@J M Audio has diminishing returns, custom built keyboards are used more and are a MAJOR difference from even other high end prebuilts. I would recommend a tofu 60% from kbdfans as a starter board.
Have been using my Raise since January, absolutely no issues. And for this price, it looks great, is sturdy and uses type c cables. I just wish it would also be wireless :)
The tent is finally out and actually changes how it feels even at a slight angle and feels super comfy. Switching the keys to Gateron CJs also makes a smooth typing and good gaming experience too.
I'll be getting my in the June production run. So excited to see your vid and hear that you like and approve. A few things though. The Dygma blog states they are developing a leg/raise that will fit current models and be available for purchase, so buying now it still a good thing. You also mention this is on the expensive side. In my research, this is either on par, or slightly less than other popular ergo split keyboards. And at the time of my pre-order, there was a discount. And, important to me as an armchair gamer, each side of the Raise is independent of the other because of how the Neuron is designed, unlike certain other major ergo split keyboards. The Raise also ships with sample switches and "other" goodies not defined. Yep, saying it again, excited!
Meechanics. I just realized itd be funny if u had one hand used to hitting a key on the other side. Kb is split and u go for the key and just hit table. I used to type the same way. Been getting decent at touch typing, still need more speed and acc, but its quite satisfying
Dimitri, I bow in front of you, because: 01.the way you prepare all your videos 02.the small details aranged around your scenes 03.the angle of filming, the composition 04.the plants 05.the balance sound (rms) around different sources 06.the music background choice 07.the video quality and the way you bring colour to your videos. Soon my weeding is coming. Can you come filming my weeding :))
If you're wanting to review other split keyboards, I highly recommend Kinesis Gaming keyboards. I type for >10 hours a day + a few gaming, and I haven't found any keyboard that comes close. Mechanical switches. Can split to any angle to however my wrists line up. Can tent the keyboards so that it perfectly aligns to my hands. And if folks need RGB they have that too :)
As somebody that also has a perfect left hand, but only uses 1/2 fingers on my right hand and is considering this, it’s comforting to hear you’re getting used to it after only two weeks. Was worried I’d never adapt my right hand to type properly, even after forcing a split.
I'm not sure why you're not already as big as LTT or Bitwit. You're one of my favourite youtube channels and you don't trade production quality for posting rate and I appreciate the almost daily posts.
Came across your reply as I was looking for the other mousepad he showed at the beginning lol! The one you guys are looking for is the Xtrfy GP1 Grayhound Tropical.
As someone with a Avg WPM of 160, to get good/fast at touch typing, you just need to force yourself to use all your fingers. start as slowly as you need to remain accurate. over the course of a month, you should see your speed improving greatly. over the course of a year you should be at 120.
DAMN 160??? ha i would love to see what that looks like. I'm feeling embarrassed by my ~80 lol ... I have been practicing more and more with touch typing but just can't get passed my "gamer" hand configuration where i use my left pinky to find shift and navigate that way, instead of using F for my point finger. Any advice on how to move away from this "gamer" typing setup? -D.
Nice keyboard, I like it, but what will be the "gaming" feature here? Today it's just silly how they use that word everywhere even if it has nothing to do with -_-
The thumb buttons is a really innovative feature for a keyboard of the standard layout. The thumbs are the strongest...digits and it's underutilized. It would be better if it is less staggared though. The kinesis freestyle is an alternative if you want a good split keyboard.
I love that the split is modular. Otherwise I would have been really worried about the attached cable breaking, but wit hthat you could replace it. I might get one of these when they do angle adjustment.
This looks pretty decent and right up my alley. I've been using an ErgoDox EZ for years now so I know I would feel right at home. My only issue is the ErgoDox is an ortholinear layout so going back to a staggered layout after all these years might be a bit of a nuisance at first. I might order one and give it a shot.
Very good video! BTW, you should be able to separate the keyboard halves without the wiggle if you hold it from the main body instead of the palm rests.
What are the hotswap sockets? Are they kailh sockets? Can the case be disassembled? Personally I think the proper way to install switches into a hotswap board is to be able to support the sockets from below; otherwise, you're eventually going to break the sockets.
It's surprising to me how many UA-camrs do not touch type. Considering how much time they must spend on their computers, learning how to do that would probably save them so much time.
True. But my finger memory is already so set for the "gamer" hand setup it's been very difficult to re-train. I'm getting there, but verrrryy slowly. Now even not really sure it's worth it as when i start to type at my usual hand coordination, it feels so much more natural and faster. -D.
Hey Dmitry, I'm Dmitri and I have a quick question for you kind of unrelated to the video but past ones that I've been watching for gaming headphones, and I'm kind of split between the Sennheiser PC37X and SteelSeries Arctis Pro w/GameDAC. The dilemma I'm having is between the Sennheiser's audio performance in comparison to the Arctis but I don't know the audio profile because I like a little extra bass or power behind the sound because I fly a LOT of DCS World Military Flight Sim and occasionally play EFT along with some other games, I like the microphone quality of both of them but when I was watching your review on the Arctis Pro with GameDAC I had a hard time understanding your performance analysis on both headphones, in making a decision on buying either pair, you have me sold on both of them but, I don't know what to buy to meet my liking. Which would you purchase if it was your money/decision given the parameters?
Glad that 60% and split keyboard are becoming more popular. That said, $300 is too much. There are plenty of other prebuilt options for less, and the Ergodox EZ (which is far more ergonomic) is cheaper. Hotswap is nice though.
For those complaining about how expensive it is. Joke's on you, I backed it on Kickstarter back in December 2017 and got 30 or 40% off can't remember. Of course, I had to wait 2 years to get it, but it's well worth it. Can't wait for more updates to the configurator software to further improve my gaming and work layouts. Build quality is excellent! I had a Corsair K95 RGB before, and this is so much better it's not even funny.
I've been using Microsoft split keyboards for over 20 years. I don't think I could switch over to a split keyboard like this. Especially with tiny space bar.
I even keep an eye out for new old stock of the Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro (what I've been typing on since 1999). It's still going strong but I'd like to have a backup, just in case.
The price though. For $269 you can custom build an acrylic Alice layout keyboard with lubed switches and a more ergonomic layout. One of the few cases where custom keyboards are cheaper.
This looks like the kind of keyboard I'd love to try for my office: I've used tons of TKLs and 60% keyboards from lots of manufacturers (currently using a CM MK730 TKL with blue switches) and none of them fits my needs, my problem is my Wacom Cintiq Pro, it's massive and it sits right between my keyboard and my mouse because that's the easiest way to use it with a multi monitor setup, but I'm very small/short so it's very difficult to reach my keyboard and mouse at the same time. I'd like to try setting each side of this keyboard to both sides of the Cintiq, that would help me a lot. the only things I really don't like are the color (my entire setup is matte black/brushed aluminum) and those weird wrist rests.
Just a little feedback here. Personally I think there is way too much saturation in the shots with your hands. There is a huge difference compared to the shots where the camera is pointed at your face. I prefer more natural colours. Cheers!
love my dygma raise. since i have reduced usability of my right hand, ive mapped a lot to the left side of the board. typing is more comfortable and faster
I have a secondary layer mapped with f keys, arrow keys and num pad. I don't use them often enough for it to be any real inconvenience, you might feel differently about it though. Definitely set up an alternate layer if you haven't already
You saying that you only use 2 fingers on the right side also brings up some remarks about the QWERTY layout. Your left hand covers ASDF+G while your right hand only covers H+JKL. This is something I never understood. I'm from Belgium and here we use the Belgian AZERTY layout and we have QSDF+G and H+JKLM. It has the M under the little finger. It is just weird why on QWERTY the don't place a letter on all the resting spots for your right hand (in this case the little finger). Let's be real, the letter M is more commonly used than a colon or a semicolon... (But also A, Z, Q and W are on a different spot compared to QWERTY so yeah...) I never understood different layouts for the same alphabet. Ok, we sometimes need letters like é, è, à, ... but that is no reason to move A, Z, Q, W and M... (How is it in Canada?) (I want to switch to QWERTY because still some games or mods or whatever don't think about other layouts. Apparently QWERTY is also better for programming... But it will take time to get used to and this is what (for now) is stopping me from switching.)
I highly doubt if they designed this for touch typing, because the number 6 key which you should hit with index finger of right hand, is located on the left half. I mean if you're really talking about technique, this one won't help.
I just use a full keyboard and angle it inside with a comfortable distance in lime with my shoulders. Also I may use the edge of my desk to rest my forearm and keep my wrists up and straight
Interesting idea except we actually use our left hand to type more than our right hand. At least from a study I read, maybe just for right handers. I can type 130wpm+ and I know my left hand does more, so splitting this up (like those old ergo keyboards) would feel awful for me at least. I also am on photoshop a lot, or just any program that requires my right hand to be on the house, and so splitting the keyboard wouldn't make sense for my left hand to get more of the keys. I guess you don't have to split the keyboard but then there's no reason for it. Also where is the 10 key? Is this a lost art? Learning to do 10 key is great and you don't need to be an accountant to make use of it. You run your own business you need to have numbers inputted like in your accounting software... I code and if there's ever numbers needed I can reach the 10 key from my mouse without breaking stride. It's so good to know and to be able to do fast. I learned in high school when I could already type fast and it was like going back to square 1 it felt really awkward. But once I got the hang of it, it's been great using daily

So, when is the review for the Logitech G915 TKL coming? :3
Not worth it. Check JayzTwoCentz vid
Could you make a review for Alienware's 510K low-profile keyboard?
Can u use this keyboard for ipad pro?
no. ipad's arent compatible with this keyboard unless you use a adaptor. also its $319.99 to up to $379.99 US dollars you should probably save up for a laptop or pc rather than use this keyboard on a Ipad. unless you already have a laptop or Pc, i still wouldnt recomend it for a Ipad
