One of the greatest men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. We met in 1967 when I was a young Marine of 18 years old and he was broadcasting for the Yankees. He sort of took me under his wing. Stayed in c8ntact through the years. Kast saw him when he wax the Grand Marshall for the 2010 New York Veterans Day Parade. I proudly marched alongside his float. I will miss him and his guidance. REST IN PEACE, JERRY.
4:07pm on a beautiful sunny sunday afternoon.. the Padres need one out for the flag, and here comes Jody Davis. Nettles at third, tempy at short, wiggins at second Garvey behind the runner at first. A one hopper to Nettles - to Wiggins and the Padres have the National League pennant. Oh doctor, you can hang a star on that baby. Flan, your bad hop through Leon Durham's legs was awesome. Dick Williams and the Goose got inducted into the Hall today. '84 must've been a wonderful ride. Good job
I am not going to lie. I had to pull for the Giants. I still love Bochy and Flan. To all the Bochy haters who wanted him fired in SD. How does it feel? 2 rings later, does he still suck as a manager? Sorry. Had to fire one at the haters out there...Great tribute again. Go Padres.
What a beautiful song and tribute to the Colonel. WW2 and Korea Marine kicked butt for our country and represented the Yankees and Padres with class. I had the chance to meet him once at Padres Spring Training in Yuma in 1989-1990. I hoped for the chance to meet him and talk service with him. I never got the chance. I love and miss you Jerry. "Voice of the Padres" and voice of my dad and I "in dad's old car. Great Job Flan!! OH DOCTOR!!! YOU CAN HANG A STAR ON THAT BABY!!!!
Great job Flan!! Lots of love to the Colonel. Just sucks Jerry doesn't do many games on the radio. Especially road games, since I live close to Cincy now. I would love to meet him one more time. What a good man. Oh Doctor!! You can hang a star on Jerry!!!!
Thanks Flan…. “Radio in dad’s old car” all those afternoons/evenings listening on KFMB/KOGO with my dad in his old 71 Chrysler Newport. Now my dad is with the Colonel. RIP Gentlemen. To me you both hung the stars. #OhDoctor #HangAStar
My childhood. Went to my 1st Padres game in 67. Uncle Tom myself & Rodger. Stands at the “MURPH” we’re almost empty. You could bring your own beer. Can’t remember, but saw Gaylord Perry pitch two complete games.
Thanks for the beautiful tune Flan! It got the tears flowing not just for our beloved Jerry, but for Loren and the sweet San Diego memories that are fading all too fast.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I believe I can some up the core of the Colonel in two words: Semper Fidelis!
