Thanks for inviting someone with a different journey.
I went with the bone anchored hearing aid route and was freaked out by the stapedectomy procedure. It's refreshing to see and hear someone have such a different story than myself.
Keep up the amazing work! your page reaches and influences so many in the otosclerosis and hard of hearing community.
I just had a stapedectomy on Monday in my left ear. Thanks for posting videos like these to get people’s perspective on the surgery. I had an incus that was a deformed chunk of bone and a missing stapes. He was able to carve out my incus into shape and used a prosthesis for the new stapes. I had around 90% loss in my left ear before surgery. The packing is still in there and I can hear blood rushing through my ear with a bunch of new sounds that I haven’t heard before. This far, the recovery has been easier than I thought it was going to be and I look forward to having significant hearing improvements in a few months when I’m all healed up!
@@Jacobpayer thanks for sharing! I hope you have a speedy recovery
Sybylla is my daughter. She is a beautiful, amazing woman. Im so grateful for her and so grateful that this surgery worked for her❤❤❤
I had surgery almost 3 and half month ago,
Right after surgery, when packing removed, i have much improved hearing,
But right now i have again feeling gradual hearing loss, reason?
I would like to share my story. I am about to have this surgery but still feeling kind of worried at the same tiem of being super positive about the outcome.
I wish you all the best! Despite my surgeries not being 100% successful (I still have mild hearing loss) I still recommend them. It is far easier to find a successful hearing aid solution with less hearing loss. I was nearly completely deaf before my surgery, my hearing aids were huge and there were a lot more complications. Mind you this was 15 years ago so things sure could have improved since then but I still encourage you to go for it!!
Since I lost my hearing and wasn't deaf from birth I feel like I and my family would have had a really hard time learning sign language and integrating into the deaf community. For that reason restoring my hearing was the right path for me. I am now exploring the BAHA device! I would like to see if it works for me!
