As someone who is starting 3d animation after being inspired by animators such as Redmoa (😇), I had to pause the video to say THANK YOU for explicitly pointing out how long "hand-keyed" animation takes. I was on the verge of giving up, because I thought: _"It's taking me 5 minutes just to get one finger flexed properly. Surely the pros I admire never take this long!"_ It's actually kinda reassuring to know that it takes a long time for everyone who hand-keys. Now I know why most amateur animators only release one video per month lol. You've inspired me to keep trying! 👍
When I finish this I'm going to come back here to this video and let you and everyone know that "I made it" and can animate for a job/gig. A life long skill that will help me reach my life goal to animate in 3D.
When using Blender, it is important to change the hotkeys to avoid strain on your hands after prolonged use. My suggestion is to use the QWER keys for common functions, copy and paste poses (assigned to F and G, respectively), and the V key to insert keyframes. I recommend changing the Y-axis to the C key, as you will likely use these functions frequently.
I'm new to animation, and I'm new to using Blender, period. I'm only 2:20 minutes into this video, and I must say, so far, "comprehensive" is an understatement in describing what I've seen so far! And you have 15 total videos in this tutorial series? DUDE!
I've been watching tutorials for a year now on a variety of tool and topics. This is the first time I've ever made a comment. Reason? This is the best tutorial series I have EVER watched and felt obligated to call this out. Great material, explanation, detail, editing. Serious quality and value. Thank you, Crash!
have dreamed to learn animation for fun for over 5 years, but due to lack hardware in the pc and money to found a decent one i have not been able to do that. Now the table have turned and i have a new computer rdy for animation on the way home to me! I CANT WAIT TO START THIS!!!
ALSO BEFORE STARTING! I'd recommend using Blender 3.6 when following these tutorials. The model he uses in future tutorials doesnt work and some keybinds have been changed in blender 4.2 which can be confusing. And apparently it runs just a tad smoother. Also blender 3.6 is one of blenders "Long Term Support" versions so it'll keep getting bug fixes for a bit longer than other versions even though its not the most recent version. Most of the features in 4.2 arent going to really affect you as a beginner I'd imagine (I dont know cuz Im also one) but that trade off is worth it in my eyes.
Had blender for months but i didnt use it after making donut, cuz i dont feel like it. Recently I watch tutorial on how to add bone and i came across your channel. And your video are pretty fun to watch and i love it. Keep up your great work!
About the university... Well, I tried to start blender for years, I did my donut, many times (yeah the very first tutorial that guy did on the donut), and even started following a 2nd tutorial sometimes, but I always ended up forgetting about it and not practicing anymore, like, you do a thing everyday, doesn't matter for how long, even for 15 min a day, is still useful, but then, you skip a day, no big deal you do it the next day, but the next week you skip 3 days, and so on and you always forget... what University did for me, was that it gave me homework, and believe me, that IS useful, because you have to get this thing done by the next month or you get a bad grade on that delivery, and I just had to do it, that is what I needed to finally start with Blender, and yeah... it also helps to have a teacher there even if it is as in my case, once a week (continuous 4h) but still, is nice to have a teacher answering your most weird questions that you can not find in any forum, or solve a problem that apparently no one had in the entire history of internet.
Just wanting to do some animation for fun and came across these and was not expecting to see the the local college MATC shown on here. Hello also from Madison! :3
I tried getting blender but it said I need to buy it, and am broke, but I thought you said it was for free so idk, I tried other website s but I needed to buy it as well, any other choice that I don't need to buy or log into it with my Google account? Please let me know if there is a website that's free and don't need to log in with Google or any other accounts.
