I think it's difficult to say he always loved her. Arnold was a nice kid who was generally kind hearted with everyone. I think it's more likely that he never hated her and always wanted to believe that deep down she was kinder than the way she acted. There are certain moments through out the series where you see Arnold and Helga bond and actually get along that were some of the best moments of the show. I don't think there's ever really a "when" you fall for someone. Sometimes it can just hit you without you even noticing it. Ugh, how I miss this show :(
Its a shame we'll never get a spin-off of this show. The Patakis. The idea of a teenage rebellious Helga dating Arnold and living with his family after running away from home would have been pretty cool.
He's always liked her and it's cute! Also the creator said in an interview that they were meant for each other, dated, got married and have children. It's just so cool the way they put it in the show. Little hints and nods to their relationship ❣️
And in the episode 'Summer Love', Helga performs mouth to mouth on Arnold on the beach in a tv show for making the best sand castle. And she pretty much slobbed him down then too because she was 'acting'. Huge fan, got all the seasons and movies lol!
isn't it funny how this kids cartoon from the 90s tackled not only kid's issues but societal issues in general, meanwhile adult cartoons today are purely scatological
@raynaldo arlen k.eman A yandere is a suicidal, murderous harpy. Helga is not that. A tsundere is someone who is mean on the outside, but sweet on the inside. Angelica Pickles, Helga Paktai, Cindy Vortex & Sam Puckett are all Nickelodeon examples of this.
I remember reading it in an article and a 107 facts about Hey Arnold video mentioned it, but after the first Hey Arnold movie, and Arnold heard Helga’s confession that’s when he started to actually develop feelings for her. And in the episode, “April Fools Day” during their tango, Arnold was actually flirting with Helga
Exactly! He shows signs of genuinely liking Helga, but at the same time he's distracted by Lila. Arnold would've gotten tired of Lila's perfectionism sooner or later
I think Arnold started liking her in the Hey Arnold! movie. Once she confessed her feelings, he started feeling something for her. Then when she went above and beyond to ensure he won a trip to San Lorenzo, he knew he liked her.
We all deserve to see Arnold take helga to the cheese festival, holding hands, Arnold learning about the good deeds and obsessive things she did for Arnold, seeing Arnold teasing helga. Them getting to know each other better, understanding, communication, seeing them help each other. I also wanna see episodes of helga do good deeds without thinking and not having the desire for something in return for her good deeds. I wanna see more of Arnold being assertive, taking control, not being easy pry to pick on and will get back at helga in chasing down helga kinda way of pinning her down with mischievous sweet talk, etc. Getting helga all flustered, shy, bashful. I wanna see them argue, like in the egg story or bio square, to give them more options to handle their relationship better. Playful banter and bickering (like argue but not really), I wanna see them kiss, hug, dance, at the beach alone together, etc. I wanna see Arnold secretly listening in on helga ranting about her love for Arnold in poetry speech. I bet Arnold wants to find out who the red high heel belongs to, learn about who the little pink book that is filled with love poems about him belongs to. I'm pretty sure that Arnold still has both the pink book and one red high heel. We deserve to see other hey Arnold characters find love to.
When Helga was pretending to be his pen pal and looked and acted like a nice girl that she is he had a thing for her. Even after it came out he was going back and forth between her and Ruth she wasn't mad and in the end he was left with feelings for an unknown girl.
Just because someone is kind doesn’t mean they would still willingly go on a date with someone they didn’t find attractive or interesting at least, I think Arnold did have feelings but was ultimately afraid to express them due to fear of maybe driving off helga or fear she didn’t actually feel the same way. Boys are often frightened of rejection as well.
Whether Arnold loved Helga long before or not, who can ignore Helga's unfailing love which brought back his parents? She had completely altruistic motives (even though she was neglected herself), and he reciprocated eventually.
The hat/hug thing was just him happy that he got his hat back. It was a gift from his parents. He would have hugged anyone who returned it. The other stuff though is definitely him kinda liking her. Arnold is always trying to get people to do the right thing and helping people but in preschool he paid special attention to her. And the wink was everything. I think he liked her a little and it got stronger as time went on when he saw that she could be kind and had a soft side.
I think Arnold liked her as a friend from the start and never hated her, he was annoyed at her being mean but never went as far as hating her. He started to develop feelings for her around the time of the first movie I believe but he definitely realized he loved her during the jungle movie, that’s why he kissed her
0:17 I really enjoyed that episode (Helga on the couch) I liked how it showed us Helga’s childhood and how her obsession with Arnold started that he was the only one who noticed her
I believe Arnold's loved Helga for quite a long time, they were just subconscious feelings. Starting at around Season 5, and after the first movie, his feelings finally came into surface
No one is going to tell me about the tango scene in April Fools Day!?

It's one of the most revolutionary episodes in Hey Arnold (and the fandom), where all the Dark Arnold (basically the possessive and teasing side of him) thing started.
there should be the new season for hey Arnold 😥 I'd watch it when I was at elementary school, and now I hope that my kid and my future grand son will know and love this animation too..
The first two aren’t rlly good reasons bcs 1. Arnold was a toddler, and he’s naturally kind and caring towards anyone. 2. It’s showed later in the series that his parents gave him the hat, which is why it means so much to him. And the hugging, when I had lost something for a long time and someone found it when I was younger I wanted to hug them too and I wasn’t too fond of him? I love this but like let’s be Fr tho 😭😭
Except it's actually true this time and not just some BS a writer threw together to justify the main character's sudden change in attitude towards someone.
They're a really cute little couple. I've been rewatching Hey Arnold on Hulu (because quarantine lol). It was nostalgic for me, but I couldn't really understand it all that well as a kid. Now watching it again and being able to appreciate the story and characters even more, I realized how well written their realtionship is. Idk how I never noticed it before. I totally get why she is so enthusiastic. It's so well done and just so cute.
The way how helga used to bully arnold makes my heart scream "no helga dont do what I did" . I feel that there is some sort of coping mechanism that makes a child do this to people they like. I did it and I still dont understand why i did it.. When I saw hey arnold when i was like 18 I felt like this is something that happens more often when you are a child aand cant control your feelings.
Here's the thing, Arnold is generally a kind person and emotionally more aware than even he knows. So yes he liked Helga and I'd say he was even aware of how she felt about him from fairly early on. In the dream episode where Helga imagines a life with Arnold and he has a nightmare about his life with Helga... at he end of his Nightmare he calls Helga out on her attitude, saying that she's NOT this mean. Nightmare Helga/ admits he's right, admits he's seen who she really is and is about to admit her feelings when he wakes up. This was all in ARNOLD'S dreams which says a lot. In fact it happened AGAIN in his dream of visiting his Country Cousin, where he flipped everyone's personality/roles. Country Lila was after Arnold whereas Country Helga (a more overt poet) was after Country Arnold. What this shows is that, subconsciously, he's aware of what's going on and how people feel about one another. His conscious mind just hadn't made the connections yet. That's to be expected, he's a kid afterall.
I like to think that after the show ended, when they grew up they ended up together 🥰 like they both grow up to be very attractive and into each other like when Arnold and Helga had that dream about marrying each other ❤️
I know they are only 9-10 but holy Molly that tango scene is the most intense high octane flirting I have ever scene on the screen. It gives me the shivers however wrong it is. :)
Of course! Arnold has loved has loved Helga since pre school after commenting on her bow and giving her his crackers. He always loved her but didn't really see it until she confessed her feelings for him later on, but there were plenty of episodes where you could see that he really cared about her.
Well the creator Craig Bartlett did confirm that they become a couple and get married and have children. I hope to see that in a continuation series of the show.
Hey Arnold what an amazing cartoon! Nick had some really great shows back then. I would go back & forth from cartoon network to nick all the time. Reliving my childhood all over with P.S 118... Arnold & Helga 4evvva!
In "Arnold Visits Arnie" Arnold falls for Hilda, which is basically just a nice version of Helga. That was season 5, so it really was decided by then that he likes her, he just might not have known it yet.
He probably started liking her when they went on that double date and in that movie but he's young and I believe he was so used to his dynamic with her he didn't know how to process it. He still ten after all.

They actually kissed each other in the episode “school play” it was cute
wow!
And in the episode 'Summer Love', Helga performs mouth to mouth on Arnold on the beach in a tv show for making the best sand castle. And she pretty much slobbed him down then too because she was 'acting'. Huge fan, got all the seasons and movies lol!
@@desra753 which season!?
They even kiss in the jungle movie
"Summer Love" was the end of Season 4, if I'm correct.
I love hey Arnold man I wish they still could make cartoon like this again.
isn't it funny how this kids cartoon from the 90s tackled not only kid's issues but societal issues in general, meanwhile adult cartoons today are purely scatological
helga's the tsundere. in spite of that, he's still generous to her.
@raynaldo arlen k.eman that's what I was going to say, definitely a yandere, a helgere
In the end, we can agree that Helga got what she wanted. She actually earned that kiss and the relationship that came with it.
I think that Arnold THOUGHT he loved Lila, but deep, deep down inside, he really loved Helga. Even if he didn't realize it.
Then when she went above and beyond to ensure he won a trip to San Lorenzo, he knew he liked her.
he didnt say
How about that dream he had with his weird cousin
Dream?
Kora Marie yeah I forget what episode but he has a dream where everyone is Not themselves
@@MariaRuiz-kx8od oh wow
I think the dream proved that subconsciously Arnold likes Helga and knows she has a secret nice sensitive side she hides.
The dream version he had of Helga was her just being herself without the added hostility.
Arnold's grand parents had the same kind of relationship when they was young. That's all you need to know
That episode was when it was super obvious Arnold and Helga were cemented for me.
You tuber: Look how he looks at her!
Arnold: 0-0
o o
r
Maybe if boys were more like Arnold I wouldn’t be afraid to express my feelings. 😖
More guys like Arnold, please
Exactly hahaha
Exactlyyyyyy ugh
maybe if boys were more like arnold i would be straight
*same.*
I love how Arnold's hat is smaller than Helga's bow.
and his head
Arnold and Helga have always been two of my most favorite characters in the Hey Arnold series.
The short answer is:
Yes. He always loved her from the start. He was just in denial.
Just glad they are finally together. I waited almost 20 years for that!
There should’ve been more seasons of Hey Arnold after the first movie to see what happened between him and Helga.
I think he was just always nice. Being nice doesn't always mean they like that person.
I always thought he liked her but just didnt say anything because she always bully him but In reality I think he knew she loved him
He even stuck up for Helga when Patty was going to beat her up
@@candicehoneycutt4318 even though it served her right.
Yeah
Jasmine Shaver yess! glad to know someone with the same thoughts as well
@@athirahsufyan7509 even if you looked at some of the episodes he would always smile at her for no reason
I'm turning 30, I still remember watching this in the morning before I go to school. Love from the Philippines.
Hey Arnold is one of the best cartoons. Truly ahead of it's time
The Jungle Movie was not their first kiss. She kissed him during the Hey Arnold Movie. He was definitely more flirtatious with her after that day.
they also had 2 kisses before that
They have kissed in the episode "School play." Arnold did not stop her either
@@Redhoodsgf
And In Summer Love
I hate how everyone forgets about the time Helga confessed in the first movie. It was great. ❤ He didn’t reject her like in the Jungle movie. 🤷♀️
This is the content we live for
“Let’s move on to the infamous kiss”
*Lol they did this in the first movie what happened*
I think Arnold liked her as a friend from the start and never hated her, he was annoyed at her being mean but never went as far as hating her. He started to develop feelings for her around the time of the first movie I believe but he definitely realized he loved her during the jungle movie, that’s why he kissed her
0:17 I really enjoyed that episode (Helga on the couch) I liked how it showed us Helga’s childhood and how her obsession with Arnold started that he was the only one who noticed her
When Eugene was crowned the King of Fools I instantly thought of that song from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
"Topsy Turvey".
I believe Arnold's loved Helga for quite a long time, they were just subconscious feelings. Starting at around Season 5, and after the first movie, his feelings finally came into surface
Is it just me or does the narrator sound just a little too invested in Arnold and Helga's relationship?
No one is going to tell me about the tango scene in April Fools Day!?
It's one of the most revolutionary episodes in Hey Arnold (and the fandom), where all the Dark Arnold (basically the possessive and teasing side of him) thing started.
When you realized its basically what played at the end of the video XD
what is dark arnold
@@lio7781 Its basically Arnold, but suave and all.
Um, fellas, is it just me or is the floor moving? 😂😂😂😂😂 4:15
they’re the most adorable couple ever on nick
Yes 💙💗
reallivejay gaming its true period and you just have to face the fact
there should be the new season for hey Arnold 😥 I'd watch it when I was at elementary school, and now I hope that my kid and my future grand son will know and love this animation too..
I think he has really loved Helga but he didn't noticed that until the Jungle Movie.
The first two aren’t rlly good reasons bcs
I would say he subconsciously loved her like how Naruto felt with Hinata
Yeah there were like two dream episodes where Arnold envisioned Helga’s hidden niceness
Hinata and naruto are a fucking mistake
Except it's actually true this time and not just some BS a writer threw together to justify the main character's sudden change in attitude towards someone.
kelonwashington96- No way. SasuNaru forever.
He had bright eyes because she had his beloved hat. That's all.
Craig Bartlett HIMSELF stated, that in the April Fool's Day episode, that that's when Arnold actually started "like liking" Helga
My favorite cartoon of all times.
Throughout all these years, Arnold secretly liked Helga
Nickelodeon needs to wake up and start shows this again 🙏🏻
This title made me cry a little bit 😭❤️
This person is a little too excited on this cartoon topic lol
Ikr she's a grown woman talking about 9 year olds xD no hate though lol
They're a really cute little couple.
I've been rewatching Hey Arnold on Hulu (because quarantine lol).
It was nostalgic for me, but I couldn't really understand it all that well as a kid.
Now watching it again and being able to appreciate the story and characters even more, I realized how well written their realtionship is. Idk how I never noticed it before.
I totally get why she is so enthusiastic. It's so well done and just so cute.
The tango kills me 😂❤
The way how helga used to bully arnold makes my heart scream "no helga dont do what I did" . I feel that there is some sort of coping mechanism that makes a child do this to people they like. I did it and I still dont understand why i did it.. When I saw hey arnold when i was like 18 I felt like this is something that happens more often when you are a child aand cant control your feelings.
once I watched Helga on the couch, then I understood everything..... then I felt really bad
I haven’t seen the new movie yet, so I hate that I watched this 😂
Justin Jay C. You gotta watch it. Its a pretty good movie
Justin Jay C. Watch it bro
Yeah, what he said. _watch the movie._ It's out on DVD, and you can watch it here on UA-cam for just $5.
L-Y3T or if he has a firestick he can watch it for free
@@JuiceGamingAD or he could actually support the creator so he can keep making this show
Here's the thing, Arnold is generally a kind person and emotionally more aware than even he knows.
I like to think that after the show ended, when they grew up they ended up together 🥰 like they both grow up to be very attractive and into each other like when Arnold and Helga had that dream about marrying each other ❤️
"I like your bow, cause its pink like your pants" so cute 😭❤
I don't know. I guess Arnold did have a soft spot for Helga.
And since all those gestures he has shown, it's possible.
I always knew Arnold had feelings for her a long time ago . . . He just didn't even realize it
I know they are only 9-10 but holy Molly that tango scene is the most intense high octane flirting I have ever scene on the screen. It gives me the shivers however wrong it is. :)
I'm so glad there's still people wondering about hey arnold
Of course! Arnold has loved has loved Helga since pre school after commenting on her bow and giving her his crackers. He always loved her but didn't really see it until she confessed her feelings for him later on, but there were plenty of episodes where you could see that he really cared about her.
Arnold was a smooth operator LOL 😂😂😂😂
The narrator was so hyped up with that kiss 😂😂
Despite Helga’s torrid obsession over him, I never thought Arnold would feel like this, too. At least there’s no Lila involved.
Helga is a Tsundere Queen in all cartoons (not anime, but cartoons)!
Arnold has smooth moves . He knows what's going on 😏😏😏
A++ to the narrator for giving me faith in love again
Wow, I do think Arnold had a thing for Helga and Arnold told Helga his feelings towards her in the jungle movie. :)
I’ve always like how Helga called Arnold football head anyway.
This gives me such nostalgia, thanks for bringing back the ogs :)
THEY GOT MARRIED AND THEY HAVE 3 CHILDREN! PERIOD! . oh my childhood
Nexo wait they did
Did they become a couple in the end of the 2017 movie?
yeah they kissed at the end then arnold tried to hold her hand
Yea
Yessss
they kiss 2 times i think!?
Yes they did
Well the creator Craig Bartlett did confirm that they become a couple and get married and have children. I hope to see that in a continuation series of the show.
1:29 Helga looks really nice on this date :')
2:50 So cute :')
3:55 looool :')
They have always loved each other and always will. Now please approve another season!
the woman narrating is sooooo me- feeding the delulu’s to myself 😭😭
Hey Arnold what an amazing cartoon! Nick had some really great shows back then. I would go back & forth from cartoon network to nick all the time. Reliving my childhood all over with P.S 118... Arnold & Helga 4evvva!
They got the right narrator for this for sure 😂
1:11
Look at the way he looks at her!
Arnold:o_o
In "Arnold Visits Arnie" Arnold falls for Hilda, which is basically just a nice version of Helga. That was season 5, so it really was decided by then that he likes her, he just might not have known it yet.
He probably started liking her when they went on that double date and in that movie but he's young and I believe he was so used to his dynamic with her he didn't know how to process it. He still ten after all.
I legit teared up seeing them kiss each other. Arnold and Helga are perfect for each other!🥺🥺🥺
