This movie is my favorite iteration of Batman. He's actually being a detective for once. And honestly I think this batmobile is cool af. The romance was played right too. I want more of the Batman. I want the DCU to be this.
It would be hard to capture this type of magic in other characters unless Matt Reeves directs every film. They can't do what Marvel has been doing since 2008, but this universe solely focused on Batman is more than enough. Can't wait to see what's next.
I honestly am not sure if it's a stand alone universe like on one hand I don't yet see this batman being the justice league batman but I also know they mentioned metropolis in a book or in a commentary or somthing confirming metropolis is a place in this universe
Are you telling me he was not a detective in the dark knight series? Arguably an even better batman in that trilogy.
@@Cf-ik9dznope bale detectives batman moment wasn't that great..
@@get_obliterat8642 Bale’s batman reconstructed bullet shrapnel to recreate the fingerprint mark of shooter… You need to rewatch the movie.
Reeves is just incredible. He’s so knowledgeable and passionate about everything Batman. You can really tell.
Batman is starting to become the Britney Spears of Super Hero’s. The lore is so over saturated right now with 4 different Batman’s not part of the same universe to go along with 3 different jokers.

Yeah I hope this is in the Batman 2! It works so well.
As a Batman fan from a kid I have to say this is the best version. You guys hit the mark with this series
This just goes to show Joker is a definitive wildcard character. You can give him almost any personality and it always works. Heaths was so Charasmatic it’s nice to see the change. This is the most REAL deppiction of Batman and his world problably ever created
I think it works with any personality because the Joker is a meme by the real sociological/anthropologic definition (sorry if that sounds pretentious). He's an exaggerated version of a kind of person I think we see crop up from time to time. Or at least an attitude we see.
I hope Matt Reeves makes more than just trilogy, so many stories to tell than just 3
Hope not. I want to see other movies from this guy. Not just dedicate 20 years to Batman.
@@shauner8754 shut up , get out
@@shauner8754 Matt Reeves crafts these films intricately and with a lot care to detail so i doubt we'd be getting these films every year or every other year, that could give Matt a lot of time to make other movies in between.
Thats why we getting the HBO shows.
Agreed. They need to explore villains no other Batman movie has.
The Batman opened a lot of doors , there’s so much potential for this version of Batman, three movies is not enough I hope matt makes 5 or 6 movies for the batman & I’m all for it🦇🖤
They’ll probably make shows instead of movies a lot cheaper and there’s a lot more time to focus more on the characters and world

Same, I simply can't wait for when we start hearing info about the sequel.

Roman numerals are better to denote the part numbers (ie. The Batman II).
@@IsraelNowIsraelForever I'd prefer they used non-numbered titles for the sequels in a similar fashion to the last Planet of the Apes trilogy like Heart of The Batman, Silence of The Batman, etc... As has been suggested.
@@themadtitan7603 like Roman numerals u mean ?
I've had my fill of Joker portrayals on Film. But this one works for me since we dont get a full depiction again. A rough showcase at what this Universe is like and how dark it is. Shows us a foggy image and leaves out imagination to fill in the gaps
Matt Reeves is easily one of our best modern filmmakers at this point.
There is more Gotham feeling in this one than other ones. It’s more Raw
This Joker doesn't have quite the same power of, say, Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger, but it does have its own creepiness. Like hearing a child laughing in your house at midnight, and you don't have any children.

jack was the best joker
This is the proves that joker always one step ahead of batman..he’s smart, cunning and have a dark joke ..I think this joker is smarter than riddler
@@Elamado97 Not inherently, the villain can still win in a story or be one step ahead while losing. In this scene for example although the joker has been busted he now has a deeper understanding of batman. He can use that in the future, and in most adaptations joker tends to toy with batman rather then genuinely wanting to succeed.
@@Elamado97 it wasn’t in TDK, the joker won in the end.
Is that's why he's locked up?
I understand all the reasons this was cut, but it is a tragedy that what turned out to be one of the best acted scenes in recent years ended up on the cutting room floor.
Matt Reeves have such a nice, soft voice. I like listening to him.
This could be the greatest post credit scene ever made....
I watch this after finishing the movie so......for me it came after credits..
There's no doubt that this movie is amazing ❤️
Agreed
The Batman is a love story to the art of directing, editing, camera work and make up. Like a film should be not just the popularity/skill of an actor.
Would love this scene to be added in the movie on physical release.
Me too, that’s what I’m hoping for
We'll have to see what they do for the DVD, it's already out on UA-cam...
They don’t add it back in, but the deleted scene is shown with some of the movie footage before it, so you know where it was supposed to go. ;)
@@KevvoLightswiftsequel?
Batman is now in safe hands.
Matt Reeves ❤️
This is the essence of the scene between Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham in Thomas Harris' book, 'Red Dragon'.
They should have kept this scene; there feels like an awkward scene jump in the final cut as a result. And even more awkward is that Joker has better teeth than me.
I noticed that too. There is this almost terrified look that Batman has that doesn't exactly transition well into the next scene.
Also this scene creates a continuation with the other scenes that happen at Arkham.
This joker is the scariest joker I've ever seen
This Joker is on Heath Ledger's level, and maybe even better
@@BryonLetterman Heath ledger joker never laughed like this. This joker is way better at creepiness
This should of been kept in the Movie in some way , i really look forward to more.
This is an interesting take on the character, I assumed the disfigurement would be from chemical burns but he's saying he was born this way which actually makes him darker and more sinister than possibly most versions of Joker. If this is the style Matt enjoys going with I do hope we get to see Scarface/Ventriloquist in a film, even if they are just in one scene getting beat up or something I think Matt could find a way do it with how out of the box and daring his style is. Also, when I say daring I mean not mainstream where everyone has to look pretty and flawless for the camera.
Joker also Lies nonstop about his origin sooooooooo
Its probably both
Or Professor Pyg. Reeves could do something truly horrifying with Pyg as a villain.
This scene is masterpiece! And this Joker is incredible 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How do you know? Where can it be watched?
Sounds like I'm listening to Michael cera explain the scene 😂😂
I find it interesting how Matts idea of the joker indirectly is very similar to what Todd and Joaquin did with theirs when it comes to their trauma in their congenital diseases
One has a laughing disorder and the other is a elephant man. Dont see the comparison 🥴
Yeah I noticed that too
I wish this had been re-inserted back into the movie for the home release. Its such an awesome scene
I wish they make it series than a movie. If it will be block buster in Netflix
Specific actin on the joker character
After the scene in The Dark Knight where he kills the Batman pretender, Heath Ledger has been the scariest and best Joker to me. It's too early to tell with so little screen time, but I think this may be my new scariest Joker.
The sins of the father
The man who laughs
I'm sure batsman's parents didn't make billions by being nice
Mark hamill and Kevin Conroy were the most interesting versions of their characters and while Mark's joker was spooky, Kevin's Batman was never unnerved by him. Somehow live action has never been able to make Batman mentally that strong. I had high hopes for Batfleck in that way but this new Batman is very dominating and smart but also very real. Let's hope we get the same bat-joker dynamics we got in the most beloved animated superhero series ever
Barry Keoghan NAILED IT as the Joker! I’m so excited for The Batman 2 and its spin-offs more than the rest of the DCEU!
This joker had huge potential. Looked like they finally doing the vat of chemicals thing seriously...stop changing jokers back story his original back story works just fine.....
I love this Batman, great work Matt Reeves
This joker has the perfect crazy creepiness... so much potential...
This is already my favorite joker so far. It’s too unique to say “eh”
exactly. ppl judge too quickly
@@Elamado97 how is this generic? This look and backstory has never been done.
@@Matthew-yr4lx As someone that likes it, he's very much taking a lot of inspiration from Heath Ledger's joker, and the idea of joker having a deep understanding of batman and having lots of experience with him was done in the killing joke. He does a great job with it but it is still somewhat derivative.
@@kirbles2035 I totally agree with your opinion. My only fear is that they will mess up the character
@@Matthew-yr4lx looks like trash tbh and plus this backstory of his disease has been done before, just not in the movies
I’d like to think of this scene as not a part of the film but a short film that is cannon
I actually really like this perspective of yours.
Here after the sequel was announced!! Hoping for Mr Freeze and Scarecrow get the story they deserve!
Thankyou Matt Reeves ❤️
Despite my thinking that not using Joker in this new Batman series is a better call, what Reeves talks about in this version of the character has me interested. I still think using villains who haven't gotten their due like Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, Two-Face, or even villains that have yet to be onscreen like Man-Bat, Clayface, or Mad Hatter.
This is my favorite joker so far. Ledgers version was the most charismatic and Phoenix did something amazing and believable. This has the potential to be a great combination of the two.
Love that you skipped over one.
@@TimOrenstein I really don’t mind Letos take. He was in a terrible movie. But he’s clearly on the bottom of the list.
This belonged in the movie. Cannot wait to see more of Barry’s performance of this character.
It would’ve undermined the impact of the Riddler interrogation, not to mention the Joker isn’t even a significant character in the film anyway.
It was also likely cut for time, as the film was already pushing three hours.
@@RB01.10you think its gonna appear in the sequel? Throwing this scene away would be sad
flawless movie
"For ME" -Matthew Reeves 2022
Great joker. the slasher vibe works excellent however that laugh seemed forced. the joker doesn’t really need to try that hard to be creepy especially if he was born that way. But yeah I do think that this joker def could work since he is so different than the other versions
I love the thought process behind this version of Joker
I love his smile and teeth.
If you guys ever bring killer croc for the next or third movie, let Ron Perlman be the voice actor!
I like how this Joker was set up. Feels very much like Joker from Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth meets Grant Morrison and Scott Snyder’s takes on the clown Prince of chaos
On the blu ray release I hope there is two cuts of the film. The theatrical cut of the film and the cut with this scene in the movie. I know it's very unlikely, but it will be cool if there was.
I would love it if they made a directors cut with the scene in the movie.
I think it'd be weird to have an entire different cut just to include one mor escene.
@@themadtitan7603 to each their own 🤷🏻♂️

Brilliant!
It's interesting he envisioned this as a proto joker, seeing this scene I got the impression this was fully formed joker who had been taken down by batman prior to the movie.
Just my head Canon, but what if joker is the creator of drops and some of the scars are are burns from creating the drug. Batman finds his lab and joker gets burned with the chemicals while fighting
Drops have been around far too long for that to he the case. They've been around for prolly more than 2 decades. Nice idea, though.

It's a pity the 4k disc won't have the director's cut for this scene, instead it'll thrown into blu ray bonus features.

this has to be the best iteration of joker . he is creepy, smart and gets in ur head and knows what to do and say to make his victim realize it is took late
This should have been in the movie _after_ Riddler was imprisoned, as a mindgame from Batman just for the purpose of getting Joker’s 2 cents.
Great commentary 👏
Please announce the sequel …
they did
WB just give Matt Reeves the David Yates deal and let him construct, direct and write a series of films in this BATMAN universe!
There’s many more places to go like a 12-15 yr old Robin, Death in the Family, Court of Owls…
Need to see this through Matt’s prism. Make it so!
David Yates? You love vanilla?
1:39 & 5:31 Put on A Happy FACE...
*Seemed like burns to me. And someone recent at that*
Love the dark creepy feeling ..as batman should be. This joker looks amazing...wish he would have left it in. This by far is my favorite batman movies. He is suppose to be dark, not walk out with a suit and tie and act like a millionaire.... best batman ever
Arkham city hospital: the series
thats what always make the Joker versus Batman conflict so deep and interesting its because they are both lost souls, they are both tortured souls, holding on a lot of deep pain, and they are just 2 sides of the same coin..... it always feels like Batman, Bruce Wayne has to work hard to contain that darkness... to contain the Joker inside of him.... while the joker gets to be free and embrace the chaos and the animal instincts and the darkness and madness. Which like I said.... its all already contained inside Batman. I'm so glad Matt Reeves gets that notion, that profound concept.
Completely changed my perspective on this version of Joker. Conceptually, this is at least as strong as what Nolan put together. But, I'd say the performance needs some work. Based on what Reeves talked about, I feel like this Joker's power won't be in how he behaves, but in how he doesn't, if that makes any sense. A person who's all but weaponized the fact people are uncomfortable looking at him should be a little less random and crazy, and a little more deliberate and still.
i love how he dont even mention leto
Yeh I love this but this would've made the movie feel like 4 hours
semi-agree i love the movie but i felt it dragged even if only a bit
Kind of annoying that the commentary is apparently an iTunes exclusive. I think if you're paying for thr blu-ray or certainly the 4K physical release, it should really be on there.
But I saw this scene in the cinema ... Bangladesh... wasn't cut
I'm kinda shocked to see Barry Keoghan as Pattinson's Joker.

nice one . the truth is that the trilogy brought batman back , as for the joker ... for me is hard someone to b better than heath or the dramatic side that joakin gave. altho its time to see more villains that havent been seen .that can really lvl up this project
So he isn't gonna be a part of the Batman's next movies?
An amazing movie 😍😍😍😍
Joker will be in Batman 2 but only in the same way as Hannibal Lector, escaping Arkham at the end.
Stop trying to out do the last guy on how grotesque you can make Joker. He doesn’t need to be a deformed freak. Just a freak.
hie is this not a full fledged Joker? He has all the characteristics of a complete joker.
