I quite like it, pitty it's lexan but it will help performance overall being lighter up top, see how much it is when it hits the UK, rc4wd seem to almost double in price when it reaches us over here.
I can completely see why people are complaining about it being lexan, but I've seen Lexan drift car bodies that make even some of the nicest hardbodies look mediocre. This body may not be to that quality with the large moldlines but it's certainly better than having no FJ55 at all isn't it? Some nice aftermarket details, good paint work, some more interior work and perhaps some extra stiffening will make it perfectly serviceable. Plus this kit already comes with one of RC4WD's best looking wheel and tire combos!
(I know the MFab FJ55 one exists, but that is almost literally a coachbuilt body.)
I feel like this one was an after thought and putting in the extra effort would have yielded a better product.
@@scalebuildersguild I'd imagine with the...lukewarm reception of the TF3 the budget for this thing was...imperfect...Buuut I do like it. Certainly on my radar as far as kits to grab, I love the LWB platform and this thing is only 20 usd more than the bodyless kit. I'd pay 20$ just to not have another set of stamped wagon wheels and mud thrashers. But as it goes, it's another option that exists. Plus, it at least doesn't have body posts.
Yeah I’m not sure what the boys at rc4wd were thinking in this. Along with the tf3. Still love my tf2s tho !
Caveat:I have never owned a TF2 It probably will, but not this one. I’m glad to see a licensed Toyota body. Too bad it’s Lexan.
They done the Ford f150 hard body. With full interior and functional 4door and opening tailgate. I think it also had remote locking diffs.
That wasn't from RC4WD, they just sold it.
I had a 1972 fj 55 .the grill was white and the paint was brown and that weird peanut butter color.

I just started this hobby about 3 or 4 months ago and since I've been here I wouldn't show much attention to rc4wd rigs. Imo only thing that appeals to me is the leaf springs. Tf3 looked to be crap and this is way off imo

Agreed. What were they thinking with the TF3 and the 1/24 scale TF2?
@@mattymoe2239 both failures . Engine in tf3 is too large ,axles should of been redesigned to fit wider rails, etc. I’m still hoping they change directions. If vanquish or axial start making hard bodies they will be out of the picture . Their mtr tire, & tf2 body is only thing worth buying lol.

Lexan maybe but excellent detail, light and builds into a great replica! Admittedly, they could have put more thought into the box art. And hey, you can always paint the outside. I think RC4WD should be applauded for thinking outside the box and staying with Toyota Can you imagine how much this body would cost in plastic (!) and how much it would weigh!

RC4WD is good at one thing. They didn’t do that with this kit.

I'm guessing that body was designed by someone from the former Soviet Union. Lands solidly on my top ten ugliest truck (or whatever) in history. My disdain for RC4WD just keeps growing. Not even worthy to occupy space in my trash bin.
