I still wish the microsoft ergonomic keyboard had mechanical switches
this
Heck yeah. It's closest to a regular ansi layout and still feels great.
Should put silent switch on it somehow. And its due for update too
Agree, my daily keyboard is microsoft ergonomic keyboard from 1998, and i love it.
Moved from Microsoft's Comfort Curve keyboards to the Natural 4000 and couldn't be happier. Mechanical switches would be interesting, though.

Dygma means Παράγειγμα (example in Greek). In the page they say it's Spanish although it is not. Just a borrowed word.

I ordered mine literally just hours before this video came out. I'm even more convinced it was the right purchase. Thanks James!
You're welcome, Felipe!
got one sitting in front of me now :) it's a nice bit of kit, feels far more premium than my previous mainstream mech boards. i kinda miss the f and arrow keys sometimes, but i have them mapped to separate layers. It's a bit wasted on me tbh since i can't touch type, but the extra thumb keys and ability to use it as a one handed gamepad make it worthwhile for me. my only complaint is that i'd like to see them offer kailh pro switches, i have the copper speed switches in mine and they're just a little too light and fast for my liking, i plan to pick up some pro purples and swap them out.
I’ve had mine for a few months! The hot swap stuff is nice but I ended up swapping the entire thing out for choc switches to keep a low profile. Default keymap is a lil wonky but it’s remappable. Construction is good and it holds up mostly well. The way it fits together isn’t as solid as I would like. A post fits into a channel and it seems to rattle a bit. Other than that I dyg it
I ordered mine a few months ago. Understandably, things might have changed, but, after seeing an advertised 4-6 weeks or something, I ended up getting mine in a little over a week. Fingers crossed you'll get yours soon!

The switches are already $1-$7(or more) each then you'll need keycaps, backplate, PCB, LEDs, cable, 2x arduino ($18 ea), soldering iron and some miscellaneous stuff.
You're definitely not gonna buy one if it isn't that much necessary..
@@RedFenceAnime the gateron switches are $0.20 each and the most expensive zeal switches are $1.20. The only way you're spending $7 a switch is if it's vintage or discontinued.
I really like that you took the time to educate the watchers (myself included) on the difference between the different wrist and hand positions regarding ergonomics. I thought I knew about this, but the way you explained it was a lot more simple than other videos I've watched.
"Ergonomic gaming keyboard"
Ah, goes together like oil and water.
best comparison i've ever seen
FalbaTech Redox Gamepad , you're welcome.
(SUMMARY: *IN SHORT, FalbaTech Redox Gamepad IS AN ERGONOMICAL GAMING KEYBOARD.* )
I've heavily considered it (there's ErgoDox and Redox variants, I'm going to talk about Redox as that has my interest) for Elite: Dangerous as it's the best 1 handed "Gaming Keyboard" there is.
Short review:
Logitech G13 , 22 keys, a tiny hat, an LCD screen, not-detachable wrist wrest.
Razer Orbweaver: just no. Overpriced, uncomfortable and weird wrist rest situation (also non detachable) Razer Synapse, no thank you, just like the Logitech, they are programmable as in... Yeah, you want to ADD keys to your 104-key keyboard? too bad. (Since the FalbaTech Redox used QMK you can add F13-F24 and other stuff to ACTUALLY add keys) lastly, it has no LCD screen (game stats, news, PC usage was shown on the G13) , it only has 20 finger buttons, Razer claims 30, the Orbweaver has a 2 thumb buttons around the joystick just like Logitech did, that's 22 (the same amount as finger buttons in G13) and then the last 8 are a joystick. Razer is a joke in terms of headsets, Naga, Orbweaver, keyboard quality, the Kailh switch quality problems they had, Synapse, etc.
..
A bit longer than expected, sorry.
But the very short of it:
FalbaTech Redox: Cherry MX switches with a good variety to choose from, it can be programmed with QMK meaning you add buttons to your setup, it has more buttons than the other options, it can be left OR right handed, the only saving grace for Razer is they once made a Left-handed Naga, but they never made a right handed Orbweaver? That would be the best bundle/combo to buy, even with the mentioned issues, *IN SHORT, FalbaTech Redox Gamepad IS AN ERGONOMICAL GAMING KEYBOARD.*
So like Margarine?

This video helped me with my Design Technology CourseWork. That may sound weird, but learning about the bones above the wrist and in the arm and what is the best form of comfort for a user helped me design my product. Thank you to the anthropometric geek for saving me! This otherwise would have taken a lot longer to find out!
Oh nice I've been waiting for so long for you guys to cover this keyboard, I got mine from the kickstarter and I love it, its so comfortable to use.
Thanks for the explanations of the terms like pronation and things. I really appreciate that.
As a health professional I was quite impressed with the way he delivered it. I'm thinking he took some biology courses at some stage in the past (or more, heck Yvonne is a pharmacist...) it was really smooth and seemed to be personal knowledge, not reading from a script.
Been having wrist issues for the past few months that have only gotten worse this last month. I also work from home, so I'm overhauling my setup. I'm going to start to wear a brace while I work, which makes typing difficult on a normal keyboard. So I just ordered this one! Hope it works well. Also bought new legs for my desk that sit an inch lower so my keyboard sits at a better height too. And I got that vertical mouse you guys covered a while back specifically for work time, and I'll switch back to my normal mouse when gaming. So thanks for the coverage! It definitely influenced what I bought.
SUCH A COOL VIDEO! I love split keyboards so much, you guys should seriously check out more of them!
I have been looking for an gaming ergonomic keyboard. Thank you for the video
"idk what the additional switches are for"

Ok, I don't normally comment. This is one of Jame's best videos and I've been watching LTT for a very very long time. He clearly knows his subject matter very well and was able to educate me a lot on what the various different types of strain are and he wasn't cocky about it, he just knew and shared that information in a way that didn't make you feel like an idiot for not knowing what pronation was.
Please get James to do more videos on the subjects of RSI and Carpal tunnel and the importance of positioning and all the terms. Loved the video, not for the product but James knowledge.
Thanks for the ergo info, I learned a lot from that.
Thanks a lot for the explanation of the various ergonomic issues - helped me identify the issue I have.

Great keyboard. Just listed my Raise with Speed Silver switches on Ebay if anyone is looking for a good deal. I'm upgrading to their wireless keyboard.
Backed this and have been using it for over 5 months. Never going back.
I have this keyboard and after the initial weirdness of using a split (and smaller form factor) keyboard for the first time I honestly can't see myself going back to a regular keyboard pretty much ever.
I run mine fully split as I'm mainly using it for gaming so I have a huge amount of mouse space, then the other half way off to the right-hand side (I changed the cable from the neuron to the right side for extra distance) that I primarily use as a macro pad for hotkeys in OBS.
Additionally I changed out the keys I got with it for some super light Gateron Clears. I never want to not use this keyboard again, but I'm looking forward to seeing if the tenting makes this even more comfortable to use.

@@GegePandhega OP comment. Kudos.
I love my Raise! My wife actually convinced me to get it after she saw me checking it out. You really need to get the customization software Bazecor and keep experimenting.
For people with a regular keyboard that have to hit enter all the time, you can use the Enter key on the numpad easily with your mouse hand without removing your hand from the mouse by just whacking the numpad-Enter with your thumb while it's still on the mouse. I've been doing it for years and it's so much easier than moving your other hand off the home row.
What did James say to Linus?

A good use that I see for split gaming keyboards is for people who like driving games. Imagine taking the left half of this keyboard and putting it to the side of a driving wheel, a mouse on the other side, and then playing GTA with the setup, for example.
Such a good first look.
I want you all to each make your "perfect keyboard" either working, or a mockup. I am sure someones would be 300 key keyboard
Dygma Raise??? More like 'raise ma dig!!' hahaha ha haa I'm funny. 😅
really enjoying keyboard videos.
IK im 3 years late, but the layers is where this keyboard really shines. I use the layers to use the F keys, arrow keys, delete, home, and every other key it doesn't have, and its more convenient than a normal keyboard.
also they have tenting kits now, and they even have a new model coming out with an ortho layout
Funnily enough, I got my new keyboard the same hour this video released.
Not the same one tho :c
This is one of the first ergo keyboards that I actually like enough to be interested in but... not for $269, way too much. I could do $150, maybe even $200 but $270 is a bit much.
I think that is a steal for an ergo keyboard. These go for so small audience that there is no way you don't have to pay 100 extra. (under $200 and you need to make sacrifice on build and software quality)
It is expensive but you can really feel where the money is going - braided USB cables, so much metal in the construction, really even backlighting, nice transport case and branded accessories etc... and really good customer support.
First time watching a ShortCircuit video so early, fantastic video!
@DEMONIC TRINITY Yep, I got a little confused with the names XD, corrected it pretty early thankfully!
I've never really been big on the split keyboards, considering I dont necessarily type conventionally, but I actually really like this one.
The keyboard also splits my wallet in half
For the price, I feel there should come two sets of cables that go between the neuron and keyboard, the one that they do ship, and one set quite a bit longer.
@@00O3O1B The included cables are the highest quality I've ever seen without going to dumb gimmicks like gold plating. Metal connectors, then thick plastic sleeve, then braided shielding. Very high-end cables and they're more flexible than those all-metal cables Energiser sells at the gas station for like $30.
i love when james do theses kind of reviews, it fits him so well ahaha
I keep being more interested in theses kinds of keyboards but i guess there's no azerty layout :(
This was a really good video. Have you guys thought about doing an updated version?
Had me until no function keys, why do most keyboards leave them out!
Brendon B nah just hold Caps Lock + respective number keys for the f-keys, it’s a one-handed operation and really easy to get used to, so basically no different from typing the parentheses or the double quotes

tHIS DUDE LIKE A DUOCTER HE KNOWS LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT ARMS AND HAND AND YEAH!
Split keyboards are nothing new...
Edit: the title acts like it's a rad new thing.
"This keyboard splits in *HALF* !!!" is the title before it is changed (LTT changes after 1 or 2 hours after release) so while James did not explicitly say it, the title acts like and implies it's a crazy new exciting thing.
Don't think he claimed they were...
Good thing he never said they were................
I currently have a matias ergo pro in my work and I almost bought this and the deal braker was there was no tenting. Also this is kinda a 60% layout and I'm not a fan of it but their software looks pretty good to make it useable to restore function keys, arrow keys and the home/del/pg updn buttons
I got a lot of respect for companies that focus on ergonomics, sounds very very hard to design something to be a perfect one size fits all whilst staying very natural and comfortable for all users
This keyboard looks dumb
Been following this keyboard for a while, you can see the progress of them developing it on their youtube channel. They are very open about their process and really want to make an enthusiast keyboard for real users and gamers.
