Never was a fan of metal....until I discovered Savatage tonight. Been listening for hours, reading band history, watching interviews with Jon and Criss. Now I can't get enough! I am gonna buy every album. I have already shared Believe on Facebook hoping to get my friends to discover this incredible music, if they have not already!
My favorite Savatage era. Love the later rock opera stuff too but there's nothing else like the first 5 albums. Very raw, moody, and nightmarish at times even, I love it.
Such an incredible song. Even though it took me twenty-five years to hear this song for the first time. It is my favorite solo by Criss. Rest In Peace Criss. I'll see you in Heaven.
The reissue cd of Sirens and Dungeons Are Calling has amazing sound quality. Remastered by Jon Oliva himself and highly recommended for fans of early Savatage like myself
This is BY FAR my favorite song from Savatage. I've been listening to it for over 10 years, but sadly, it isn't available on Spotify and I can't find THIS version of the damned album to buy here in Brazil.
Still listening 4 years later! I remember being close to about 10 years old and hearing Savatage on headbangers ball for the first time. It blew my fucking mind. Still does!
@MAJIN Actually, I believe the reissued Dungeons bonus tracks were recorded during the Gutter Ballet sessions (which would understandably be difficult to believe due to the direction Savatage started to take). So, like 1989 or so. "Thundersteel" dates back to 1985, if I recall correctly. Mark Reale disbanded Riot for a few years, and during that time, he had a short-lived band called "Narita" (where the original version of "Thundersteel" was written and recorded).
There's a rumor that Megadeth once tried to recruit Criss Oliva as the lead guitarist. Although Dave Mustaine denied that rumor, i can only imagine what it could have been. I mean just listen to this fine piece of old school Thrash Metal/speed metal from savatage, the guitar duel between Mustaine and Oliva would have been a powerful attack on our senses.

Drums are great
They are so good 👍
From the "Gutter Ballet" sessions. Should have been on the album along with the other ones left off and released later after Criss was killed
Virtually Savatage's "Thundersteel." This definitely should have been officially released with better production.
Production is ass kicking

The drummer is very good at it, I need to learn to play like that as well
WTF man why this song wasnt released before criss death!!

In a guitar duel with Criss, Mustaine surely would have had no chance ;)
Chris sounds like he was sweep picking in that solo , that's wayyyyy before amyone else was !
@dokkcrue71 Ironic as hell, Drive and R.I.P. Criss. xD
