Fun fact: During the production of Coraline they showed it to one of the producers children to make sure it would appeal to kids. Apparently the kid was terrified and scarred for life but told them it wasnt scary because they didnt want to sound like a wuss.
No, it was the book and it was the authors child who read the book. She also didn't lie because she did not want to sound like a wuss, she wanted to see what would happen next, if she said she was scared she wouldn't be alowed to read it, and also the book would not come out therefore no movie.
@@badcreator7023 yes
I don't think so
@@badcreator7023 that’s not what nostalgia critic says
@@badcreator7023thats the same version I heard
The shear amount of time, skill, and talent that went into this movie is unbelievable
erm acshually nigga its sheer
yeah and DerekFDB making this vid
there was 60,000 faces made for corallines animation
so yeah it took a lot (not trying to sound rude like that)
I can't remember what show your from
Coraline legitimately gave me a phobia of small square doors when I watched it when I was like 8 and it lasted for years. One of the first things I noticed when I moved into the place I live in right now is that it has a door just like the one coraline crawled into.
When I was 9 or 8, I got nightmares of this movie, AND I DIDN'T EVEN WATCH IT 😭⁉️
You probably did a cartoonishly large gulp when you saw it
So true
Oop-
Same
Fun fact: I don't think that the book is that much scarier, but there isn't a Wybie kid there, there is nowhere to run, she gets trapped the first night, there's no rats that are disguised as beautiful mice, instead there is rats that hurt you if you don't enter the weird door. I know its hard to believe, but the movie is made a lot more kid friendly than the book.
Book name.
@@Vincent_Shakespeare. just google coraline book, the book itself is called coraline, but if you just google that u wont find the book but the movie instead.
@@Vincent_Shakespeare.Same as the movie just "Coraline"
What?. 😑🤐🙄😑.
Actually the book is scarier and more graphic actually
Now that I think of it, her visiting and living near Detroit before moving explains her bad choices including befriending why did the condom have to break Wybie when he was being creepy ngl, straight up bullying why weren’t you aborted Wybie, and missing a lot of red flags. Also at 11:33 she didn’t leave yet because she didn’t want to leave the cat behind
I thought you just really hated this kid, but then I remembered Coraline herself was dogging him the same way after barely getting acquainted with him
Ok
Huh
Why didn't dad pull out Wybie isn't that bad.
@@L2-L2then it’s too kind and not funny enough
I remember listening to the audiobook of Coraline to see how much the movie changed and ever since then I wondered how and why anyone would ever let Neil GAYman write books for children. They straight up have blood and gore in the book. Ain’t no sand in them rats it’s blood. The stuff in the book made SSTTITD and goosebumps look weak as a kid
You misspelled Neil Gaiman
And the book was never marketed for kids but the movie was
@@coolDude-sx6we r/woosh
@@coolDude-sx6we But it was? He had his daughter to see if it was to scary for her to market it to kids. She lied and said she was not scared, so it was marketed to kids.
@@coolDude-sx6weyou must be fun at parties
@coolDude-sx6we just please look up the word joke in the dictionary
i love all of the references to the house on the other side being the stomach of an actual monster.
another kids movie that apparently traumatised kids was called 9. Just the number 9, and it was AMAZING. i vaguely remember watching it when i was reeeeeeally little, and i loved it. My sister said she was terrified though
The monsters were the worst and I watching that while playing too
Well I guess me and your sister can relate because I’m still trying to get over my fear of the movie and the thing is that I watched the movie completely fine before and now I suddenly feel scared of it and I don’t know why.
I mean to be fair that movie is PG-13. I've never seen it, but it looks pretty creepy.
The grandma is the ultimate villian. The reason she rented to Carolines familt was because the Belldem feeds on children Wyborn's age so she intentionally let coraline live thier to protect Wyborn

best Halloween ever.
Bro facts
Facts
For me, the only scary part is when she escapes and Other Mother is screaming "don't leave me", mainly because I know what it feels like to be chased like that. Other than that, it's just a whimsical little film. A bit dark, but whimsical.
I would always watch this movie with my cousins yearly as a tradition. My older cousins were so scared of it when it first came out that they actually pissed themselves at 10 and 12 years old haha. Great movie y’all go watch it trust Derek fr
I heard from a friend that they were making a live-action remake of this movie, and i hope to GOD they don't. Great vid
This technically is the live action of you think about it
Bro I used to be terrified of this movie , now I’m 18 and watched the movie it’s a masterpiece I respect it . This video is a W for a great movie appreciate you making a summary for this movie
Too bad you didn't review the "DON'T LEAVE ME" scene. This one is definititely the most messed up
The other mother saying "Ill die without you" was the creepiest part of that scene.
This is the type of movie too complicated for children but for teens and adults it has a good morale of the story
Teens are children
Coraline is a terrifying kids movie but you know one thats just disturbing for adults... 9 when I was 6 me and my parents watched 9 and my little brain couldn't comprehend how terribile it was but now as a 20 year old my parents said that at the time that movie was the most disturbing movie they ever saw
Ngl when I first watched the movie 9 on Netflix nothing creeped me out it about it,heck it didn’t even scare me but all of sudden the more I kept looking and looking at the title I start getting a chill down my spine or chest and I think I’m now disturbed of the film even though I’ve never felt that way the first time watching, and every time I see a glimpse of the characters or the movie I feel like I’m having a panic attack is there anyway to get over that?
@@DatDrawingKid011 Watching the characters get the life sucked out of them as a child and now as a 20 year old is kind of disturbing and I don’t feel like having a panic attack but I recommend reminding yourself it’s just a movie but at the beginning when 9 is exploring the terrain when he couldn’t talk and seeing the mother and child dead in the car didn’t affect me as a child but now I think it’s super sad considering that’s what it was like during WW1 and WW2
I watched it when it first came out. I was probably 4-5 or so. Didn’t scare me at all, for some reason.
Hilarious commentary, great movie, THIS IS AMAZING
I remember being extremely small loving this movie and never understanding why the other kids were terrified of it.
same here

I was scared but now I am obsessed. Not because of the other mother, but because of the psychological impacts on Coraline.
Your weird

To this day, I remember when my class had a school trip to watch this movie, but of all the other 365 days, I just had to have an explosive diarrhea on that specific date, so I stayed at home. But I eventually watched it on DVD.
I would have been so mad for atleast the next week
Not only is this movie good, you gotta check out some of the other movies these mf's made, they're still funny but go absolutely wild like bro how are these even kids movies sometimes 💀
Can you mention one of them please?
I’d like to see it.
@Noora-nb1mw I think he's talking abt corpse bride, and nightmare before Christmas
@@vayax6701 thank you! I’ll watch them if I can.
@@Noora-nb1mw you're welcomeee
Your channel has become an addiction for me keep up the great work bro ❤
Whoah this upload made my day instantly 10x better!
Coincidentally I am in the middle of re-reading Coraline, so I just read another chapter last night 😆
This was a good video! And I laughed so hard at various bits 🤣
I used to be terrified EASILY with small things when I was little, like I couldn’t even watch Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean because of the blood. But weirdly, I wasn’t scared of Coraline but fascinated by the world and I would watch it over and over after watching it at the theaters. That’s when I started to realize what type of horror I enjoyed! It’s a masterpiece ✨
this movie STILL makes me have a small panic attack when i watch it!
U my fav UA-camr keep uploading u make my day everyday
This is the best summary of thus movie I've seen so far, good job homie!! Love ya!
Fire video as always man. I ain't gonna lie tho seeing a person with buttons for eye in irl is now a new fear of mine, thanks for that .😂

that hand from the start is the Prototype
yo ur vids always have me dyyyyiinnggg bro keep up the good work
Not gonna lie I haven’t found a great UA-camr like you in a long time so thanks man :)
thank you, I've always found this movie traumatizing when I saw it as an 11 year old, it bothered me allot during the night and it would take weeks for me to forget, that is until i happen to see a glimpse of it again when my younger sibling watched it.
U should do “Thrillers I CAN survive” or “action movies I can survive” just some suggestion ik it’s bad
Amazing Ideas
@@DerekFDBthank you bro,I’m a big fan of how you edit your vids, Goodluck with your channel dude
this movies theories go so deep and crazzy, def worth checking out like the theory Caroline never truly escaped
That mermaid scene ruined my childhood 💀💀💀💀

Love how he calls wybie “whywereyouborn” without explaining that his name is wyborn
The foxy jumscare scared the shit out of me
This was the first ever claymation movie I saw and it made me fall in love with the genre. Easily one of my favorite movies ever
LOVE THE VIDEOS KEEPTHE GOOD WORK UP BROOOOOOOO
I watched this when I was nine. I honestly think the sisters form Kubo: The Two Strings scared me more than Coraline did.
RIGHT-
IDK how many times ive watched Coraline. I like best the part where the "Other Mother" says, "Well, of course u do, everybody has an 'Other Mother'".
What makes that sorta creepy is that would mean there’s more than one “other mother”
This is my favorite movie ever. I would rewatch it as a kid and then my aunt blocked it. I watch it at least twice a year now(I'm 20). It's tied for favorite movie with fnaf now though
Man you hella underrated you need more credit
yo this vid was lit 🔥funny asf commentary but still explained the movie well. 10/10
Subscribed. Your vids are hilarious
My boi is getting better 🙌
I watched this movie three times IN A ROW. IN A ROW. I watched it once, when it was finished i watched it again, then when that was finished I WATCHED IT AGAIN. I still make jokes when im in some grey places and say “Damn I didn’t know that the Coraline world exists.” I love Coraline so much.
Honestly though, coralline is still such a goated movie, even now I still love this movie and watch it every October.
Fun fact: Coraline's dad is named Anton Ego
Uploaded same time as Degenoricity last video, coincidence? 🤔 anyway love your stuff!
Dude this movie is the most underrated movie ever i don't even think its scary it just brings back amazing memories
The detail in this movie is crazy like for example the double loop in home O on the cake means she and not in welcome is because a double loop means a lie or smthn like that so she is welcome but not home
As a Michigander I have respect for the wheel and Detroit joke. Legendary. Lol
5:07 on the bright side her rash is gone! On the bad side; Her. Rash. Is. Gone.
You really got me with that foxy jumpscare 💀
When I was 11, I don’t think I was venturing into parallel dimensions, Coraline different fr😭🙏🏾
I appreciate the use of the Coraline video game music in the video
I remember Coraline the most scariest movie I ever watch at a young age. I watch when I was either 4 or 5-years-old. As kid I was afraid of everything especially dolls. When I first watch Coraline I really love the stop motion it really remind me of nightmare before Christmas. But like I said I had a fear of dolls as a kid when I saw the look a like the other mother created, I always felt that the doll was alive like Chucky in one of the scenes. The most fear I had with the film was the other mother because having buttons for eye is creepy enough but in the “1, 2, 3” scene that gave me nightmares as a child. After seeing that seen I’ve been afraid of my own mother and whatever she gets angry it scares me because it reminds me of that scene. Don’t worry I rewatch the film I still love to this day but I’m still afraid of the “1, 2, 3” scene. Coraline will always have a place within my heart of childhood and I’m glad I watch this film it was amazing and scary at the same time. ❤🎬🎞❤️❤️
“Why did your parents have to meet Wybie” That had me rolling-
I feel like this film and Monster House are pretty good introductions to the Horror genre for kids, at least it was for me
Kid me would have a 50/50 split on if The Other Mother’s Trick would work on me, because I have a good life, and seeing my mom with button eyes along with her saying that she’s not even my mother would instantly make me turn around…but that food looks soooo good. I wouldn’t accept the button eyes regardless when offered, but my ass wouldn’t survive trying to make it out anyways.
But you won't get food or anything for that matter you are dead and will basically be sharing a bed with the ghost children inside of that mirror, regretting that descion for that rest of your life, for who knows how long.
@@shaziyataranum710 Yeah, it’s best if kid me just walked away anyways because I swear even he would know something is wrong. Only problem is that rven if food wouldn’t work on kid me, The Other Mother can be pretty manipulative with kids, and I doubt I’d be quite perceptive as Coraline was in her attempts to escape or not be fooled by her. I just know that kid me wouldn’t try to stick around for long, at least certainly not at first.
Well I LOVE Coraline!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
“I don’t know if Coraline is that dark my boy” 6:36
“must be the giraffe” 6:17
“What happened to the other father!?” 10:24

Yeah this movie and monster house were great. I was already watching Saw and Final Destination at like 8 though so I was never really creeped out.

Cool vid bro.😺
When I watched it I was like 3 and I still love it ❤❤❤
This movie brings back memories of nightmares for a year
"Very suspicious indeed...must be the giraffe" I lost it
Hi there I love your videos
I watched this today, and watch it like 15 times a year because I love it, and never found it scary
“Why were you conceived Wybie”💀💀💀💀💀💀 AMAZING video btw
Coraline was one of my favorite movies as a kid despite scaring me so much and giving me a permanent phobia of tiny doors. By the time I was 10, my family moved into a new house and my room actually had a small door on the inside of my closet. Ofc by then I knew Coraline wasn’t real but I still never opened it at night
this is great its the whole movie and his reaction to it and its kid frendly great job
yooo derek uploaded
When I first watched Coraline in 2nd grade, I cried after the opening and cried even harder when I saw the other mothers true form. It made me traumatized
Bro my aister loved this movie so much she even got a action figure of her 💀
Derek my brother in spirit, watch Monster House. IN the words of a wise man, that move truly shows you dont need blood and gore to make a scary movie, because that thing is terrifying.
We see her get scared by a cat 😂 like so relatable 1:59 10:06
The sadness in DerekFDB’s voice when he picked up the Coraline doll: *”I don’t even look like this…”* 😔
8:02 fun easter egg, the three portraits in the background that show the side silouette are actually the three kids that got trapped in the other world by the other mother
The generosity is that you
One of my fav movies to this day
The other mothers GYATT THOUGH
The amount of times I’ve watched this movie is uncountable
