Marissa, so proud of you. As a union ironworker, you are the first person on any RV channel that I have seen flag any one into a spot using hand signals and doing it right. Cup your hand and flick your fingers to move forward and then close your hand as the stop signal. YOU ROCK GIRL !!!!!!!
THANKS FOR RIDING MY TROLLEY!!!!!! (actually you rode both trolleys) Hey guys I was your driver! JIM AND BARB THE RV FOOLS! The wife and I were on the Island for a summer workamping job. We had such a blast meeting so many people and entertaining them as we give them a tour of the island! San Juan Island is such a beautiful place and we hope to return next summer! We are back down south in Yuma for the winter planning our next adventures! CHECK US OUT AT RVFOOLS AND GIVE US A LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE and follow us as we try to grow!
Your trip to the island looked like a lot of fun. I live in NC and travel to Ocracoke Island frequently. One thing about the NC Ferry system is that they run on time unless weather or some other extenuating circumstances prevents it. If you have reservations, be sure to be checked in 30 minutes ahead of time or you may lose your spot, they are pulling away from the docks on time. Another fun fact about Ocracoke Island and Hatteras, is that there are two plots of land that are leased to Great Britan and fly the Union Jack flag. In the past the Queen sent new flags every May (assume the King will do so now). In 1942 a German U-boat sank a British ship protecting our east coast shipping lanes. Locals found the bodies of 4 of the soldiers and buried them on Ocracoke. After an agreement between the US and Great Britain, it's now marked as British soil and fly their flag. Every May the US Coast Guard and the Royal Navy have a memorial service.
There are jump points under the hood to jump start the motor. Look for a plastic round disc in center area of the engine compartment towards the top. Then on the drivers side there's a ground block. I was laughing when you were opening the battery compartment. I've done that.
Friday Harbor was where I was raised, & your video brought back so many childhood memories, thank you from the whole heart. My father is 86 & still lives there. I'm hoping to take my east coast husband to see this beautiful island where I grew up within the next few years. Thank you again for the wonderful walk down memory lane. I hope you all enjoyed your visit.❤❤
At 17:03, You have... It is... I am at a loss of words... Your children knows this game? It is AMAZING!!!! You just made a GREAT EXAMPLE of children thriving, having fun and being happy with out the use of an electronic device.... Just gave me a bunch of flash back memories!!!!
Thank you for showcasing our beautiful part of the world! My parents boated in the San Juans every summer and Roche Harbor was our happy place. When my Dad passed, away we sprinkled his ashes in the bay at Roche Harbor. They have a flag lowering ceremony at sunset every night and they announce the people they were honoring that evening. BTW the Washington State ferry system has been struggling with older boats and staffing issues. They won’t run a route if there aren’t enough staff so they have to cancel certain runs. The ferries get backed up hence the 75 minute wait. Sorry if that interfered with your plans. But we are so glad you came to our area. Thank you!
A couple of years ago we were in Anacortes and went on the ferry to Lopez Island with our E-Bikes. We are seniors and at the time the cost of a round trip on the ferry with our bikes was $11 each person. It was a little hilly but we rode all over the island and had a great time.
My teenage years were spent island hopping. We'd stay on Guemus Island with our 18-foot bayliner every summer for weeks. We would stay away from Friday harbor. Eating our fresh caught crab and bread from the nuns who'd great you on Shaw Island. Lopez has the best farmers market and ice cream.
We went yesterday and the ferry situation is a HOT MESS! 😅 On our way over it took more than 2 hours to arrive at San Juan. The ferry schedule online is very confusing. I had seen a comment on another video about how they get canceled all the time and you might get stranded for 12 hours! We ate a late lunch at the brewery, which was excellent by the way and then we decided we shoukd check on the times and try to get some kind of confirmation. Ended up finding out at the boarding gate that the current ferry boarding was going to be the last one until possibly 10pm 😮 So...we got on that sucker. We really wanted to visit the state park. I think planning to stay a night or two would be best so you can see everything. ❤ It was beautiful, I love the water too Marissa!
I have been wanting to get up to that island! Growing up on Fox Island we had a small cabin cruiser that my dad gutted the insides and rebuilt it. We spent every weekend we could on the sound and summers up in the San Juan's. I love sleeping on a boat! I'm glad you got up there, but sorry the ferry system is so stretched. Hoping you stayed in the west side of Washington long enough to e experience our beautiful blue sky days.
I love to look for views too!! Makes the food even better! Now I gotta pop up there some weekend and try their donuts!! The San Juan’s are definitely a treat !
I used to live in Anacortes. I love the San Juan Islands. Friday Harbor is a sweet little town, and the island holds many treats. I’ve eaten in that same cafe, the food is excellent.
If you would have taken the left at the round about you would have gone to Whidbey Island. You would have seen Navy jets, Deception pass, and several unique small towns.
I can’t stop lololol.. it’s sooo normal. It’s a daily schedule every single day there. Many get stuck and you just wing it and trust me when I say they will take care of you if that happens. Don’t forget to have a Dutch Brother freeze coffee. Carmel is my favorite.
I used to live in the Pacific Northwest. It's as amazing as you're showing it to be. And riding ferries, especially some of those really large ones, is a real treat. Such an amazing region.
Great video (again🥰), I have always wanted to visit “the island”. The trolly system looks like fun. My niece owns a VRBO there, so I guess it’s time to make a reservation and enjoy the family discount.
We take our RV every Summer to our cabin on Orcas Island for two weeks. Costs $320 round trip which is very reasonable considering the price to stay in a VRBO. We use the trailer and friends come to stay in the cabin. The BC ferries are a bit more expensive but they aren't as strict about the vehicle lengths and also have saver fares if you are flexible in your travel times.
So exciting to see you in the San Juan Islands. I graduated from Friday Harbor High School. Spent a lot of time on those ferry rides. I love that you learned about the Pig War. I was confident that the ferry would eventually show up. You were just on island time for a day.
I lived on San Juan Island for 2 years back in the 80s. Back then the ferries were always off scheduled but it was referred by the locals as "Island Time" where everything was late.
Marissa is absolutely right we should learn a lot from history. Unfortunately many, many folks don't. It can be dangerous jumping vehicles these days as the diodes in the alternators are not as robust as they used to be. A jump box it a much safer option but any port in a storm.
Doubt you’re still in WA but if you are ….. you must check out Edmonds! On the water and has the best fun beaches and trails and fabulous kids play areas every where. Love seeing your joy at exploring my state!
When I go to a new city or place that has a trolly I like to take it. Because it gives you information about the area and if I want to go back I’ll know what I want to see.
You guys should take the Edmonds Kingston ferry to the Olympic peninsula. Or if your on whidbey island take the coopville ferry to portownend that’s another way to get to the Olympic peninsula
The red knob looking thing in the engine compartment at 19:21 is where you hook up the positive jumper cable, just push it in toward the firewall and it will expose a post to clamp to and there should be a bare post on one side of the engine bay that is for the negative cable. Next time you need to jump it. Sent you an email of a video link that I created today.
Also when you park the class c and go away for a couple of hours switch the red battery switch turn disconnect the batterys so this doesn't happen again
Last couple summers San Juan has had the worst service of the islands. . Our ferry system is a mess for many reasons. Orcas for a week vacation next time at Moran state park or west beach resort.
Oh NO, the battery transfer in under the hood right side RED KNOB which is pushed in to expose the POSITIVE post & NEGATIVE post is on the far driver’s side fender. Do NOT need to open the driver’s side floor battery access.
When it comes to ferry transportation there are so many variables that mess up the timing. And you need to have on of those small battery charges for when your battery dies.
I was looking into a paramedic job many years ago on San Juan Island. It didn’t work out. That looked like a pain in the butt jump starting the camper. I am surprised with the battery under the floor there aren’t jumper terminals under the hood. Jumper packs can save the day. Have one in each of our vehicles.
I live on San Juan Island and yes, the ferry can be a ginormous pain in the behind! But it is worth it, life here is just a bit slower and sweeter. I am an aspiring full timer and we store our TT in Anacortes because it costs $300 to get it on the island. May I ask what campground/RV Park you were at? Always looking for good ones close by for weekend trips!
I bet your knee hit the light selector when getting out. I had a jeep and my Chevy truck have the same, or similar, selector in the same spot. I can't tell you how many times my knee has hit it and I walked away with my lights on during the day 😡
Lets Clarify something. It is the only Federally owned land that can legally raise the British flag. Thankfully the first amendment allows us to raise any flag we want.
Marissa, so proud of you. As a union ironworker, you are the first person on any RV channel that I have seen flag any one into a spot using hand signals and doing it right. Cup your hand and flick your fingers to move forward and then close your hand as the stop signal. YOU ROCK GIRL !!!!!!!

at 19:21 in the video its the red round part it pushes back to put the positive cable to it

oh too late but there are posts under the hood for jumping
Thanks!
I again am moved by the joy you folks take in life, learning and fellowship. Always look forward to your videos!

Super vlog, looked like you had a great adventure, love hearing about the history. ❤️🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed it. Blessings

It’s so beautiful 🤩
POPCORN! Ah ha ha - boy after my own heart. Alpacas crack me up. Oh my - totally forgot about "London Bridge".
WOW thanks for the memories. Spent a lot of summers there. Yes we have the best clam chowder. Lol

Reason for their fluffy top knot is the hair in that area does not grow back when cut.
Interesting 🧐

You need to get one of those jumper packs. They come in so handy.
We have one just didn’t have it with us!
Love the San Juan Islands and the ferry trips. Hope your battery does OK.
It did!

😅
Have you checked out Deception Pass? Love that area
😂 Great video. ❤ Alpacas they’re so cute.

Welcome to the life of depending on the Washington state ferry!
😅😅😅
Beautiful pic of Marissa on the thumbnail!
Glad you had buddies there to jump y'all.
It was so fun!!
I lived on San Juan Island for 2 years back in the 80s. Back then the ferries were always off scheduled but it was referred by the locals as "Island Time" where everything was late.
That makes sense!!
What a place for a battery!!

I lived in Anacortes for 27 years

Our catchphrase as full-time RVers too, thanks to Marissa! 😉
That’s what helps us get through so much!

We visited the same island a few weeks ago with other full time rv friends!
Awesome 👏
There are terminals under the hood for connecting a battery charger or jumper cables. You do not have to get into the battery compartment at all.
Thanks!!
On a class a b and c you turn on the generator it will recharge the batterys so the rig can start !!
Thanks!
We visited there in June…thinking of volunteering at the NPS site there in 2026.
It sounds like an amazing volunteer opportunity!

That was quite the Journey. The wife's sister lives on Vancouver Island 🇨🇦
It’s very special here!
There are jumping posts in the engine compartment to jump the engine. lol
Thanks!
We're going to be in that area. Now I have to re-think it (going on the ferry) after watching this. But, we probably will anyway. Lol
You should go!
Wow! Seems very busy. When did you guys go?
Also when you park the class c and go away for a couple of hours switch the red battery switch turn disconnect the batterys so this doesn't happen again

@@LessJunkMoreJourney It was! We ran into a late ferry also.
We fly the British flag here in Lake havasu city home of the London Bridge
Oh that’s Interesting
It should have remote battery terminals under the hood.🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for the tip
There is a positive and negative posts under the hood for jump starting. My car has the battery under the seat.
Oh wow! Wish I’d known that!

Right 😝
❤❤❤❤❤
❤️
Spent alot of time there in the early 80’s before it became Marthas Vineyard West.
So sad to watch it californicated……..
The ferry’s are fun but the fleet is aging so boats break down a lot your safer if you visit whidbey island at least you can drive off if you need to
Yes.
Really you two, should’ve looked into Washington’s ferry system a little more. If you budget 4 hours double it and cross your fingers.
Thanks 😊
WSF problem is the our Governor I sleep fault, and it's a embarrassment.
So why did the battery go dead???
We think we may have bumped something that drained it
I bet your knee hit the light selector when getting out. I had a jeep and my Chevy truck have the same, or similar, selector in the same spot. I can't tell you how many times my knee has hit it and I walked away with my lights on during the day 😡
That’s likely!
She should be more specific. The United Nations flies the Union Jack🏴☠
Thanks!
Any idea why the ferry's are so eratic? That could turn an adventure into a nightmare.
Usually they are canceled for weather, tides, and staffing. Yes it can make a day trip a stress trip!
@@selightfritz642 Thanks!
There are a lot of variables with ferry’s especially when people rely on them for commuting.
Had a chuckle reading that Llama's listen to Norwegian death metal
😝😝😝

That is the most ridiculous place for an RV battery I've ever seen. WHY? No. I would have broken mentally at that point. Ha Ha.
