Make sure your 2nd rv is really your first. NEVER get sucked into payments for yiur first RV. Buy one on the cheap, figure out what you want/dont want, need/dont need, etc. Then your 2nd RV you know what you want and know what youre getting into.

@@michaelferguson9642 definitely the smarter option. So many people get into payments on an RV and find out they dont use it much, maybe its not enough space, maybe its too much. But its yours now sucka! Buy used, figure out if you like the lifestyle, the features, the options the space. Give it a couple years of use, then go buy new if you like.

Was out this week at Turkey Run SP. All the Hoosiers had 3/4 ton Diesel CC 4x4's pulling 32'-40' 5th wheels. All over payload capacity. Not one 1 ton SRW out of about a dozen rigs. Hoosiers are really confused.

Big Truck Little RV that’s funny or ironic I just saw the same thing. As I wouldn’t stereotype to just Hoosiers. Interesting enough I looked at the payload of one of the 2017 F-250s cuz I’m a Ford guy. It was a CC 4x4 lariat. Its payload was 1907lbs I was floored because my 2017 CC F-150 XLT which is the loaded with all options has a payload of 1933lbs. Obviously that big diesel can pull a house but it will run out of payload way before towing capacity.

Listen to JD he is a good guy. He does love to suggest a big truck always. Lol. I tow a 28 foot TT with my drw f450. Yes it’s overkill. But I also have never had a pulling maneuvering issue or a stopping issue. It in no way struggles or feels unsafe in emergency situations. I found over the many years of towing rv’s that I prefer lots of heavy slide outs over long trailers as the center mass helps prevent wind sway. I don’t know if your friend JD would be interested in one of those hybrids. They actually offer more living space for the box size. They really are not hard to setup now and would be great for young kids and even infants if you get a good floor plan.

Folks, towing a big 5th wheel, the Freightliner Sport Chassis at a minimum. The preferred truck, a single axle Volvo. Reason. SAFETY!!! In an emergency maneuver, needing to stop quickly without the trailer trying to pass you, yeah safety.
You will not need a CDL as your truck will be registered as an RV.
Requirements for an RV registration, refrigerator, microwave oven, most are already equipped with or easy to obtain. Shore power is a plus as well. Get a high rear end gear ratio. I'd want to run 1,400 rpm at 75 mph. Of course you won't be running 75 mph all the time, and everywhere. Fuel mileage, and that big block Detroit Diesel will love operating in all that torque of the lower rpm.

All kidding aside (6:00 to 7:30) some other things you need to keep in mind when calculating your GVWR is not only your clothes & dishes as you mentioned Brian but literally _everything_ like bedding, small appliances, pots/pans, fully loaded cabinets of *food* including the stocked-up refrigerator/freezer, camping gear (chairs, charcoal, etc), a generator (if not pre-equipped & choose add one) & perhaps a few of the *_heaviest_* items, that people often forget about, are your *TANKS!!!!* (fresh water, gray water, & black water/waste tanks).... & don’t forget your propane tanks as well.
P.S... *YES!* that _IS_ in fact 💯 permission from the wife! 👍👍

      @Erin-Thor 3 роки тому

Not always true... owned a 23FB for over 4 years. Great trailer I thought... until my foot went through the floorboards near the bedroom window. Turns out their strength is their greatest liability too. Airstreams are much more airtight than most. In colder environments as we humans breathe, cook and shower that makes for window condensation, that flows down into the plywood subfloor. Cost to repair was over $20,000. I was going to buy another when I found out Airstream knew about the issue, but it only affected a few customers after warranty they ignored it. They use mold resistant plywood (intended for kit/bathrooms) at the entrance and shower lip though. They saved $50 per unit knowing some customers would have more than $20k in repairs.

BTBRV a quick note for you.....
At about 7 min in you start talking about weights, for gvwr, etc.
I know you have other videos specifying what these mean, but since this video is titled for first time RV buyers as your target audience for this video,
I would definitely recommend that either in the description or as a pinned comment you add links to the videos you have that detail what these specifically mean.
New buyers, especially people who might be new to your channel might not fully understand what these different weight specification mean.
Those like me who've been following you for a while have an understanding, but for newbies it might help to mention that those details are in the description for videos detailing the specifics.
Understandable that over time it's easy to assume that all the viewers know what your talking about, but when you have videos targeting new RV buyers its good info to add.
Maybe a good future video reference would be to mention links in the description for those who don't quite understand the difference in weights.
Love the info. Thanks for sharing.
