George is in my opinion, probably the most wholesome of all Disney characters to date. His life is so whimsical to a point that it's honestly cute. Like, this is supposed to be the badass and potentially feared jungle man, and he's honestly just a sweetheart, especially given how he handles most animal situations. Not to say he's never picked a fight, but it's a rarity. Even the crocodile tooth he wears has such a wholesome story. The fact that George didn't even fight the croc but pulled it out as a favor cus the croc had a toothache is so damn adorable. It's such a huge part of his character, that it's even in his title, "Defender of the innocent, protector of the weak, and ALL-AROUND GOOD GUY, George of the Jungle." And this movie made it a point to prove how much of an all-around good guy he was.
"When they beheld the mighty Ape Mountain, the reacted with awe."
"Awwww"
“I said AWE. A. W. E.”

"That's better."
This film definitely deserves better. I loved it when I was a child, it was hilarious.
It needs to be released on Blu Ray. There are deleted scenes that have never been released. Only a few people have released the deleted scenes. The only other evidence of these deleted scenes are according to some of the script's pages and pictures of the deleted scenes. I would really like to see these deleted scenes on the bonus features. Or even a director's cut. For example, there was a scene where Ursula is sinking in quicksand and George saves her. Brendan and Leslie talked about that scene while being interviewed on the talk show "Busy Tonight". There's even a deleted scene where George cracks a coconut open for gorillas to stop fighting over it that way they can share. That scene was actually when Ape was supposed to say "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the king of the jungle".
George of the jungle theme song was hilarious I did not laugh it as a kid as much appreciate it as a adult more because I have a better since of humor as a adult
Keith Scott is so underrated. He was great as the narrator.
Not to mention he's also from my country Australia and not only that he was personally mentored by Bill Scott who was one of the creators of the original George of the Jungle cartoon
@@williampulfer-melville8536
Cool!
He sounds just like the original cartoon show's narrator. He was the best casted for this movie for bringing back these characters for the big screen.
@@ryanstauffer119
Like I said, Keith Scott’s amazing.
@@williampulfer-melville8536 and he’s also animation historian, wrote a book about the history of voice acting and he also mentions the guy who is he’s mimicking in his film Paul frees
I love it when how he grabs the Donut from his big toe at 3:06
It's probably one the best live action movies based on a cartoon. Also, the direct to video sequel was basically what the first movie would've been if it hadn't had effort. It was beyond horrible with the majority of cast not returning, the budget obviously being cheaper and the humor not as witty as the first movie
I grew up watching the 2007 reboot of George Of The Jungle and didn’t know it was a reboot until years later
I don't remember watching the sequel, but I do remember *one* joke from it that gets a chuckle out of me, regarding George's casting: "studio too cheap to pay Brendan Fraser".
10:52 Little fun fact is that the film's narrator is actually a Australian voice actor Keith Scott Who is actually well known for his work in various children's animated shows in australia as well as his various voice impersonations of iconic characters
From what I can heard, this is one of the more decent cartoon adaptions. Although, considering the competition, it’s not much to say.
There are a changes from the original cartoon show this movie makes. But it's still a good adaptation. If you wanna hear the changes the movie makes from the cartoon series, I'd be happy to reply back with details.
This was a total walk down memory lane! I remember watching this every time I visited my Aunt and Uncle's place as a kid.
I think this movie is childishly hilarious, just like the first live action-version of Scooby Doo. I don't care what people say, both these movies are a lot of fun!
I'm glad someone else agrees this movie is underrated. This was one of my favorite movies to watch everyday growing up.
I love this Movie Growing Up and even if it's Underrated it's ahead of its Time and has Aged Perfectly and Better.
Thanks for reviewing this, it bought back so many childhood memories for me
My wife and I watched it recently, and in a way, I think it's a better watch now than it was in 1997. It is silly and a bit juvenile, but considering its source, the way the movie self-awaringly leans into it makes it work. Plus knowing what we now know about Brendan Fraser makes his performance more endearing
Whenever my family watches anything starring Brendan Fraser, my dad immediately calls him George of the jungle.
A very, very fun movie and an underrated gem!
This Film is My Childhood💚. Used to play the VHS a lot when I was a kid💚.
Can you speak on George of the Jungle 2 the sequel?
Please review the sequeal!
I miss Brendan Fraser in movies, I hope he gets more movies soon.
Furry Vengeance destroyed his career.
Have you watched Doom Patrol
this movie is based on a jay Ward cartoon
This movie, really nails, Jay Ward style of humor
Watch out for that algorithm tree?
Please talk about The Jungle Book (1994) movie
I just watched this movie today with my vcr and my TV, and I think the movie is funny. My Dad brought me to see this movie in the theater when I was a little boy. At the end of the movie, they even have Lion King reference where George is at Pride Rock holding his son in the air. 😆
I may be wrong but I believe the main antagonist of the film Lyle was supposed to be based on Dr Chicago from the original cartoon and Max and Thor the 2 poachers Lyle hires are supposed to be based on Tiger and Weevil from the original cartoon
then why didn’t they use them instead?
@@sollunadonis1995 no idea
@@williampulfer-melville8536 also I find it funny that his name Dr Chicago because Chicago is a city 😄
Tiger and Weevil definitely should have appeared. But I don’t know how Dr. Chicago would have worked for the story. Especially the District Commissioner from the original show.
@@ryanstauffer119 true that would have been weird if they tried to incorporate him
You have to do the second one
Probably not too many schools have TV stands anymore
they've got projectors instead
@@rovhalt6650 they were getting projectors around when I was in 4th grade.
We need more bigots and racists getting hilarious comeuppance.
Never seems to be enough of that.
2:26 did this shot scare anyone as kids?
awesome movie
Ursula dies because her ship stab her
George of the jungle is not a Tarzan spoof it was 1960s cartoon
Wait Independence Day is next? I Don’t remember that film having puppets.
Iv only seen a little bit of this movie I kinda thought it was a fever dream a bit😅 I'll have to rewatch this when I can iv only seen clips😓..but I did watch the animated show growing up some..it was odd to say the least.😅😅but I kinda remember liking the girls designs tho in show I thought they look pretty.☺️🌺🌸Also ngl the couple clips you show made me laugh a bit.😂
The sequel wasn’t so bad either. It’s not better then this one, but it was enjoyable as a followup. I definitely enjoyed this movie more then I expected upon watch.
James bond
Tarzan copy
I love it when a movie just decides to go off the rails and have fun, this is a great example along with Sonic The Hedgehog 2. Also, I am very excited to see where puppet effects were used in Independence Day. I always get excited when you talk about movies on this series that people don’t automatically think about when they think about puppets.
Ursula is played by Leslie Mann the only actress that wasn't in any franchise since Disney needed someone for love interest.
Dose this sound like the plot of Disney’s 1999 Tarzan?
George of the Jungle is a parody of Tarzan though.
Wow. You really like Brendan Fraser, right?
What’s very fitting at this is a Disney movie and Keith Scott is impersonating, legendary Disney voice actor Paul frees as the narrator which seems very fitting
