I liked Lila ...she wasn't a bad character for not liking Arnold in a special way .. that's just part of life.. even as a kid she was herself..a sweet ,down to Earth kid who just wanted to make friends
Phebie knew of her secret too but they acted around the others as if everything is normal and that's why Helga is scrolling around with her anger as a front so their classmates won't be the wizer
Lots of people eventfully suspected of Helga's crush. Phoebe, being Helga's best friend eventually knew. Grandpa Phil pointed it out in "Girl Trouble". And Big Patty suspected it in "Helga vs. Big Patty".
Idk if I’m just screwed up but I used to die laughing at that scene where her dad eats the last can of beans. My favorite part of the entire series lol It’s just the way he says it
Looking back on my personal viewing experience, I found Lila to be a little too "perfect". I mean, her character flaws are highlighted in this video. I guess it didn't help that she was Arnold's love interest for so long in the series. I don't hate her, but the episodes featuring Lila in a prominent role aren't my favorites.
I think in absence of her flaws she would have been a really boring character. It's okay that she was shown to be this "well-liked good girl" but it was her flaws that made her more relatable.
Lila's kindness/sweetness probably started out as a mask for her to deal with her pain, but (after a while) it became a big part of her personality (similar to Helga's bullying)
Wow, I never thought of that, but it makes sense. Maybe being nice was kind of a coping method for her difficult family life and then later it just became a habit.
When the father said he ate the last can of beans for lunch it was both funny and extremely sad. What made it funny was that just when you think their situation couldn't get worse, the writers threw in them starving as an extra measure. Like a cruel joke.
There's just something about a dad admitting to eating the last can of beans for lunch while his daughter is starving then immediately crying into his hands that gets me. It's sad but it's also outrageous.
I've always loved Lila. She was a fantastic addition to Arnold's friend group. And fun fact, in the episode "Eugene Eugene", the song she sung for her audition, she was actually saying how sad she really is in real life and just puts on a happy facade to hide it. That was 💔. It was just a reminder how we never know what someone is really going through and how they truly feel
Agreed And I always liked that despite her getting picked on at first the rest came to appreciate her after seeing the situation she was in. Always loved new cast additions in shows
Lila seemed perfect on the surface. But I liked when it showed that she was actually PISS POOR moneywise. Luckily, her dad did get a job, and a well paying one too for Lila to have all those expensive hobbies. That made the girls look at her different. But Arnold should have stopped pursuing her when he saw that their friendship would NEVER grow romantic.
Good point, her dad's new job allowed Lila to have expensive hobbies, it must have been a well-paying one. I agree, Arnold was should have stopped at the first rejection. He could have moved on to someone else.
His job isn't well paying. They still live in a decrepit apartment, which is mostly bare. And Lila is shown eating free food at the cafeteria I getting the boys to buy her things from the vending machines. The Olga and Lila episode shows her dad has her enrolled in assistant programs for underprivileged/impovershed youths. Maybe those pay for her dance lessons, or maybe her dad uses his whole paycheck to care for her, instead of trying to get treatment for his own issues (which would also help her tremendously by the way).
I mean, he’s 9 and doesn’t really have an older figure to explain that to him, I think we can forgive him for not understanding that yet. Also, it was complicated by the fact that it seemed like there had been one thing at one time, he might’ve thought he could get that back. That’s a lot of complicated emotions and feelings for a kid to work through with a childhood crush, let alone one without a role model. It can be a difficult lesson for older teens to learn. Arnold’s a good kid and would have gotten it eventually though.
He eventually did, especially when you consider that she wasn't seen as a main character in either movie. She was only a background character at that point. Same thing happened when he stopped liking Ruth, she was never seen again.
Lila is a good kid that you'll have rare chance of bumping into during your elementary school years. Despite that she and her dad lived in a rundown apartment she always looked at the positive in life while most kids in their situation at that age would've lashed out at the world. While Lila and Arnold may not be together romantically I see them growing pretty close together as true friends throughout middle and high school helping out people as a team. In the future i see Lila being a professional ballerina traveling throughout Europe performing ballets greatest hits. But stays in touch with Arnold and the crew writing letters and sending pictures of where she's been.
Lila was very sweet. She was like one of those kids in your school who was just nice to everyone. I can see Lila and Arnold as close friends as well. I don't know how Helga would react to that though. I can see Lila as fulfilling her dream of becoming a ballerina as well. She seemed very determined and smart.
@@DialUpDigest considering Lila was the only one who knew of Helgas feelings for Arnold. I think she would have to learn not to get jealous. Besides elementary and middle school relationships tend not to last long. Yeah I know Lila will work hard enough to become a fantastic ballerina. Who knows maybe when she makes a name for herself she'll send tickets to the gang and her dad to see her preform in Russia.
@Ellande Campbell But it is kind of annoying the way she would lead Arnold on. As a result, Arnold ended up getting his heart Arnold. Him of all people on the show didn't deserve that. Sure she's nice, but her "perfect" nature is super unrealistic and annoying.
@@DialUpDigest maybe Lila doesn’t want to feel anything for someone else something tells me she had those feelings before and it ended up in disappointment and can’t bear to live that again, even it means someone else has to get hurt
@@yourelying44 yeah like she's put out obvious signals before that she doesn't really see Arnold that way. Yeah she had a thing for him at one point, but only cuz she thought Arnold felt the same way, but it ended up backfiring on Arnold cuz he ended up having those feelings throughout the rest of the series. So really, she's not stringing Arnold along he's just projecting those feelings onto someone who didn't see him in that way, making the same mistake he did with Ruth
Well, she did force Helga to confess her love for Arnold in order to give her the role of Juliet (even though she already "had a funny feeling" that she liked him)
well most super shy or super polite types like Lila have some hidden dark side to them. it just makes Lila look more realistic, but it was a kids show so it makes sense she never does anything to bad. I always thought Lila's persona felt a little fake sometimes to hide her pain. maybe making Helga confess was Lila's way of getting a little revenge for how Helga treated her when she moved to the city and maybe she was stringing Arnold along a little cause she was a little embarrassed about what Helga wrote on the wall.
Im sure it is or she likes having simps Or after Arnold's bumping her and Later confirming to her she just had her feelings too twisted on the situation or felt played by him, So in return not only she got over him she decided to played with him keeping the friendzone. Yes Arnold was pushy about it but Lila kept the hmm flame on like giving signs of hope of her liking him but at the end saying no. I belive that was clear in the lil girl crushing on him episode
I think the reason that Lila doesn't like Arnold is that way is because he's independent. It's clear Lila likes taking care of people, like she took care of her father and Arnie. She needs to be the one who helps but with Arnold he's the person who ends up helping everyone all the time.
Nice video! Idk if its just me but Lila kinda reminds me of Olga cause of her being popular, pretty, well liked and an overachiever. Besides her being the object of Arnold's affection, maybe the reason why Helga hates Lila so much is cause subconsciously she reminds her of her sister.
Thanks! 😊 That's a good point. Lila had a lot in common with Olga. When they started hanging out together, they even got along better than Olga and Helga. I guess Helga just didn't like anyone who seemed too good to be true.
Helga doesn't hate Lila, at the end of her introduction Helga actually publicly admits to liking her. She is just jelouse that Lila is able to mask her pain from an unhappy home life more positively than Helga and as a result is more positively recived by their peers (a.k.a Aronld). We also see in episodes like the play ir that one Halloween episode that Lila is plenty willing to help Helga with her feelings, but demands honesty from Helga as payment; and that a payment Helga is very scared about giving.
i used to really dislike lila when i was younger. but after re-watching the show, i genuinely adored her. her kindness was genuine and she just wanted to befriend everyone. i also admired how she was in tune with her feelings in the episode “arnold and lila”. she realized that she never really liked arnold and communicated that with him. she was always honest with him with her feelings and how she didn’t feel the same way. arnold was always so pushy when it comes to his crush on lila. it got so cringy at times.
@@tori8009 "Polite" or not, that wasn't honest. She didn't feel the same way about him. She'd been honest before that, so why change at that point? She did the same thing in "Timberly Loves Arnold"
I liked how Lila was honest with Arnold in "Arnold and Lila" as well. She didn't want to lead him on so she communicated her feelings clearly towards him. She didn't have to do that, but she did because she was aware of his feelings. I agree, Arnold was a little cringy at times.
I think one of the reasons why fans hated her was even though Arnold "liked-liked" her, she just didn't feel the same way; in her mind, he was too dull. Then there was the episode where she pulled a double standard and fell for his cousin even though Arnie was the extreme version of that. Add the episode where she bonded with Olga and left Helga in the gutter and there you have it. Of course, that's just my own personal opinion.
Good points Sarah! 😊 I agree, Lila's actions sometimes left Arnold or Helga feeling hurt, which was difficult to watch. At the same time, Lila seemed oblivious to the hurt she was causing, which made it easy to not like Lila.
So she's supposed to love and forgive someone who encouraged others to torment her for no reason when she was already going through a hard time? I liked the show 'Hey Arnold' for being more real than other shows, and showing the dual nature of humans while still giving them the room to choose to be better. Let a stranger try making it their mission to get others to humiliate you and let's see how you handle it. ALSO, Arnold played with her emotions. In today's times, women get a "yass queen" when rejecting men who toy with their hearts. Whether that was his intention or not, that was the effect. I'd rather a daughter who chose herself than a guy who was wishy washy with his affections. Just wish she applied the same temerity to his cousin. She gave both of them multiple chances, which she shouldn't have felt obligated to do.
My issue with her is that she comes off as a try hard. I also didn't like when she let Arnold take her to the cheese festival and she let him do all things a boyfriend would do like trying to win her a stuffed bear, even though she is allergic to stuffed animals, they went on the tunnel of love together and one point she bats her eyes at him. I wish she would have said "We can go as friends" that was just weird to me
Lila is probably my favorite character. She's not a jerk like Helga. She has a bad home life too, but she doesn't take it out on others. She treats everyone with respect and kindness despite her rotten life.
She was a sweetheart. Good point, the way Lila dealt with her difficult life was much different than how Helga dealt with hers. Because of that, Lila was much more likable.
well Lilas situation was different than Helgas too, Lila was poor but her father loved her, Helgas family had a stable income but Bob neglected her and favorited her sister Olga while Mariam was an alcoholic
@Joey Baseball Lila at least had a loving father who paid attention to her and spent Time with her. Sure Helga's dad was rich, but he was a jerk. A child can grow up with rich/well off parents, but nothing hurts more than being a neglected child. Helga's situation was worse than Lila's in my opinion.
@@amylee8969 while Helga bullied people she still did her share of good things as well using her dads company for Arnolds school float, Stops Olga from marrying a guy who was cheating on her, Saved Arnold from drowning, Threw the spelling bee after finding out her dad tried to bribe Arnold, and re-united Mr. Hyunh with his daughter
Arnold should have given up on Lila the moment she rejected him after taking her to the Cheese Festival (ie spending money) and, ahem, SAVING HER FUCKING LIFE. I'm not saying she owes him, but I certainly wouldn't bother trying to win her over going forward They also did miss out on making her a more interesting character. After her debut episode, she turned into a Mary Sue with a tiny hint of passive aggressiveness. They could have built on her Arnie thing by her showing interest in Wolfgang or some other douchebag character.
I agree that Arnold tried to win her over for too long. I think Lila could have been a more interesting character too, after the debut she was reduced to Arnold's love interest only.
I knew a girl like Lila in my dance troupe in NYC. However, she flew into some of the most insane, violent, angry mood swings. Very Jekyll and Hyde dual personality. It had cost her two previous marriages, and gotten her in trouble and even fired from past jobs. She wasn’t a bad person, just slightly unhinged.
@@austyn5004 yeah DBT and mood stabilizers are the best things to help with BPD. I've been able to manage mine enough to live a pretty normal and healthy life fortunately
I'm not sure if anyone already mentioned it in this comment section, but based on how Lila just changed her tune over "liking liking" Arnold after he confess about starting to like her that way and how she seems to somehow fall for his cousin over him despite him not looking interested, it makes me think that Lila is the type of girl who would fall for someone who don't reciprocate her feelings back to her. It kinda makes you think, how selfless her love is if she's willing to really like someone who don't feel the same way towards her directly. 🤔
I mean, first Arnold rejected his love to her and then the next day, started loving her. He was toying with her emotions. How would you feel if someone did the same thing Arnold did to you?
@@Idonotlikepeanutbutter832 Well for starts did Arnold even really know Lila that episode? Also how do you know it was the next day because if it was the next day I'm certain she wouldn't have rejected him, it's not toying with her emotions it's changing his mind sometimes people are taken off guard by things like this.(Especially when they hadn't considered it before). It was her right to say yes or no after but it was also his right to reject her, think about it then change his mind. I know he could have said idk but as I said before, did he really know Lila before she said that?
For Lila, I have this Like and dislike for her. Besides the friend zoning Arnold thing, she seems like the girl who likes to play with another person's feelings if you get too attached to her. I'm sure she's not like that though when she's living in an small place. That's kind of the vibe she gives me after watching all the Hey Arnold episodes. Maybe it's the writers, or maybe it's me thinking the wrong things.
she didn’t really friend zone arnold, though. she made it clear to him from the start after she realized that she never really liked arnold. it was his job to get over it and respect her boundaries.
I think Lila's actions were confusing. I don't know if Lila was playing with Arnold's emotions, because she did tell him more than once that she didn't "like him, like him". But I think she thought she could still be friendly towards him anyway, which ended up giving Arnold hope. That messed with his emotions, but I don't know if Lila did that intentionally or not.
@@jackcarraway4707exactly… Lila gives me those vibes that you can get close to me but not too close to me… although I’ll continue to entertain it I won’t act out on it … seems like in several occasions especially with the cheese festive episode that she kinda gave false hope and even other episodes it’s pretty wishy washy with her
Ms Perfect is one of the few episodes of Lila that I actually like. Bc in other episodes she comes off as sweet but too much sweetness is overwhelming. Also, many moments especially with Arnold Lila used sweetness in a back handed way like saying things all sweet and nice but then is like oh but remember I don’t like you like that. And also she in her sweet voice tells Helga you tell me you like Arnold then I’ll give you the part which hello is blackmail for info. The time Helga tries to dress and act like Lila when Arnold hasn’t spent time with her she’s wondering why he didn’t come to see her and when he mentions he’s with Helga she says “Helga, well that sounds nice” but her tone sounds like she deep down isn’t thrilled he was pining for her instead. Also Craig Bartlett himself said he felt himself though she was nice she had deep down a sneaky dark side to her and that’s the creator talking. I could go on and on but basically there’s something of Lila I don’t fully trust.
@jessicarodriguez8990 That’s one of the very few episodes when I liked Lila and thought she was innocent. As the show progressed, her perfect flawless personality got a little annoying. I also didn’t like the way Lila appeared to be leading Arnold on when SHE is the one who started liking him first.
I actually know of a real life town called Pleasantville. But unlike Lila’s Pleasantville, it’s not all country, it’s a little city like, it’s in southern New Jersey near Atlantic City.
It's amazing how many people completely misunderstand her character. Her "oh so sweet" personality is an act which she uses to manipulate Arnold as revenge for breaking up with her, she'll lead him on only to reject him when he gets his hopes up. She stands in direct contrast to Helga, who seems mean but actually really cares for Arnold. Her actual personality is probably more along the lines of Lulu.
I didn't like how shed cut Arnold down around Arnie rejection is fine, but the whole"Arnie? Your cousin who looks almost identical to you only much more attractive" unnecessarily mean.
I dont like lila because she lied about making her outfit. Rhonda is litteraly in the same outfit. Girl only wears designers. Lila over hear lyin. I bet that her dad has no job because he got caught on camara after he stole those expensive threads for his daughter. I see you mr sawyer.
Looking back on the dynamic between Lila & Arnold, it’s clear Arnold is the classic “nice guy” who idealizes a woman as “perfect” and feels he’s entitled to her because he’s the nice guy. So, he constantly pursues her despite the many times she’s made it clear she’s not interested. So, it makes you think… Arnold more so likes the IDEA of Lila than Lila herself.
@@DialUpDigest I think Arnold was obsessed with the idea of his first crush 'Ruth' whereas with Lila it was more of him missing the attention/affection she showed him when she thought he was sweet on her. Lila is probably the first girl to show him that kind of attention and after reflecting on it.... he found he liked it and wanted more and thus fixated on her for a bit.
So then why did she date his similar looking cousin? And why are you framing innocent school crush as something malicious? This was the fucking 90s, where such persistence was appreciated, regardless of how you felt for the person.
@@CyberusSuper You can calm the hell down and choke on a Xanax. It’s not that deep… chill 🙄 My comment clearly went over your head. Educate yourself and look up “nice guy syndrome”
I remember when they found out about her and her dad’s situation watching that as a kid absolutely ruined me, I was about 8 years old bawling over it.. so many people live this way
Lila kinda reminds me of a craftier and farm girl version of Chuckie Finster. Like Chuckie, she was orphaned from her mother and in the process, both their fathers were widowers.
Lila is like the little girl Megan is the one episode of Rugrats. Chuckie falls for her and she strings him along. Chuckie finally stands up for himself at the end. Having had enough.
Wow, awesome comparison! They were both red-heads, and were raised by their fathers. I'm not sure if Lila's father was a widow though, maybe she just wasn't in their life, or they got divorced.
lila was a sweet girl who just wanted to ne liked and make friends the episode ms perfect was heart warming to watch i like her personality she is herself and she is cool
I liked Lila the best in the episode "Ms. Perfect". She seemed the most down to earth and relatable. After that episode, she was just Arnold's love interest and didn't have much of a personality.
Yeah same, LOL! She was like somewhat more of a background character after that episode yet had a more prominent part of the show that most other characters like they.
@@DialUpDigest seeing her get garbage poured on her and her reaction was so heart breaking and we see her homelife it was great to see the girls make it right even tho she didn’t join there fold they were still open to let her interact with them
I always thought Lila looked so much like “Anne of Green Gables” LOL! I thought Lila was so sweet when I was a kid. Then, I kinda started to hate her in my 20’s as I thought she was kinda fake and misleading towards Arnold. But now that I’m in my 30’s, I don’t know I’m starting to like her again. Especially since you know she’s really not “little miss perfect” since she lives in a bad neighborhood and her family is quite poor.
No, I never said that. I’m saying how I’ve gone through stages about I’ve felt about her. Loved her when I was a kid, then started to dislike her because I thought she was kinda misleading towards Arnold, now I’m starting to like her again. I actually do admire her strength for how she deals with everything in her life. When she is portrayed as being “Little Miss Perfect” on the outside, it more than likely is a cover up for how she feels about being poor.
As a kid it always annoyed me how Lila always spurned Arnold but as an adult I realized it was because she knew Helga liked Arnold and didn’t want to come between them
These characters should've been 12 year olds. Too much relationship, drama, too much freedom in the big city. It's just more believable that way. I love the show though! One of the biggest parts of my childhood.
I noticed Lila and Gerald never interacted with each other, the vast majority of episodes that Lila was on Gerald was nowhere to be seen or heard of. It’s also as if Arnold didn’t hang around Gerald as much when Lila came into the series
Good point. Lila and Gerald never did interact. Whenever Arnold mentioned Lila to Gerald, Arnold would go off in pursuit of her and Gerald never directly talked to her.
@@DialUpDigest come to think of it Gerald was also one of the few boys that didn’t have a crush on Lila, I feel like most of the boys had feelings for her at some point
@@gmoneyslotmachinevideos Gerald had Phoebe early on in the series. And he didnt have to obsess or brag. They always just quietly came together and that was one of my favorite things in the show.
The can of beans scene may have come accross as a joke as a kid. When you grow up, it hits you that many people are rationing food like that very frequently
I don't like Lila because I saw her as boring and annoying. It was more than the 'I dont like her because she's a roadblock between Helga and Arnold.' In my opinion she's way too nice and polite. Don't get me wrong, those are good traits to have but I thought she took it way too far. Like with the bumper cars how she saw it as a mean game. With the other kids, they were all three-dimensional characters. They had their moments when they were happy, excited, angry, hurt, frustrated, stubborn, rude, scared, embarrassed, etc. I would see them make mistakes and grow. With Lila, I don't recall her ever going through that outside her debut episode. She was always painted as this funny, smart, artistic, polite, kind, sophisticated person. It would be nice to see that other than her getting praised by Arnold. I could easily forget about Lila and whenever she appeared on screen, I'd roll my eyes because she never really served any purpose in the episode. I've heard she's supposed to have this darker side, which would be far more interesting to see other than her being the play episode where she gets Helga to reveal her crush on Arnold.
Honestly, I would have been really Glad and proud to have such a nice, beautiful and kind-hearted girl just like lika Girls nowadays are not like her anymore sad 😔
Hard times will "Humble" people but once Lila dad got his weight up she became a "snob" her character was worse than Rhonda Boyd, at least when she was pa pa poor....she stayed true to who she was...Lila was always fake...
Hey Arnold! is my favorite TV show of all-time and has been since it first aired when I was 5; it's aged phenomenally well I think. It's got so much heart and creativity and it's well-crafted. I stumbled upon your channel and really enjoy your content--subscribed and will definitely watch more. Thank you!
@@DialUpDigest I'm interested to see your thoughts on Agatha Caufield, Arnold's favorite author -- I know she's essentially a one-off character (only appearing in her episode and apparently Summer Love according to Google) but I always thought that episode was one of the more powerful ones for its overall story and the ending message. Of course, it's merely a suggestion, and I have dozens to catch up on that you've already uploaded (in addition to other content such as Rugrats)
I never really understood why she was introduced. She never really became a serious love interest for Arnold. She was almost as bad as (?) Mcdougal. Her story arc was also kind of meh… and then Arnold’s cousin…. 😖
I always thought she was precious and sweet, I wanted to be just like her because she was so polite and sweet, even if Helga's attitude and strength made her more relatable for a tomboy. I always liked Helga and Arnold together, but I admired Lila's politeness and how cheerful she is despite her bad situation.
In School Play i think after helga telling lila she liked arnold so Lila would shoot his advances down out of respect✨️ But also stringing Arnold along for 2 epsidoes was ridiculous.

Since they are both dream sequences, both Lulu in Arnold Dream and Lila in Helga's where she is married to Arnold are telling. You note there is one BIG difference between Lulu and Lila, Lulu is a LOT more "provocative" (i.e. her "like" is anything but chaste.) Arnolds early hormones kicking in? Subconsciously Arnold knew having romantic relationships with Lila was a mess
The fact that Lila fell for Arnold simply because she thought he liked her is a big red flag and a sign of poor self-esteem.

And I always liked that despite her getting picked on at first the rest came to appreciate her after seeing the situation she was in.
Always loved new cast additions in shows
Shes ever so annoying 😂😂
He's 9 he wouldn't understand

She looks like Wendy from Wendy's
lol, she really does look like Wendy from Wendy's 😆
Lila is sweet but her character is extremely unrealistic. There's no such thing as a perfect flawless person.

I don't have an issue with her not "like liking" Arnold, but there were times that she strung him along ("Love & Cheese", "Timberly Loves Arnold")
It was tough seeing Arnold's have high hopes, just for Lila to say she doesn't feel the same way 😰
@Ellande Campbell
But it is kind of annoying the way she would lead Arnold on. As a result, Arnold ended up getting his heart Arnold. Him of all people on the show didn't deserve that.
Sure she's nice, but her "perfect" nature is super unrealistic and annoying.

I was reading that in Hey Arnold history that creator says Lila has a well hidden dark side to her nice girl persona.
Oh wow, I guess it's confirmed now that she has a hidden dark side 😅. I had a feeling she did.
Well, she did force Helga to confess her love for Arnold in order to give her the role of Juliet (even though she already "had a funny feeling" that she liked him)
If she had a dark side would we ever have seen it in the series ?
well most super shy or super polite types like Lila have some hidden dark side to them. it just makes Lila look more realistic, but it was a kids show so it makes sense she never does anything to bad.
I think Lila might be even more of a girly-girl than Rhonda
Wait really?
Rhonda doesn’t look that girly
@@Kawaiiprincessbriana She starting to remind me of Amur from the big trip
@leahkent3915
Helga was fine with Lila until Arnold started liking her
i used to really dislike lila when i was younger. but after re-watching the show, i genuinely adored her. her kindness was genuine and she just wanted to befriend everyone.
i also admired how she was in tune with her feelings in the episode “arnold and lila”. she realized that she never really liked arnold and communicated that with him. she was always honest with him with her feelings and how she didn’t feel the same way. arnold was always so pushy when it comes to his crush on lila. it got so cringy at times.
She wasn't always honest. Here's an exchange from "Love & Cheese":
-Arnold: "But...there's hope, right?"
-Lila: "Yes Arnold, just ever so much"
@@ellandecampbell6279 but that’s her usual demeanor. she didn’t want to put him down after all of his efforts, and was simply being polite.
I hated her more.
I think it was simply because, due to Arnold "like liking" her, she was a potential foil to "Shortaki"
Good points Sarah! 😊 I agree, Lila's actions sometimes left Arnold or Helga feeling hurt, which was difficult to watch. At the same time, Lila seemed oblivious to the hurt she was causing, which made it easy to not like Lila.
More like because even when she finds out he does like her like her she rejects him but continues to lead him on
So she's supposed to love and forgive someone who encouraged others to torment her for no reason when she was already going through a hard time?
@@tommyettinger1353 my point is that Helga was a jerk, and Lila wasn't.
@Joey Baseball
Lila at least had a loving father who paid attention to her and spent Time with her.
I'm not saying she owes him, but I certainly wouldn't bother trying to win her over going forward
They also did miss out on making her a more interesting character. After her debut episode, she turned into a Mary Sue with a tiny hint of passive aggressiveness. They could have built on her Arnie thing by her showing interest in Wolfgang or some other douchebag character.
Love (or "like like", in this case) is blind
I agree that Arnold tried to win her over for too long. I think Lila could have been a more interesting character too, after the debut she was reduced to Arnold's love interest only.
I agree. It was lowkey painful to see Lila reject him over and over again.
At least Lila was a better love interest compared to Ruth!
True.
I totally agree with you
I knew a girl like Lila in my dance troupe in NYC. However, she flew into some of the most insane, violent, angry mood swings. Very Jekyll and Hyde dual personality.
Poor Lila... ;_;
True
For Lila, I have this Like and dislike for her. Besides the friend zoning Arnold thing, she seems like the girl who likes to play with another person's feelings if you get too attached to her. I'm sure she's not like that though when she's living in an small place. That's kind of the vibe she gives me after watching all the Hey Arnold episodes. Maybe it's the writers, or maybe it's me thinking the wrong things.
she didn’t really friend zone arnold, though. she made it clear to him from the start after she realized that she never really liked arnold. it was his job to get over it and respect her boundaries.
@@tori8009 Then why did she agree to go to the Cheese Festival knowing damn well Arnold isn't doing this as just friends?
@jessicarodriguez8990
That’s one of the very few episodes when I liked Lila and thought she was innocent. As the show progressed, her perfect flawless personality got a little annoying. I also didn’t like the way Lila appeared to be leading Arnold on when SHE is the one who started liking him first.
Female jealousy at full display. Lila had all the girls pressed just by smiling.
😅
Lila is better off with Stinky than Arnold.
I actually know of a real life town called Pleasantville. But unlike Lila’s Pleasantville, it’s not all country, it’s a little city like, it’s in southern New Jersey near Atlantic City.
Cool! I didn't know that 😊
Arnie is one of the greatest characters ever written.
He was a great one. I think he was pretty underrated.

I agree. Arnold was obsessed with the idea of her more than her.

I Find Ironic/Interesting 🤔 🧐 That This Episode Of Hey Arnold 🤠 Is Called Miss Perfect And While On Disney They Have An Episode Of Recess Named/Called Here Comes Mr Perfect Perhaps The Creators Of Hey Arnold 🤠 Should Have Named/Called There/Their Episode Of Hey Arnold 🤠 Here Come Mrs Perfect LOL 🤣😂
As for Helga's dream, seeing Lila totally ruined was key as well. Not only does she get Arnold, she has be pleasure of seeing her rival brought low and destroyed. It's complete victory.
I honestly couldn't stand Lila. The perfectionist thing was annoying.
At the end of the day. They're all 9 9years old. Tf does a 9 year old know about love anyway. Maybe i High-school there's a chance she'd see him in a greater light. But im 100% sure Arnold and Helga will have a special bond by that time. If craige decides to retcon the Pakati show.

Lila probably was on Prozac to cope with being Miss Perfect and friend zoning Arnold through the series
Tbh I still don’t like Lila ☹️ I feel bad for her when it concerns her background but her overall ‘sweet’ personality is too stale for me.
It could get boring fast
School play is my favorite episode. Has been for the last 20 years. I love this show.
I really liked this video. Great work! I hope you receive the success you desire
Thank you Vivian! I'm glad you like my work :)
Lila isn't just a pretty face She's very intelligent
I didn’t like her until it showed she wasn’t perfect
how can ı watch this ?
Hi Binnur! You can watch Hey Arnold for free on a free trial on Amazon, links are in the description box :)
4:14 - 4:17
Who else could of guessed that?…Besides us the audience constantly watching her stalk him relentlessly.
Lia
Lila had redder hair in her first appearance now its more reddish brown
As a redhead, age will do that.
I never liked Lila, like a mary sue
Lila was cute, but toxic as hell
Is this the only video of the week, or will there also be the normal Thursday video? Just curious
Yes, there will be a video on Thursday 😊.
