Closing the 10th Annual ZMR Awards show at the Joy Theater in New Orleans May 17, 2014. I played two tracks from the Ax Inferno album and even squeezed in a couple of jokes.
Thanks for your kind words here and on Spanish Steps. I do have my fans around the world...could always welcome more, of course. Very grateful for being able to make a living in music for so long.
Absolutely phenomenal performance: white hot guitar virtuosity, NASA-exact timing down to the millisecond, a groove sense like watching Nascar maneuvers, explosive note bursts like bullets from a machine gun, all overlaid with incredibly hip jazzy-bluesy melodies shimmering with electronic effects. Unfortunately, Paul only has his brilliant musical sense developed over decades of nonstop music growth going for him -- no black-and-white grease paint, no tongue hanging out of his mouth down to his knees, no cone bras, no Autotune software to fix bad notes, no smashing instruments onstage, no wardrobe malfunctions, no goofy dance steps -- poor guy, all he has is pure talent that most musicians only dream of. Somehow, though, I think he'll manage to work through these limitations and still be the last one standing. And playing.
@@fho0409, Paul has a wonderful sense of humor that tends to be subtle and, as so, catches you from behind when you're not expecting it. Also, I should mention that I was at the world premiere of "Natural States" in Seattle, and the following second masterpiece video "Desert Vision" was equally brilliant, all with David Lanz on keyboards and Jan Nickman having created the visuals. Together, these works made music-video history, with many other artists inspired to create their own after Paul, David and Jan paved the way. And by the way, did I mention that Paul Speer mixed and/or mastered six of my albums -- that are still played, streamed, and downloaded today after having been released decades ago? They're all on UA-cam, streaming services, and my website if you're interested. Paul definitely knows what he's doing, that's for sure, and the world is better for it!
@@herbernst7611 Herb, conheci sua música neste momento, pelo canal Christel, e referente a você, Herb, ao Paul, David, Jan, Christel e todos envolvidos, digo também: Anan Cara (Soul Friends). Thanks, Kari. I performed there because Ax Inferno was nominated by radio broadcasters for Best Contemporary Album of the Year. It didn't win but I partied hard with many of the other nominees. I love NOLA.
I just wish that I could have been able to watch your latest concert. I paid but got nothing for some reason. I was hoping to get the downloaded music CD.
Great performance Paul. I enjoyed each second! Greetings from Germany ~ Andrea
Thank you, Andrea. Great to hear from you! I hope all is well in your world.
This guy is pretty awesome. He needs a good publicist or something to get his name out there. Talent this good needs to be shared with the world!

Wow.. thanks, Herb. I really appreciate the positive feedback. But, you know... a cone bra and some goofy dance steps aren't such a bad idea...
Herb, você esqueceu de citar o bom humor, no palco e no comentário, do Paul. Um injustiçado, desde Desert Vision e Natural States.
