I went full wide-toe box minimalist barefoot zero-drop shoes over 3 months ago when I got back into training. I have 2 pairs, one for paved paths and one for hiking trails. I regularly train, hike, ruck, jog, and run in these shoes. 3 months later, and my feet and my ankles have gotten much, much stronger and much more resilient. Am never going back to padded shoes ever again.
    Keep on rockin'! 🤘

I did the same 1 year ago to improve my knee pain, knee's are taking some time but I just love feeling the ground. Zero shoes are the way forward.

    • @harryv6752
      @harryv6752 4 місяці тому +1

@@FacesandSpacesStowmarket That is totally rad! And you are most certainly right. There definitely is nothing like the feel of the ground. The only time I'm wearing my barefoot shoes is when I'm out the door and sometimes when I'm training at home. Other than that, I'm usually barefoot at home and in yard. Just a few weeks back, I started jogging around my neighborhood (just over a 0.5mi loop) completely barefoot just to build up my feet callouses. Trying to bring back the feel of way back when I was a kid and going most everywhere barefoot after school and on the weekends. 🤘😄

  • @jouuueee

This was a phenomenal comprehensive review of why it's important, what exercises, frequency and duration and the escalation to more difficult weight-bearing exercises.
I have ruptured my plantar fascia three times now. The last time I was put in a soft boot for 8-10 weeks. My podiatrist never suggested physical therapy to recover. As a result, I continued to have pain and discomfort to the degree that I couldn't walk. Normally they put me back into a boot for another 6 to 8 weeks. I came out of that. The same issues.
What did the boot do, it stripped my leg from the glute down to the foot of any strength and affected mobility. Mobility. The most obvious observation is that when standing on my right foot I cannot get onto my toes. No matter how hard I try, I cannot lift my heel, not even to slip a piece of paper underneath of it. That's weakness and it's weakness that stresses the ligaments and joints in the foot.
Your video covers so much of what I wish I had before I put on a boot and after I took off the boot. I'm a year and a half into this miserable experience. I have spent thousands of dollars on orthotics and images. I have now seen four doctors, two podiatrists and two orthopedic specialists and I'm on my third round of physical therapy.
Just because they're doctors doesn't mean that they have the answers or that they're going to give you good treatment that will solve your problem. I can honestly say my first podiatrist really did a poor job of evaluating and coming up with a good treatment plan from a to z. I got steroid injections. I even had my blood extracted spun and re-injected into my foot. Again, thousands of dollars spent many hours of work lost and it's taken me completely out of my activities, like tennis, boxing, swimming, running, hiking. I feel cheated and demoralized.
I really appreciate the video you put together here. I'm definitely subscribing. Thank you so much

I feel like I'm just one step away from dealing with this. I'm a server and walk anywhere from 16k-22k steps 5 days a week. I'm in excruciating pain every night. I also lift weights. I've been doing calf raises but they haven't seemed to help. I'm getting frustrated. Hopefully this video helps.

I loved all of the information in this video! I’m currently in PT for plantar fasciitis and once that is healed, I will most definitely be incorporating foot strengthening into my weekly workouts. I’ve been dealing with it for 9 YEARS, and my focus really changed from anti-inflammatory to degenerative when I stumbled onto newer research. Building adequate foot strength is so important to avoid recurring PF and I wish my podiatrist would have told me to KEEP strengthening my foot, instead of suggesting corticosteroid injections, custom orthotics, etc.
    Thanks for your video!! 😊

I ended up having a PRP injection done in March because I had a low-grade tear of the PF at my heel, an MRI showed. It’s been a long recovery, but I was told it would be. The initial pain has definitely started to diminish, but the immobilization I had to do for two weeks caused me some issues with my Achilles tendon and my posterior tibial tendon. Back to PT now and having success.

If you strengthen your foot, you wouldn't need the podiatrist anymore. Then what would they do? A healed customer is no longer a customer. That is, unfortunately, how our health care system works.

Wow. So much valuable information on just the foot. It will take me some time to digest and practise. Thank you so much. I am currently trying to rehabilitate my hip, and realised, that I cannot do it without also looking at the knee and the foot. The foot on the side of the problem hip is pointing outwards, and most pressure lands on the outside foot rather than the middle and the big toe. My inner voice has been telling me that I will not solve my hip problem without solving my foot position.....and then I came accross this video.

Thank you so much. In my left foot i've fractured the heel, first meta in 4 places, dislocated the 5th and broken the 3rd/4th. 3 different injuries and spent a lot of times on crutches/walking boots. I'm having terrible troubles with my left leg/knee/hip and I think it's stemming from my foot. It is always painful, weak and doesn't feel normal to walk on. I can barely control toes independently, going to get to work!

I have issues with the joint under the ball of my big toe from jumping on concrete without shoes--excruciating to walk for a while unless wearing thick slippers/shoes, but even after healing it gave chronic issues. I learned that limiting extension helped initially. For prevention I learned to walk while adjusting tension in the arch of my foot. It also prevents me from placing too much weight on my heels and getting my heels sore too quickly. Hadn't gotten technical about it, but the foot acts up on long walks and hikes. So in preparing for hiking season, I'm researching foot exercises. This video is a gold mine compared to the articles I found, not just in learning new exercises but in understanding why/how my accidentally discovered exercises were helping.

I was born with a poor gait which caused my feet to over pronate. I am now 68 and have bunions and my big toes spread slightly underneath my next toe. I have been informed I do have arches but the overpronation was caused by my ankles. I am unsure how to go forward with some foot exercises as basically my toes are in the wrong position, hence I get cramp sometimes in the feet and the tendons become taught, again I guess because my toes cannot stretch into the correct position. I will though give these exercises a go and see what transpires, who knows I could end up with new feet. Great video.

Z wdzięcznością dziękuję za światne ćwiczenia nóg. Ja mam 73 lata i wiem, że starość zaczyna się od nóg i dlatego codziennie ćwiczę stopy.

Can you please make a video regarding inguinal hernias, especially for men and if there is a family history of having one? And if a weak pelvic floor can lead go an inguinal hernia and if there are any exercises to strengthen them.

Great advice and video quality. I am following your advice. Now, if you have A foot ulcer, you can't walk. So use an antimicrobial shoe insole like the PodoPhylus one. It releases iodine gas very slowly and kill bacteria helping to heal faster..

I am 60 and dealing with plantar faciitis (again) just got some wide toe shoes and new custom orthotics. Doing your excercises reveals I have weak feet! Would a small trampoline help?

Hey guys! 👋 do you have any videos on knock knees in adults?
My partner believes she has them and that they're problematic. However, she also thought her flat feet were problematic before being educated by your videos.
We would appreciate it if you have any educational videos or advice on knock knees, whether they're a problem or just another myth 😅
