There are lots of so called "fans" in probably every community, the rude people that seem to only want to harass and insult people because of practically anything, my philosophy is haters gotta hate cause it's what gives them some joy in their miserable existence, and if you have haters and toxic people insulting you, then you are doing something right and never take what they say to heart but know that you are giving them some joy by giving them something they will complain about, some people complain just to complain, but even haters should have some etiquette and not dox people unless they are also willing to be doxxed themselves.

This seems to be a trend that is only getting worse - people are being taught to not treat people that worked in the creative sector (especially freelancers) with respect. Ironically, these people are making demands on people that they don't considered to be working a "real job."

WW is more than just p0rn. It adds so much more. Turbo also have the SFW verision that also quite popular. Its a great mod! And Turbo deserves all the love and support, and a nice vacation.. :)

That’s true, tbh it started with overly critical players giving EA all their money and then dragging them, as if they didn’t know what they were getting iykyk and subsequently opened doors for other immature players to criticize mod creators as if they were EA. A lot of people here are at fault but I’m not going to point any fingers.
They said I was transphobic for wanting a mod that brings back husband/wife in game. They are the same ones who say people should be allowed to pick what they want to be called, but the moment my male trans sim likes being called husband more than spouse. They wanna throw a fit. @@TaheishaLake Just because consumers are able to just not buy something doesn't make it ethical for a major corporation like EA to continually sell broken games and expansions. The fact that the wedding pack alone didn't trigger a class action suit is almost surprising. People paid for an expansion that was so broken that you could argue that it objectively made the game worse. And this has been happening on repeat with so many different DLCs.

About that doxxed creator and their mods... I'm actually one of the guys who troubleshot and found a temporary fix to make it workable until the next update, and I shared it online. And... almost nobody saw it because they were too busy arguing about how outrageous it was that this creator dared to take a vacation in the middle of July and couldn't update in one or two days :') I'm a developer and an experienced modder for other games, and it was my first shot at getting into the Sims community. It will be the last. Not gonna tryna blend into such toxic, spiteful and entitled crybabies.
Thank you for what you're doing (including the occasional stuff you and many others have to deal with) it's easy to say to just ignore them, much easier said than done, but know that those ppl will always exist and therefore it's kind of expected to hear uncreative bad faith takes once in a while, but the people who aren't like this (usually the silent majority) really appreciates it

In other games' modding scene, if the mod is not up to date, people would just try to find their own fix. It's such a common practice in other places that seeing this happening here is wild to me. More than a few of my Skyrim mods were being updated and keep being updated by someone who isn't the original creators; many of which only took up mod development solely because the mod they want to use was abandoned by the original creators. Even someone as stupid as me, dabble in a few very basic modding for personal use because I couldn't find the mod I want. And to call myself a modder would've an insult to people who actually know what they're doing. It's just an entirely different attitude from the community. Other mod scenes feel like a community sharing and helping each other; while the Sims scene treat it more of a consumer-business relationship, so God forbids Karen didn't get her coffee in a timely manner.

While no videogame community can completely avoid the occasional modders dramas, imagining modders getting doxxed for not doing an update is actually terrifying. I wouldn't work anymore if I was getting seriously threatened by people for something so petty about my work. It feels like genuine hatred. People need to remember this is a GAMING community, a place where we're supposed to commune and share our love for a game. Perhaps some people are getting this bitter because they are no longer getting any fun in the Sims and are just too frustrated to tolerate any inconvenience - saying that as a joke, but it might actually be true considering what mod this whole drama was about.

I'm nowhere close to Turbodriver when it comes to making mods, but I've participated in some big mods on other games, and in comparison it really took me an hour or so to troubleshoot and find a fix to the main problem (I'm not saying that anyone who doesn't fix it themselves is dumb, since it obviously requires some tools and being used to messing a bit with your game) But I found people that were there taking their entire summer nights trashtalking somebody for not working fast enough, while they could instead use their time to help themselves and others with something that is really not that hard to fix. People should learn to solve their problem by themselves, or be patient and at least respectful with people that are here to help them.

This behavior is called bad faith, it's assuming the worst case scenario in any random scenario that they get to witness in order to take it out of context to fuel their own biases, it's stuff that ppl do who take things way too seriously

It's been like this since TS3. Toxic, entitled, angry, miserable, rude, and quite frankly not something that most of us would like to associate ourselves with. Hence I stick to watching YTubers rather than conversing with the 'community.'
Not to mention even the "nicer" community members can be so condescending. Like you can bring up a very valid argument or discuss a "personally disliked" addition in a completely civil manner and fans will still act holier than thou about it. I 've had discussions basically boil down to "well for XYZ minority, it's ABC good thing, so *I* don't understand why you're upset." No matter how you explain yourself, even if you say you're apart of said XYZ minority, you're still treated as an outlyer or outcast and should "shut up and be happy" with the poor excuse of shallow, bare minimum representation in the game.
The mods situation is worse when you learn more about it. Turbodriver told people ahead of the patch's release that they'd be on vacation. People were warned that they wouldn't get the updates for a little while, they were notified so far in advance that they could choose not to update their games or get the pack, so they could still play with their mods. It's been less than a week since the patch dropped. The mod updates are only "late" by a few days, and people were notified this would be the case at the time.
Even if Turbodriver was at home, my guess is the patch has ben extensive enough it will take a few days to sort through and playtest an extensive mod like WW.

Ngl, my biggest point of confusion about the WW thing is that the mod still works for me, and my game is fully updated. The worst error I've gotten is 1 last exception, and the game runs fine?? Like he told you not to update, at this point accept the consequences and just go outside or play literally any other game.
Honestly, same with me. My game is fully updated with Lovestruck included and WW still works perfectly fine for me. Only time I've had issues with it was when Turbodriver already did an update of the mod before I would next load up the game to play and only took getting the latest one to fix it. I honestly feel bad for him because of all this nonsense happening and tbh, I would not blame him if he decides he no longer wants to bother with the mods because of these selfish people. The guy should get to have a break when he wants and needs to
My game's been okay too. I don't have WW, but I do have a different mod from Turbo. I have a separate mod that helps me find where last exceptions are coming from and none of Turbo's mods are showing up as broken or not working, so I just wonder if it's something conflicting with other people? I'm not sure because I have like over 1,000 CC and mods, so you'd expect one to conflict but none are??
@@eri5471 Might be fear then 🤷🏽♀️. I don’t use WW so not sure, but script mods and things that interact with the UI can perma ruin a save. So maybe they just didn’t want to open the save without confirmed compatibility. Either way, all they had to do if they were unsure is make a copy of their save to run some test or play vanilla.

that unironically makes me really sad. i'm kinda a builder now but when i was new to the sims it would have really discouraged me if people had been rude about it. Even though it's "just a game" it's still really upsetting to see someone try something new and get shot down for it. These people need a life! @@sawyer9969seriously, the only feedback people should give on builds is advice on how to improve. I also usually start off with a compliment because there is always something nice to say. I’m not an expert builder by any means. I’ve been around long enough to know some tricks and hacks, but I still learn something new every day. And at the end of the day, it’s just a video game. 😊

recently started joining patreon's of sims modders simply because of this issue. I want to finally express my gratitude for modders so that they don't get upset and leave. Sometimes a few words of encouragement can keep you in a community and I hope that I can be those few words of encouragement!
We all know who got doxxed, Satch and its abhorrent. Hope he enjoyed his vacation (which was booked months in advance - as they usually are). Bad timing is a thing that's common in EA's broken joke of a world. Still, he plans on releasing an update this week. Keep it in your pants kids. Or just go outside.

Yep. At least when I complain, I've only bought the game itself, along with Get to Work and City Living YEARS ago when I thought the game was good (I was a young teen lol so I didn't know better). I do have all of the packs through other means because I want them for the CAS and build items mainly, but I've paid enough to EA already, in my opinion. It's so hypocritical of people to complain constantly about packs.. and then keep buying them. Like, they clearly don't care about quality, they care about making money. And right now, since they're still making money, they're going to keep releasing half-assed packs.

I’m Black and was soooo excited that sims added Black hairstyles. My husband and I both have locs. My hubby in particular always get that style and i love that they put it in the game. Sims folks are weird because this is the same hairstyle in madden. Actually EA is being lazy because they have ton of male hairstyles they could bring from madden to sims 4!
You are absolutely right on about the psychology of the sims community..I was so excited to start my channel but since coming across so many simmers that literally rip apart your words and misconstrue it to fit their agenda, it’s crazy. I’m finally learning to ignore it, but it was disheartening because I’ve been playing for at least 20 years and felt like I finally could have a community to have fun with….but it is what it is 🤷🏻♀️

I truly believe this part of the community will and has killed many projects that would or could have been developed in life simulation. I truly believe the only way to get a game out in this genre is to ignore the people entirely at this point. The Sims 4 focused too much on appeasing the community that they have completely fallen flat on gameplay and actually fixing the game. The modders are the only ones keeping it alive and tbh it’s unfair how much hate they receive.
Any gaming, movie, show company should have a specific team for reading and interacting with the community, never the creators, directors or creative team/ developers, artists etc. they absolutely should stay away from their 'fans' because of a few rotten bunch that ruin it for everyone, sadly
"Angry virgin disorder" couldn't have worded it better myself Satch! Recently I've found its not just limited to The Sims franchise, it's been becoming more and more prevalent in other fandoms. I used to be pretty active in the Genshin community, and I, an IRL Bisexual, was called a Lesbianphobe because I dared to say I didn't like a characters kit because it didn't gel with my preferred playstyle (think someone with a heavy weapon, where I prefer quick damage over time instead of in big heavy blows.) No matter what I said, even after I pointed out that I was bisexual IRL, it didn't matter. Because I had dared to "insult" an anime character who this person decided what "just like them fr fr!" and they took offence to the fact that some random person on the street didn't like the character, and saw it as a personal attack on themselves. In the end I blocked them and moved on, but to this day almost a year later, I am very much baffled and confused.
Either they are children or they act on bad faith (pretty bad psychological phenomena that exists) so don't worry too much about it, even if their attitude stings
@@shro_okee Oh I try not to let their attitudes get to me, but it is difficult because they don't know how or when to walk away from an argument. Even more so when they decide to drag their internet friends into the argument to bat for them, and they they try to "shame" me for "bullying a minor." Which not only proves to me that they are minors who should be outside or doing their homework, but also makes me long for the days when minors were afraid to look dumb on the internet so would conceal their ages or would just ignore conversations.
I posted a comment on one of Sims 4 posts on Steam about how I didn't like them making everything gender neutral by excluding gender specific terms, and of course a couple people basically replied back to me that I was intolerant of inclusivity. The irony was that that more people backed me up on my opinion and shut down those two 😂 The Sims 4 community makes me lose brain cells sometimes I swear

I fully understand. The part that really got me is when you talked about the people who are all about or say they are all about inclusivity and diversity. Because I had these 2 people in my college class that I thought I was friends with. I love the art they make and they make very feminist art and on there social media they are always posting about feminist causes or other movements happening. So they came off as good. Then one day I was sexually harassed and assaulted by a bad person in the class. I go to talk about it and tell the so called feminist friends. They then said to me about a SA that they don't get involved in drama and that I should stop talking about it and that I'm overreacting. I was extremely disappointed and upset. But the rest of the class was not like that to me but the two students who claimed and are always making feminist artwork and statements. Now everytime I see them on social media posting feminism or see them in class presenting there newest art work about feminism and the cause and what women and LGBTQ go through. I just want to yell at the top of my lungs YOUR FAKE. But thank you for opening up about this.

I tend to avoid the sims community because to me they seem very "loud" about expressing what's right, and for some reason all creators in the sims are this way, that's why i love your channel, honest and down to earth! I haven't been able to build in the new world since it came out because TOOL needed an update, and I didn't want to build without it. Guess what I didn't do? I *didn't* get on the internet and scream at mod creators to update their mods, I didn't call them names, and I didn't doxx anyone. WILD RIGHT? IT WAS SOOOO DIFFICULT TO BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING!! Modders who accept monies become someone providing a service which oft legally means they have to stick to a reliable schedule and/or product quality. Even if all they create is free for everyone with or without financial support to do so. But there's indeed a line, and this instance was a prime example of it. And it was esp illogical for Turbo who already had a PSA they'd be MIA 🤦♀

This is so horrible, I have the WW mod and was confused about how the mod was breaking a bit (I didn’t know I even had it), but I didn’t pay attention to it and discovered a solution for the meantime. I've been playing this game since the Sims 1 and the community has never been as toxic as it is now. Any dissenting opinion, disagreeing with a choice made by the devs, or not immediately bowing down to EA results in a frothing-at-the-mouth pack of chronically online grown children attacking you and wishing the worst on you all over a bunch of pixels. These people have no real life outside of the game and it's sad. They substitute TS4 for the real world including all their social justice grievances (just a reminder, the Sims are not real people who can actually face real harm) and EA encourages them by pandering to their every whim instead of making a quality game. It's exhausting.
Honestly, I feel like it often goes both ways. It seems like people also getting attacked for daring to mention that they like Sims 4 or disagreeing with a popular opinion about it. And as far as the game being inclusive, it's 2024- it should be!

They are retarded. I got blocked multiple times for simply giving laugh reactions to some stupid post, or giving like to comment with opinion that wasnt woke enough. They want everyone to tolerate them, but wont tolerate others. I dont engage with the group anymore.
Something similar with the doxxing happened in the Skyrim modding community too with the same type of mod. It drove the creator away and their mod has been abandoned for a handful of months now. The toxicity gets more intense in modding communities.
No one with reasonable emotional regulation skills would spend any significant amount of time getting angry about game. That's why the one's using the game as a crutch are the loudest. The real sims community is at work, school, socializing, touching grass, etc.
It's sad that so many people can't even distinguish between real life and a game. Being depressed and anxious sucks, I would know, but this is what happens when you stop calling anyone out. When it becomes your excuse for everything. Insanity is a different thing people. Let's keep it that way 💀
The modder in question actually did a post for their patrons before the first update was even released. They warned that they had a planned time away when the update was scheduled to come out. So it was known that there would be a delay in getting an update to their mod.
The thing is I’m pretty sure it was over Wicked Whims too! 😭 If you can’t live without that mod for more than a day, then you need to touch grass, lmao. 😂 Also, I love your laugh and your channel so much. It’s such a breath of fresh air.

I'm in several TS4 fb groups and the vast majority of the members are super nice, helpful and respectful. But damn those few rotten apples really do make this community look bad. I have been silently watching your videos for months, and you inspired me to start my own Sims UA-cam channel. It’s very small right now and I don’t get many comments at the moment, but I had noticed the toxicity of the Sims community before I started. I have a physical disability and I only play the game for a few hours per week because I've been playing since The Sims 1 was released, and I enjoy it. I’m not active in any online communities to do with The Sims because that’s not good for anyone’s mental health. Still, I am preparing myself for what is inevitably going to happen. People should not be doxxed (I didn’t know what that was until now either) or abused online for enjoying a video game.

There are lots of so called "fans" in probably every community, the rude people that seem to only want to harass and insult people because of practically anything, my philosophy is haters gotta hate cause it's what gives them some joy in their miserable existence, and if you have haters and toxic people insulting you, then you are doing something right and never take what they say to heart but know that you are giving them some joy by giving them something they will complain about, some people complain just to complain, but even haters should have some etiquette and not dox people unless they are also willing to be doxxed themselves.

The fact that the wedding pack alone didn't trigger a class action suit is almost surprising. People paid for an expansion that was so broken that you could argue that it objectively made the game worse. And this has been happening on repeat with so many different DLCs.

About that doxxed creator and their mods...
I'm actually one of the guys who troubleshot and found a temporary fix to make it workable until the next update, and I shared it online.
And... almost nobody saw it because they were too busy arguing about how outrageous it was that this creator dared to take a vacation in the middle of July and couldn't update in one or two days :')
I'm a developer and an experienced modder for other games, and it was my first shot at getting into the Sims community. It will be the last. Not gonna tryna blend into such toxic, spiteful and entitled crybabies.
Thank you for what you're doing (including the occasional stuff you and many others have to deal with) it's easy to say to just ignore them, much easier said than done, but know that those ppl will always exist and therefore it's kind of expected to hear uncreative bad faith takes once in a while, but the people who aren't like this (usually the silent majority) really appreciates it
I can't even play my game right now, but know that this is appreciated. Because this is what I would have been looking for. A shame that they didn't see it bc they chose to be petty instead of resourceful.
In other games' modding scene, if the mod is not up to date, people would just try to find their own fix. It's such a common practice in other places that seeing this happening here is wild to me. More than a few of my Skyrim mods were being updated and keep being updated by someone who isn't the original creators; many of which only took up mod development solely because the mod they want to use was abandoned by the original creators. Even someone as stupid as me, dabble in a few very basic modding for personal use because I couldn't find the mod I want. And to call myself a modder would've an insult to people who actually know what they're doing.
It's just an entirely different attitude from the community. Other mod scenes feel like a community sharing and helping each other; while the Sims scene treat it more of a consumer-business relationship, so God forbids Karen didn't get her coffee in a timely manner.

While no videogame community can completely avoid the occasional modders dramas, imagining modders getting doxxed for not doing an update is actually terrifying. Perhaps some people are getting this bitter because they are no longer getting any fun in the Sims and are just too frustrated to tolerate any inconvenience - saying that as a joke, but it might actually be true considering what mod this whole drama was about.

I'm nowhere close to Turbodriver when it comes to making mods, but I've participated in some big mods on other games, and in comparison it really took me an hour or so to troubleshoot and find a fix to the main problem (I'm not saying that anyone who doesn't fix it themselves is dumb, since it obviously requires some tools and being used to messing a bit with your game)
But I found people that were there taking their entire summer nights trashtalking somebody for not working fast enough, while they could instead use their time to help themselves and others with something that is really not that hard to fix. People should learn to solve their problem by themselves, or be patient and at least respectful with people that are here to help them.

Like you can bring up a very valid argument or discuss a "personally disliked" addition in a completely civil manner and fans will still act holier than thou about it. I 've had discussions basically boil down to "well for XYZ minority, it's ABC good thing, so *I* don't understand why you're upset." No matter how you explain yourself, even if you say you're apart of said XYZ minority, you're still treated as an outlyer or outcast and should "shut up and be happy" with the poor excuse of shallow, bare minimum representation in the game.

Can someone tell me what the Sims 1, 2 & 3 communities are like? These are the only games I play, but I'm not an OG player.
The mods situation is worse when you learn more about it. Turbodriver told people ahead of the patch's release that they'd be on vacation. People were warned that they wouldn't get the updates for a little while, they were notified so far in advance that they could choose not to update their games or get the pack, so they could still play with their mods.
It's been less than a week since the patch dropped. The mod updates are only "late" by a few days, and people were notified this would be the case at the time.
Even if Turbodriver was at home, my guess is the patch has ben extensive enough it will take a few days to sort through and playtest an extensive mod like WW.

Ngl, my biggest point of confusion about the WW thing is that the mod still works for me, and my game is fully updated. The worst error I've gotten is 1 last exception, and the game runs fine??

Honestly, same with me. My game is fully updated with Lovestruck included and WW still works perfectly fine for me. Only time I've had issues with it was when Turbodriver already did an update of the mod before I would next load up the game to play and only took getting the latest one to fix it. I honestly feel bad for him because of all this nonsense happening and tbh, I would not blame him if he decides he no longer wants to bother with the mods because of these selfish people. My game's been okay too. I don't have WW, but I do have a different mod from Turbo. I have a separate mod that helps me find where last exceptions are coming from and none of Turbo's mods are showing up as broken or not working, so I just wonder if it's something conflicting with other people? I'm not sure because I have like over 1,000 CC and mods, so you'd expect one to conflict but none are??
@@eri5471 Might be fear then 🤷🏽♀️. I don’t use WW so not sure, but script mods and things that interact with the UI can perma ruin a save. So maybe they just didn’t want to open the save without confirmed compatibility. Either way, all they had to do if they were unsure is make a copy of their save to run some test or play vanilla.

that unironically makes me really sad. i'm kinda a builder now but when i was new to the sims it would have really discouraged me if people had been rude about it. Even though it's "just a game" it's still really upsetting to see someone try something new and get shot down for it. These people need a life! I’m not an expert builder by any means. I’ve been around long enough to know some tricks and hacks, but I still learn something new every day. And at the end of the day, it’s just a video game. 😊

recently started joining patreon's of sims modders simply because of this issue. I want to finally express my gratitude for modders so that they don't get upset and leave. Sometimes a few words of encouragement can keep you in a community and I hope that I can be those few words of encouragement!

Yep. At least when I complain, I've only bought the game itself, along with Get to Work and City Living YEARS ago when I thought the game was good (I was a young teen lol so I didn't know better). I do have all of the packs through other means because I want them for the CAS and build items mainly, but I've paid enough to EA already, in my opinion. It's so hypocritical of people to complain constantly about packs.. and then keep buying them. Like, they clearly don't care about quality, they care about making money. And right now, since they're still making money, they're going to keep releasing half-assed packs.

I’m Black and was soooo excited that sims added Black hairstyles. My husband and I both have locs. My hubby in particular always get that style and i love that they put it in the game. Sims folks are weird because this is the same hairstyle in madden. Actually EA is being lazy because they have ton of male hairstyles they could bring from madden to sims 4!

You are absolutely right on about the psychology of the sims community..I was so excited to start my channel but since coming across so many simmers that literally rip apart your words and misconstrue it to fit their agenda, it’s crazy. I’m finally learning to ignore it, but it was disheartening because I’ve been playing for at least 20 years and felt like I finally could have a community to have fun with….but it is what it is 🤷🏻♀️

I truly believe this part of the community will and has killed many projects that would or could have been developed in life simulation. I truly believe the only way to get a game out in this genre is to ignore the people entirely at this point. The Sims 4 focused too much on appeasing the community that they have completely fallen flat on gameplay and actually fixing the game. The modders are the only ones keeping it alive and tbh it’s unfair how much hate they receive.
Any gaming, movie, show company should have a specific team for reading and interacting with the community, never the creators, directors or creative team/ developers, artists etc. they absolutely should stay away from their 'fans' because of a few rotten bunch that ruin it for everyone, sadly
"Angry virgin disorder" couldn't have worded it better myself Satch! Recently I've found its not just limited to The Sims franchise, it's been becoming more and more prevalent in other fandoms. I used to be pretty active in the Genshin community, and I, an IRL Bisexual, was called a Lesbianphobe because I dared to say I didn't like a characters kit because it didn't gel with my preferred playstyle (think someone with a heavy weapon, where I prefer quick damage over time instead of in big heavy blows.) No matter what I said, even after I pointed out that I was bisexual IRL, it didn't matter. Because I had dared to "insult" an anime character who this person decided what "just like them fr fr!" and they took offence to the fact that some random person on the street didn't like the character, and saw it as a personal attack on themselves.
In the end I blocked them and moved on, but to this day almost a year later, I am very much baffled and confused.
Either they are children or they act on bad faith (pretty bad psychological phenomena that exists) so don't worry too much about it, even if their attitude stings
@@shro_okee Oh I try not to let their attitudes get to me, but it is difficult because they don't know how or when to walk away from an argument. Even more so when they decide to drag their internet friends into the argument to bat for them, and they they try to "shame" me for "bullying a minor." Which not only proves to me that they are minors who should be outside or doing their homework, but also makes me long for the days when minors were afraid to look dumb on the internet so would conceal their ages or would just ignore conversations.
I posted a comment on one of Sims 4 posts on Steam about how I didn't like them making everything gender neutral by excluding gender specific terms, and of course a couple people basically replied back to me that I was intolerant of inclusivity.
The irony was that that more people backed me up on my opinion and shut down those two 😂

I fully understand. The part that really got me is when you talked about the people who are all about or say they are all about inclusivity and diversity. Because I had these 2 people in my college class that I thought I was friends with. I love the art they make and they make very feminist art and on there social media they are always posting about feminist causes or other movements happening. So they came off as good. Then one day I was sexually harassed and assaulted by a bad person in the class. I go to talk about it and tell the so called feminist friends. They then said to me about a SA that they don't get involved in drama and that I should stop talking about it and that I'm overreacting. I was extremely disappointed and upset. But the rest of the class was not like that to me but the two students who claimed and are always making feminist artwork and statements. Now everytime I see them on social media posting feminism or see them in class presenting there newest art work about feminism and the cause and what women and LGBTQ go through. I just want to yell at the top of my lungs YOUR FAKE. But thank you for opening up about this.

I tend to avoid the sims community because to me they seem very "loud" about expressing what's right, and for some reason all creators in the sims are this way, that's why i love your channel, honest and down to earth! I haven't been able to build in the new world since it came out because TOOL needed an update, and I didn't want to build without it. Guess what I didn't do? I *didn't* get on the internet and scream at mod creators to update their mods, I didn't call them names, and I didn't doxx anyone. WILD RIGHT? IT WAS SOOOO DIFFICULT TO BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING!! And it's wild - maybe this is the nostalgia talking but it did not seem this bad before the base game became free.
It does NOT matter if you're a "paying customer" to a modder, there's ZERO excuse to doxx that modder and then make death threats over a modder not updating their mod right away. The dude was on vacation, probably spending time with his loved ones and yet here is the sims community being absolutely horrible. Just because you're paying a modder it doesn't mean the modder has to bend over backwards to people's demands every time they make one. They are people too and have lives, they're allowed to live it. Modders who accept monies become someone providing a service which oft legally means they have to stick to a reliable schedule and/or product quality. Even if all they create is free for everyone with or without financial support to do so.
But there's indeed a line, and this instance was a prime example of it. And it was esp illogical for Turbo who already had a PSA they'd be MIA 🤦♀

This is so horrible, I have the WW mod and was confused about how the mod was breaking a bit (I didn’t know I even had it), but I didn’t pay attention to it and discovered a solution for the meantime. The fact that people DOXXED the creator? This is messed up, I hope the creator could recover soon and stay safe.

I've been playing this game since the Sims 1 and the community has never been as toxic as it is now. Any dissenting opinion, disagreeing with a choice made by the devs, or not immediately bowing down to EA results in a frothing-at-the-mouth pack of chronically online grown children attacking you and wishing the worst on you all over a bunch of pixels. These people have no real life outside of the game and it's sad. They substitute TS4 for the real world including all their social justice grievances (just a reminder, the Sims are not real people who can actually face real harm) and EA encourages them by pandering to their every whim instead of making a quality game. It's exhausting.
Honestly, I feel like it often goes both ways. It seems like people also getting attacked for daring to mention that they like Sims 4 or disagreeing with a popular opinion about it. And as far as the game being inclusive, it's 2024- it should be!

Something similar with the doxxing happened in the Skyrim modding community too with the same type of mod. It drove the creator away and their mod has been abandoned for a handful of months now.

The modder in question actually did a post for their patrons before the first update was even released. They warned that they had a planned time away when the update was scheduled to come out. So it was known that there would be a delay in getting an update to their mod.
The thing is I’m pretty sure it was over Wicked Whims too! 😭 If you can’t live without that mod for more than a day, then you need to touch grass, lmao. 😂

I have been silently watching your videos for months, and you inspired me to start my own Sims UA-cam channel. It’s very small right now and I don’t get many comments at the moment, but I had noticed the toxicity of the Sims community before I started. I have a physical disability and I only play the game for a few hours per week because I've been playing since The Sims 1 was released, and I enjoy it. I’m not active in any online communities to do with The Sims because that’s not good for anyone’s mental health. Still, I am preparing myself for what is inevitably going to happen. People should not be doxxed (I didn’t know what that was until now either) or abused online for enjoying a video game.
