It was a massive hit to extreme skiers around the world.. It was the soundtrack of one of the most epic ski movies of all time called the Blizzard of Ahhh's.
OMG, the sounds of the artists of ZTTRecords. I spent so much of my late teens and early 20s living the Colorado ski bum life. The magical movies of Greg Stump featured so many of these artists. The chords transport me to an intoxicating world of beauty, risk and thrills. My head swirls like a hot tub of nostalgia listening to this!
Don't never forget this title
+Barney Rubble This is kind of political...obviously against "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" with Robin Leach (sp?) and conspicuous consumption. As for art production values, I think the band had at least one art student as a driving force.
The "unstable economy" reference was probably a reference to the Thatcherite freeing of banking and the City of London which ended in the crash of 1987, and which set us up for the problems we have now. Quite prophetic, and a message we could have listened to.
This song is utterly excellent and simply perfect, a mix of clever lyrical sensibilities, pop and orchestra and a staggering production effort by Steve Lipson it is literally the whole "lexicon of love" album in 4 minutes and 34 seconds and it comes very highly recommended so have a listen!
I was 12 y.o. when this song was released. I heard it perhaps a couple of times only. But I never forgot it. The sound of it all, is just incredible. Fascinating. It is also quite a show seeing these two perform together for this song.
It was a massive hit to extreme skiers around the world.. It was the soundtrack of one of the most epic ski movies of all time called the Blizzard of Ahhh's.
I used to work in a video store in Aspen in 1987. Maltese Flamingo, Blizzard of AAAhs, The Good , the Rad and the Gnarly, Greg Stump changed my life. Yeah, I came to this page to reactivate that nugget of my old withered brain. I can envision every cliff jump, evey carved turn or powder run. Propaganda's "A Secret Wish" too. Just play it all on loop when I am a bedridden old corpse.
This song has a great message. And I love that very last shot of Thomas sitting alone in a darkened corner. It kind of sums up the whole point of the song. Especially these lyrics: "Come tomorrow, the dream might blow away, Guilt and sorrow, the price you have to pay."
I remember watching that. It was about how the voice could be electronically manipulated. I bought the record as a result. Her album Love and a Million Other things is brilliant.
One of the best tracks of the 80's imho. We now live in a time where technology gives music artists limitless possibilities, yet all I hear in the modern music scene are clone tracks in all genres. This was created with (albeit the top gear available at the time) nothing like the technology we have now. As the Orson Welles quote goes ... . The enemy of art is the absence of limitations.. . And as the great Alan Wilder says .. . Trevor Horn is a clever man. As for Claudia.. . Stunning woman with a great distinctive voice.
Había perdido la esperanza de encontrar esta canción después de bucarla durante años. Google y su búsqueda silbando la música ha hecho el milagro. Increíble.
You guys should check Thomas' solo album "From Sci-fi to Barfly", it's one of the most beautiful collection of songs I've ever heard in my life, especially the #2 track "Where've you gone", his voice is so hauntingly beautiful, a modern day crooner imo.
Must have had my head in the sand ............................... this is the first time I have seen the Video for this single, however as with most of the ZTT releases the edited 7" version is just a fraction of the full blown (& I guess the various extended mixes that were available). I only had the 12" extended "That's entertainment" Vinyl mix, which does give this song justice (believe me), until the Anthology CD set came out when other mixes appeared - Dated now by today's standard I feel, but still gets 5 stars from me nevertheless ! Pity they don't release power packed productions like this now days
Somewhere in my archive, I have a Tomorrow's World Special featuring Steve Lipson describing the production of this song. If I come across it, I will post it on UA-cam.
takes me back to my youth 17 met a girl who was on holiday in berwick upon tweed name was joanne butt beautiful girl she itroduced me to this song and its been one of my top 3 songs ever since top quality yeah
Good song and album (Laughter, Tears and Rage). It was really good to see the video - thanks! I have given it 5 stars, but I'm not sure it actually adds anything to the song. Much better than the videos of today though, most of which are nothing more than soft porn.
One if not the most underrated singles of the 80s. A true classic which deserved to be a massive hit
I agree
Yes 😁 😃 😄 😎 🍸
Indeed.
Absolutely!!!!!!! I just wanted to write the same thing - her angelic voice raises my mood and adrenaline
.😊
It was a massive hit to extreme skiers around the world.. It was the soundtrack of one of the most epic ski movies of all time called the Blizzard of Ahhh's.
Still watching (and dreaming ) in 2024
Me 57yo of course 💙
One of my favorite songs of all time. Used to dance to this all night in my youth. Now in my 50s.. Reliving my youth thru music.. Its magical
Truly magical tune
This should have been bigger, just such a marvelous sound and it doesn't age even in 2017 it knocks spots off of some of today's music.
Totally agree mate
She got something i really like :-) and still have it today... i think i may call it glamour, class, savoir faire... whatever... i love it!

Same here...
Glen Plake and The Blizzard of Ahhs. Great scene to this music.
Yes Andy. Cut my teeth watching that. Still amazing now despite the age.🎉
Still watching in 2017. That whole Act album is sooooo good.
Thomas Leer has talent to spare, Claudia Brücken has charisma to spare, for a moment they, together, were wonderful.
meraviglioso gioiello musicale dei anni 80
I love Claudia in everithing she does ... but this is a masterpiece
Marco Pasquali

Il problema è il tempo; ci vuole pazienza a sincronizzare sottotitoli con il cantato. Ci provo però ;)

Claudia is the best voice of the 80s ...
Yes
Not even close
Claudia - the Penelope Keith of pop. I was flabbergasted when this came out. Loved the album then and still do.

Da gibts nur LIEBEN... was 'n 80er Brett !
Thanks to Legendary ski film director Greg Stump I was introduced to ACT in the Blizzard of AAhhs
The videos were very good back in the 1980's. Very creative and they told a story.
I agree totally with you so please take me back to the 1980s!!!

Amazingly accurate song many years later.
Excellent !!!
Claudia could have owned my life if she had only asked for it back in 1989! hahahaha
Claudia has such a great and unique voice. Thanks to the ski movies of Greg Stump or I would never have heard of her/Propaganda or ACT.
Very good music. The longer remix (5:20 or something) is still better!
Congratulations, Claudia and Thomas!
