Hi, I used one of these under the kitchen sink carcass to replace a isolation valve. Unfortunately at the bottom end of the integral ring not all the solder run through. It's allowing the water to pass ever so slightly and I don't want to take the risk of leaving like that. As it's on a raising main if I drain the system fully down, reheat the fitting and apply flux do reckon the solder will run down in the area that didn't come through?
I know I faced a similar incident where a radiator was leaking. After draining the several times I attempted to re-solder and flux but no joy. I had to physically remove the leaky joint, clean m and f, flux and reinsert only then it worked. I did this however on a unsoldered joint.
Yorkshire fittings are awesome. For years I'd put up with sitting around all day waiting for the plumber to show up as promised. I'd lose a day's pay and the guy wouldn't even have the courtesy to pick up the phone and let me know he'd bailed. Most plumbers will do this. Then I watched a UA-cam video and realized I didn't need a professional to take the thick end of a few hundred quid (on top of the obligatory wasted day/s). 15mm fittings are cheap as chips, easy to use, and you get to get on with your project and life without feeling like a mug.
Yes I've used these for years they're so convenient. I only use end feed if I have loads of joints to make as they're much cheaper (especially the bigger sizes) but the great thing about the yorkies is that the exact amount of solder has been put into them by a machine so you can't feed in too much or too little.
Believe
Thanks, because of this vid I've been able to relocate some central heating pipes myself rather than call a plumber.you've saved me a lot of money thanks chap!
I think these fittings look good
Thanks! You are awesome and funny. You've helped me a lot over the years as a home owner, trying to be a jack of all trades! Cheers!
Enjoyable, easy to understand. The usual great advice. They don't look as ugly as you think!
Thanks a million - needed just a bit assurance on capp fittings!... and lo and behold!
Brilliant, this guy has made me laugh 😁. Thank you for the upload, was looking for some soldering help and I have just Found it
Mate your videos are fab. They have really taught me so much. A++++
Simple enough you say BUT he soldered a yorkshire "tee"-what he forgot to say, was when soldering a "tee" all three pipes have to soldered at one time, otherwise the solder will run in all the outlets as the fitting gets hot!!
If you heat mainly the pipe you can solder one joint at a time but better to do all at once.
Great video as usual, enjoy your witty way with it.
Something I have often wondered about is. How do they get the solder into the fitting. Keep them coming.
Looks like you’ve had a plumber weekend out .Sniff sniffle ;)
Nice one, useful to know as screwfix don't have the fitting I need and B&Q only have these jobbies in stock!
thanks mate very helpful!
It might be lazy, but its neat abd tidy as hell
Hey ! What is the best plumbing Solder ( eg : Fernox, Boss , etc etc any other brands u can think of
I'm a belt and braces man I like to solder the edge of ring solder pipe too (just to be on the safe side .
Do you use Yorkshire fittings or normal fittings (without the solder ring) on a daily basis?
Alright bud. Is it possible to reheat and adjust a fitting? Basically I've soldered a 90 elbow. It doesn't quite sit right with trv so pipe is under tension and looks a bit shit! Can I just reheat it and rotate the fitting to where I want it?
Minging ? Compared to press fit!, or. push fit! 🤔
Look minging? If they work properly and they're buried in a cupboard somewhere do looks really matter? Honestly, they are a brilliant idea.
marvelous
Thanks dude! I hope this video helped you out!
Hi, great video. Have you made a video showing how to add a tee junction to an existing pipe? I have converted my loft and need to add 3 radiators to my existing heating system. I can't work out how you add a tee to an existing pipe.
Will add it to the list! Cheers, PP!
Which flux did you use?
But is this not problem to put solder straight to fire? I think better way is to heat up with fire then pull out the fire and then put solder on the pipe. Because when you put solder straight to fire, flux can trickle down on pipe and then get green. What's your opinion? sorry for my english
you remind me of a younger bradley walsh
pls share to me guide book for this process
I will say that those fittings have gotten me out of a very tight situation before, the scenario involving it being Sunday afternoon, with only two joints left to finish off the customer's shower pump, and running out of bloody solder!
Ha! Top work mate!
Is it necessary to use one of those wire brushes to clean inside the fitting?
Scouring pad or sandpaper will suffice
I'm with you on that these fittings aren't at all trustworthy and I can understand you putting some end feed, just in case. I wonder what happens if you overdo time/temperature and too much solder leaks out. Have you tried to test loss of solder, or joint weakness due to excess heat? However, these might be useful in those very closed spaces where you can't use both arms (or hands), in fact, we could call these "one hand fittings" or fittings for the one-armed plumber.
You are very helpful, I would have worked with you for free a couple hours a week if you were in South Yorkshire Rotherham or Sheffield or Barnsley or donny.
What happens if you heat up the other joints while soldering the one end? Can you compromise the other ends??? I live in the U.S. and i have never seen these fittings here. Are they only sold in the U.K.?
If you cant get them in the US, the only way is to order them from here but make sure they are compatable. When soldering these fittings, you always fit all the other pipe/pipes at the same time, otherwise, as you say the solder will run in all of them.
@@chris2323771 you haven’t answered the question
Looks aside, in what world is that less reliable than a normally soldered joint, let alone propress?
hello can i do this in HVAC?
+Khoys Salazar Yep but AC will be more silver solder brazing and oxy-acetilene (sp?)
didnt look like it caught the top left there :P
what is end feed????? is it the type of pipe, or something completely different??? will be super grateful if anyone can answer. cheers!
Endfeed is a solder fitting for copper pipe where it has no internal ring of solder and you must add solder to the fitting to make the pipe adhere to the fitting
@@noelbourke5101 thank you
How do i heat the joint without the other joint on the fitting melting.?? its driving me crazy
You don't, you make all connections at the same time.
So you didn't want to clean the fitting and the flux is full of cack??
Is the solder in these fittings lead-free?
Yes
You know that there is an even lazyer fitting out there...Think it's called push fit fitting.. Just plug and play.
Ive come across a method of jointing copper pipe called "just for copper" and its a kind of solvent weld type glue?! I think :/ Its WRAS approved I was wondering if you've come across it. Hold tight !!
Plumbers hate these because anyone can use these fittings...no "expertise" required....aka saving yourself a lot of money.
Jesus! You're so young 👍
@2.33 you say you 'always run a bit of endfeed into this to make sure' ?? Don't you mean you always run a bit of solder into it to make sure?
bob of cause he meant that you wet wipe
I don't know why they call them capillary fittings when any soldering of pipe & fittings is accomplished by capillary attraction .👷🏻

Regardless if it's water soliable flux you are not meant to flux the fitting it's Always the pipe and not the fitting
I want to share stainless steel press fittings with you all.
I sure did sell a lot of these to plumbers, but I guess they weren't _real_ plumbers. Bloody cowboys, pretending to have years or decades of business.
should never put flux on the fittings as it pushes flux into the pipe work and isnt good
