Romans 1 is the scripture I read a few months ago in my hospital bed when I was diagnosed with leukemia. I was "married" to another guy whom I thought I loved very much at the time. But I gave my life to Christ in that diagnosis, leaving my former partner behind, which was extremely difficult to do. God called me and I had to follow. God saved me!

I was sexually abused several times when I was too young and I have been fighthing with my homosexual feeling until now. But thanks be to God for renewing my heart and mind, for saving me from the pit of perdition. I just hope one day, that this unnatural desire will be gone and what left is my desire to honor and glorify Him. I no longer identify myself in the alphabet community but I now identify myself as the child of God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live now in the body, I lived by faith in the son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me - Galatians 2:20. In Christ, there is victory!
Praise God that you have been renewed. My encouragement would be to forgive those who abused you. Not to excuse them for what they did but to free yourself from the enemy's attack on your mind and heart. That person was deceived as well by the enemy and was likely abused themselves. We have all been deceived at one point and fallen short of the glory of God. We all need forgiveness, and prayer that God will set us free from the enemy, Satan. He comes to steal, kill and destroy, even your abuser, who then passed that on to you. Praise God that He set you free so that you did not in turn become an abuser yourself. Pray for your abuser that God will bring them to repentance and deliverance. We ALL need to be saved, forgiven and restored into a right relationship with our Heavenly Father. When we let go of our desire to 'hold them accountable', we release that burden into God's hands. May God bless you and keep you with His peace and wisdom.

That section where Piper stated that everyone is wired to certain sins and it is manifested in reponse to genetics, hormones, and environmental factors is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL for our being compassionate toward others who sin in ways that we don't understand, may never personally relate to, and that particularly disgust us for whatever reason, especially since in society and even among many immature, biblically unenlightened Christians certain sins are much more looked down upon than others meanwhile ALL sin is abominable and damnable to God. I don't know if scientifically there can be any evidence found to support that sinful preferences are within our very genes because while our hearts are changed in the new birth our DNA and physical bodies are not, which would make it impossible for us to have any amount of victory over sin until we get our new bodies, but maybe. However, understanding the pervasiveness and domination of our inborn sin nature makes the reality of everyone's helpless slavery to sin and our desperate need for God's sovereign act of the new birth in response to our exposure to the Gospel major in our minds. Homosexuals are wired with their attractions just like heterosexuals are wired to prefer being promiscuous and / or adulterous and selifish, abusive etc, rather than engaging in sex only within marriage and with generosity at the forefront of their mind rather than indulgence for their own physical, emotional pleasure and both are wrong and beyond the ability of any individual's will-power to overcome because Satan, not God's natural design, is behind it which is why we all need to be set free from every sort of sin. The error we all make in one area or another is that of concluding that since we are naturally wired with preferences and desires that we may not have necessarily chosen and cannot change then we can't be considered sinful for the inward inclination and wiring itself and we can't fairly be held accountable for simply choosing to indulge in what we naturally love. We literally have to stop desiring and acting against our own elusive, unreachable hearts to worship God but we didn't make ourselves and we can't change our hearts without changing who we essentially are! This is what makes repentance and faith UTTERLY MIRACULOUS and HOPELESSLY FOOLISH to those to whom God has not yet granted new birth, repentance, and faith. How is anyone to choose to prefer God and reject sin when they have always naturally preferred the more tangible and pervasive lure of various sins but have never had a divine encounter and experienced the superior delight of the manifest love and presence of God, which he himself has chosen to withhold?! Our only hope is that what is impossible with man is possible with God, and the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, saving, and by grace TRANSFORMING, everyone who is granted the faith to embrace Jesus as somehow irresistibly more precious than all they've ever known and couldn't freely stop desiring / loving previously in their life. WE MUST EVANGELIZE AND PRAY because our eternal souls are at stake and salvation is of God alone!

As a Christian who is same sex attracted, I do believe this to be truth, yet it is blurry where the Bible says Homosexual acts as in sex or even the feeling of love for someone who is the same sex, I would never be in a commited relationship with another woman, yet I deeply crave emotional connection and vulnerability which I do not have at church, with friends or family and it is my pain every day. I just wish someone who I deeply love, hugs me, takes my hand and supports me in diffult times. I am a very independent person, I do not need to be sourounded all the time, but from time to time, the craving for a partnership, is just too painful.

Honestly, if there's no sexual intercourse in heaven because earthly marriage is only an illustration of the spiritual beauty and non-erotic love of Jesus and other people in heaven, then what was the point in using erotic intimacy and beauty as the picture? Because even while we are on earth, we are capable of cultivating spiritual beauty and non-erotic love to give to others. We will not be naked in heaven because nakedness even in a sinless state is unrighteous, so why not use non-erotic love and spiritual beauty which is more like what will be in heaven? Our intimacy with other people in heaven will be brotherly and sisterly rather than husbandly and wifely, the men and women are not going to have romantic or erotic feelings for Jesus whether on earth or in heaven, and He is not going to have erotic feelings for the women of heaven either. If erotic love is an illustration of the love of Jesus, then shouldn't the love in heaven be even more erotic? Yet, it is only the non-erotic parts of marriage that will continue and become better. So why not just use the non-erotic parts of marriage, which you already are allowed to have outside of marriage with the same or opposite sex, as the illustration?
This subject is very controversial and the way Mr Piper explains how it is communicated to his audience is somewhat confusing. I'm wondering if he still believes in how he explained it here since he preached it back in 1998. For me, I take the meaning of scripture in it's whole entirety based on the words in those paragraphs and how the Bible portrays homosexuality and lesbianism. As we all know, God dealt harshly with it in condemning it in scripture and by destruction. But after Jesus came into the world to be the bridge back to salvation and a hope for everlasting life. All sinners, no matter who they were given the chance to convert to Christianity. God doesn't have to care how some people want to break down the differences of types of sin. A sin is a sin no matter how Mr. Piper tries to paint it for us. All sinners who search out the truth in the Bible and learn of our Father in Heaven and his Son Jesus Christ by the Holy spirit will have their eyes opened and their hearts and minds will be put to shame. Then and only then will they have the desire to do those things which must be done to start down that narrow path to follow Christ and share in the fruits of an everlasting life with our Father, Son and Holy spirit in the new earth and new Heaven.

Abortion was forced on all 50 states whether they wanted it or not. I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t get it out of my head that the most nascent, most innocent children could be killed without so much as an afterthought (although women, for the most part, do have afterthoughts, some debilitating). I tried to raise awareness among my friends. No one, it seemed, cared in the slightest. When I was a few years older, I started sidewalk counseling. I donated a van and a wood stove to a home for unwed moms. And I prayed. For 49 years I prayed. I saw politicians come and go who feigned being pro life but when push came to shove? Not so much. Then Donald Trump came along. I detested the man (and largely still do) but I held my nose and voted for him. I knew Hillary had nothing but love for Planned Parenthood, while PP spent millions to defeat Trump. Did they know something? Indeed they did. When Trump rolled back Obama’s funding of world abortions I could have done cartwheels. When he laid the groundwork for the overturn of Roe? I was amazed that God answered our prayers through such a gauche man, so unschooled in Washington protocols and niceties. To say I supported him in 2020 against the disaster that is Biden and Harris would be a huge understatement. I assumed that Piper would share my enthusiasm, if not for the man, certainly for his policies. He didn’t. He did everything in his power to dissuade his 2 million followers from voting for Trump. He called Trump supporters liars. He called them naive. He called them presumptuous. (Oh, and then said we could vote for whoever we wanted. How nice.) He made it sound that Trump was so horrible that he was the very cause for abortion! What did he think? Folks would go around humping like dogs because they were obligated to follow what Trump had done in younger years? And then abort the resultant child, because, well, Trump? Piper had been a prolife stalwart. He went to jail during one protest. Adopted a black child. He preached the most gut-wrenching, incentivizing prolife sermons I’d ever heard (I used to go to his church). I could not believe that Piper had become so woke he’d turn his back on the image bearers of God himself. Then many people started registering their disapproval. So did I. I naively figured Piper would see his grievous error and say he was sorry and everything would go back to normal. Piper has yet to apologize. Not to me, not to the church, and surely not to the babies that are now being aborted worldwide because of him. I started writing comments on every one of his social media outlets I could find. I thought, again naively, that I could catch his attention. No such luck. I begged him to meet with me (we only live 10 miles apart). I’m still doing it, and have made a vow to continue until he simply says, “I’m sorry.”
Only Jesus can help you getting out of your spinning thoughts. John Piper is NOT your enemy. Don't waste your weapons... Pray instead to God for insight. May God be gracious to you, i pray in Jesus' Name. Amen🙏🏽❤
Piper is wrong about a LOT of things, but he was right about Christians who supported Trump. There has been no greater harm done to the church and the gospel of Christ in the last decade than Christians with NO discernment supporting such an obvious fraud, liar, thief, bully and coward as Donald Trump. The support of Trump by so-called Christians has rendered it almost impossible for the gospel to reach unbelievers, at least in the US. We lost the moral high ground when most of "us" supported that shadow of the Anti-Christ.

There is a big difference between the true, eternal love from God and the lustful love of the world, which includes homosexuality . The true love is to love God , repent from our sins, and reborn as a child of God, not sticking to your old self.
The call to repentance for everyone is a call to battle love whether it's love for something God says they ought not love, love for something good but that's loved more than God, or love for something or someone too little when they should love it more. All of us have an innate inability to love properly and when it comes to loving God above all who we have not experienced and known sufficiently rather than loving things that are naturally more intetesting, tangible, and fulfilling it is impossible to turn away from them and worship God instead, especially when we are promised suffering and not immediate deliverance as a result. This is what makes repentance and faith a miraculous gift that has to be given to hearts that have been changed by the Holy Spirit in the new birth which happens to some when they hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For those yet to hear the Gospel and embrace Jesus, people who are saved must continue to pray and shine the light of Hesys through their lifestyle while sharing the truth in love so that God may save whom he wills which only he can do. (2 Timothy 2:24-26)

I assumed that Piper would share my enthusiasm, if not for the man, certainly for his policies. He didn’t. He did everything in his power to dissuade his 2 million followers from voting for Trump. He called Trump supporters liars. He called them naive. He called them presumptuous. (Oh, and then said we could vote for whoever we wanted. How nice.) He made it sound that Trump was so horrible that he was the very cause for abortion! What did he think? Folks would go around humping like dogs because they were obligated to follow what Trump had done in younger years? And then abort the resultant child, because, well, Trump?
Piper had been a prolife stalwart. He went to jail during one protest. Adopted a black child. He preached the most gut-wrenching, incentivizing prolife sermons I’d ever heard (I used to go to his church). I could not believe that Piper had become so woke he’d turn his back on the image bearers of God himself.
Then many people started registering their disapproval. So did I. I naively figured Piper would see his grievous error and say he was sorry and everything would go back to normal.
Piper has yet to apologize. Not to me, not to the church, and surely not to the babies that are now being aborted worldwide because of him.
I started writing comments on every one of his social media outlets I could find. I thought, again naively, that I could catch his attention. No such luck. I begged him to meet with me (we only live 10 miles apart).
I’m still doing it, and have made a vow to continue until he simply says, “I’m sorry.”
Only Jesus can help you getting out of your spinning thoughts. John Piper is NOT your enemy. Don't waste your weapons... Pray instead to God for insight. May God be gracious to you, i pray in Jesus' Name. Amen🙏🏽❤
Piper is wrong about a LOT of things, but he was right about Christians who supported Trump. There has been no greater harm done to the church and the gospel of Christ in the last decade than Christians with NO discernment supporting such an obvious fraud, liar, thief, bully and coward as Donald Trump. The support of Trump by so-called Christians has rendered it almost impossible for the gospel to reach unbelievers, at least in the US. We lost the moral high ground when most of "us" supported that shadow of the Anti-Christ.

Asking people to battle love is a big thing and that's where this sermon fails to me.
There is a big difference between the true, eternal love from God and the lustful love of the world, which includes homosexuality . The true love is to love God , repent from our sins, and reborn as a child of God, not sticking to your old self.
The call to repentance for everyone is a call to battle love whether it's love for something God says they ought not love, love for something good but that's loved more than God, or love for something or someone too little when they should love it more. All of us have an innate inability to love properly and when it comes to loving God above all who we have not experienced and known sufficiently rather than loving things that are naturally more intetesting, tangible, and fulfilling it is impossible to turn away from them and worship God instead, especially when we are promised suffering and not immediate deliverance as a result.
This is what makes repentance and faith a miraculous gift that has to be given to hearts that have been changed by the Holy Spirit in the new birth which happens to some when they hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For those yet to hear the Gospel and embrace Jesus, people who are saved must continue to pray and shine the light of Hesys through their lifestyle while sharing the truth in love so that God may save whom he wills which only he can do. (2 Timothy 2:24-26)
