Welcome to Gloucester/Sharpness. There is much to discover. Frampton on Severn is a beautiful village and the 3 horseshoes is a must for a pie! Slimbridge boasts the birthplace of the WWT, another great place to stop and visit. Then going towards the end of the canal, Purton is a must to see the boat graveyard !! Enjoy this wonderful part of the country.

That was a very different experience on the Gloucester Canal with its low bridges, stop-go lights 🚦🚥⛵ and bridge-smiths. Also what a treat to watch the pillbox bats 🦇🦇🦇 as they flew about at dusk. Mr. Toad 🐸surely must have Toad 🏫 Hall nestled somewhere within the reeds. The Great Pond Snail, 🐌patiently and lugubriously, inched its way towards the canal's edge until finally it rolled over and tumbled into the water with a ker-splash! where it fed hungrily upon the bracken. Meanwhile I cannot wait to see what you have in mind for the Alice Grace. Will it be a portrait of Zephyr 🐕? An Osprey 🦅? A flower🌺 ? Or perhaps a butterfly 🦋? Only time will tell. So sad that the Stroud missing mile still hasn’t been completed. They have built the underpass but the missing mile that connects the canals hasn’t been connected tex yet. As Stroud is beautiful and the canal is gorgeous. I can’t wait until it’s done so you guys can come and visit

I thought the fish might have been carp and I spent ages trying to identify them as I am not great with my fish ID, but I couldn't see the two barbels on the lower mouth that they have? They put the silt on a big mud pile not far from the canal. I haven’t seen it but I have read about it. I think they are looking at filtering the water that comes in now? Take care🦋🌻

Hi Lorraine, it is definitely getting busier but it is so quiet this year compared to previous years; I'm not sure if it is just this part of the system or less people are out on boats this year? What a different kind of Cruising this week with boats of all sizes and so many bridges to go through. Dainty little cottages with a church to match in the distance the cotswolds and the forest of Dean , bat's in ww2 pillar box seagulls flying low there's never a dull moment with the Mindful Narrowboat. I have never been to Gloucester it looks such a lovely place 👍. Thank u Vanessa for a great vlog 😊🐕🦢🦆ps don't forget the sun screen ur legs looked a bit red lol😂

Thank you Vanessa for this leisurely stroll, it was quite relaxing. I found the Pond Snail quite fascinating, I had no idea they purposely plop into water and have a built-in snorkel in which to breathe.

I realized today how flexible you have to be when running a narrowboat. The way you had to backtrack to find a good parking spot. You always seem to manage to get the best nature videos that snail was something you don't see every day as well as the bat bunker. They put the silt on a big mud pile not far from the canal. I haven’t seen it but I have read about it. I think they are looking at filtering the water that comes in now? Take care🦋🌻

Hi Lorraine, it is definitely getting busier but it is so quiet this year compared to previous years; I'm not sure if it is just this part of the system or less people are out on boats this year? What a different kind of Cruising this week with boats of all sizes and so many bridges to go through. Dainty little cottages with a church to match in the distance the cotswolds and the forest of Dean , bat's in ww2 pillar box seagulls flying low there's never a dull moment with the Mindful Narrowboat. I have never been to Gloucester it looks such a lovely place 👍. Thank u Vanessa for a great vlog 😊🐕🦢🦆ps don't forget the sun screen ur legs looked a bit red lol😂

Thank you Vanessa for this leisurely stroll, it was quite relaxing. I found the Pond Snail quite fascinating, I had no idea they purposely plop into water and have a built-in snorkel in which to breathe.
I was so taken by the pond snail and I watched it for ages as it worked tirelessly to get to the water! They do such an amazing job of keeping the water clean by eating the algae and waste. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻

I realized today how flexible you have to be when running a narrowboat. The way you had to backtrack to find a good parking spot. You always seem to manage to get the best nature videos that snail was something you don't see every day as well as the bat bunker. It's better then nature shows on PBS thanks again for making my Friday better ... Steve
