off-topic but, You are CRAZY consistent with your fitness. Out of everyone i have followed/follow over the years you're the only one who stays so fit throughout the year. You have literally been the same since i started following you and ive been here since the rooftop in Prague days lol.
Great to hear this. I was told my arches has fallen from walking barefoot and wearing flat flip flops my whole life! My doctor told me to now wear arch support shoes!?
I have been exercising barefooted since the first time I started my fitness journey, and I have to say I cannot imagine if I wear any sneakers to workout, I never feel comfortable working out with shoes on. Barefoot training gives me the freedom I needed to move with more functionality and stability!
I know what you mean but not so "all in". I find i like bare feet when doing my strength oriented circuit training. If there's more lengthy running involved or focusing on moving heavy weights around, I like to wear shoes. Admittedly, if I drop 45 lbs of iron on my foot, a shoe is doing little more than adding a few extra seconds of denial before brutal reality... So I guess that's value enough for me, lol.
I have severely flat feet and began the barefoot lifestyle a few years ago to address that. My woman has perfect arches but had an ankle injury and walks nine miles a day at work. These excercises will help us a lot, my thanks!
Awesome topic and video. I started wearing Vibram 5 fingers toe shoes 4 years ago. I My calves hurt for the first 6 months but I have noticed a huge difference in my lower leg strength and my stability over that period. I’ve never done specific exercises but I’ll have to give these a try. I’m 60 and I think my feet are stronger and better conditioned than they have been in my entire life.
Minus use of common but incorrect double suffix, the mouth-breather term "functionality" is an idiot's version of *function,* which already covers the exact purpose of infusing "ality" to the word "function."
The first time I tried slack-lining I couldn’t keep my feet from shaking because I had never really used those foot muscles much. Great video on an important topic.
I started working out exactly 6 months ago. After 6 weeks, I felt better, and it became a routine. I did only one, 20 mins workout, but now I do workout 3 times a day. There are many benefits of working out daily. I'm 42. 🙂
I'm a Brooklyn NY guy. First time I'm here watching your channel. Oh my gosh, Zuzka, It never occurred to me about working out barefoot. I ran the test you illustrated on my feet . As we say in Brooklyn, fudd-gedda-bout-it! Damn do I need to strengthened my feet under your guidance. Thank you so much sweetheart for your sage advice.
Thank you for this topic, it is very helpful for me. As a child I cut one of my feet badly and severed a tendon, so I can't move one of my big toes side to side, which has affected my balance and ability to do plyometric exercises. I've always felt like strengthening my feet would help overall, although I doubt I'll ever be able to do full unassisted balancing on the one side. I'll definitely be doing these exercises to see how much I can improve.
dakujem, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The importance of feet is a significant topic that many people do not understand. I have personally experienced collapsed arches from wearing hard boots and wrong shoes during heavy weight training, which threw out my hip and L & C spine alignments. This generally leads to back, neck, hip, and knee pains, and can even lead to knee or hip replacements. However, I have learned that foot strengthening is crucial for my well-being. I now wear minimalist shoes or go barefoot whenever possible. I have come to realize that any shoe with an inflexible narrow front, hard ankle support, hard lacing, high heels or high arches or cushy stupidly thick soles is the wrong type of shoe, and some manufacturers even go claim that their "fancy" soles will help you. Think of it like having a broken arm or leg in a cast. After the cast is removed, the limb is left with degraded and unused muscles that must be strengthened to regain use. Similarly, your foot is in a "cast" when you wear the wrong shoes, which will weaken or underuse your foot muscles. Therefore, I have started using shoes like FiveFingers or a barefoot shoes to help strengthen my feet. Zuzka, are doing an excellent job with your channel, and show people how to be healthy and look fantastic when one look after themselves and eat healthy. thank you my country neighbor :)
I learned all of these in physical therapy... I've had chronic Plantar fasciitis since I was a teen. The pain, the incorrect movements messed up my knees and lower back.
I have started walking barefoot as much as I can the last few weeks. It is helping to in general give me better body awareness and balance, and I am hoping over time it will sort out my lower back and hip problems and imbalances. Big heel drop shoes make your brain think you are falling all the time and the cushioning desensitises you to the ground. So your emphasis on the feet here is very important and useful. I cannot splay my toes yet or move big toe independent of others so I will start by working on that.
I do all your workouts bare foot... I've always had weak feet and poor stability, and doing intense workouts at home on the exercise mat really helped me train my feet. I used to chronically twist and sprain my ankles, I can't remember the last time that happened.
I have viewed this channel over the past 12 months or so and have integrated a couple of the recommendations in my weekly routine. With that said, I've noticed improvements in my balance and core strength. I've also observed this young lady 's physic has gotten stronger and leaner which adds to credibility. Are there any dietary routines you can share as well ?
Your exercises are beautiful; you have tone, balance, strength, control, flexibilty. I have flat feet and as I age and due to knee injuries I have had PT. Your routines are extensions and complements of what I learned there. I realize I have been taking my feet for granted for decades.
Thank you for this content! I let my strength go during the pandemic and working from home. This has led to strange pains. I really appreciate your sharing this!
Thank you SOOO MUUCHH!! I have needed this exact video for years. I love yoga and jumping and lunges,, but haven't been able to because the pain in my toes/footbed. Thank you!

tried these exercises today, because i have really painfull feet after a day work...and it is time to do these exercises, because it is all as stiff as a block of concrete ...when moving my toes,I feel all the muscle in my legs working,fascinating...try to do these exercises few times in a week,I want strong feet and more flexibility, thanks for sharing !! I'm an athlete, and I have to be honest. I've completely disregarded foot exercises unintentionally. Thank you, Zuska, for opening my eyes and making me realize how much better I could be achieving my fitness goals. You just gained another follower. Muito obrigado! 1️⃣❤️
I did indeed enjoy this video. And I learned a lot. Ive been saying for years that our feet hold up our entire body weight for our entire life. And all the weight we carry. But I've never seen/heard anyone talk about in such detail, and offer such good instruction, as you did in this video. Many thanks for all your videos. And blessings upon you.
I'm really glad you put some attention to this important parts of our bodies (and almost all Fitness youtubers seem to ignore it). I hope you make many more Videos with exercises for the feet, as you said they are literary the foundation of our Bodies and our fitness.
I don't know what algorithm brought me here but wow. I have toe/ball of foot problems from wearing steel cap work boots, I regularly have to kneel down and lean forward into small electrical cubicles and find that my boots only flex in one position, in the middle of the boots sole behind the steel cap, I have tried many types of boot and they all do the same. It puts strain on my foot, which I don't really notice at the time, but it results in pain for the next few days. It presently stops me running and playing football for several days. I will try your foot exercises to see if it helps.
I love the Z gym and I’m so happy to be back to working out everyday after a few years of being lazy. It feels great and I’m getting stronger and sexier everyday. Thank a lot Zuzka 💪
Hi Zuzka, In my 50+ years of yoga and my designed "Proteios Process: BodyMusic classes I suggest Simhasana, the Vajrasana variations and the seated mediation asanas which will work the bottom of feet, toes, ankles, Achilles, calves, knees, hips, sacrum, low back and the "guy wires" of ligaments, tendons, muscles within and extending from the pelvis up to the mid-back and down to the knees, in Proteios extensive ROM. Let's talk and collaborate on master classes.
A while ago I got one of those small indoor trampolines for the kids. I started bouncing on it barefoot while watching tv. My ankles and feet recover so much quicker from playing soccer several days a week.
Wow, I never thought of this before, but I will have to start, as I'm older but love pushing myself on my bike, and this could help with my power and comfort, especially on those short high output, and long rides. But I never wear shoes when working out at home, so at least I was doing that right.. : )
Yup. I’ve tried to explain the difference between flat feet vs high arch as far as athletes go. A person with a high arch can generally have more flexibility and can maneuver better. Like a cat. Think MJ. Where as a person with flat feet can stand their ground and be planted into the ground. Think an offensive lineman in football.

I think that rooftop was in Malta.

Apparently you don’t follow many of these people.
Incredible commitment, consistency and perseverance
You are absolutely correct. We were not born with shoes. We need strong feet and ankles to support our bodies.
We do through evolution. Our butt muscles are the largest among all apes to help us walk upright.
We were not born with clothes either
