It’s always a good idea to change as much out as you can when things are difficult I do agree. But time and availability play a role and make it had to fix everything in one go

Good video, thanks for sharing. I’ve been searching for any videos that cover remove and replacing the COP boots/coils/seals on the existing coils. I may just have to wing it and do it Rambo style. We was having all kinds of problems with ares missing hesitation jumping idle funny it was the throttle position sensor but you got to buy the whole throttle body ares is like new
The way they are numbered in a traverse from my understanding is like this 2. 4. 6. 0 0 0 0 0 0 1. 3. 5. So 2 should be the back left if I'm not mistaken. Double check with your manual as this is just my understanding and I am NOT a mechanic
The front passenger will be your number 2. The motor is in the car sideways so technically the front of the engine is the passenger front wheel. The back row next to the firewall or the cab will be 1. 3. 5. Then the front of the car will be 2. 4. 6 B Back of car T E 1. 3. 5. R L 2. 4. 6. A T Front of car N
The one thing you didn't show. How the heck did you get the 3 long bolts out of the back of the intake? I can't pull them out because the top of the firewall is in the way.
Hi. Nice job on the Video. I have been having the same type of fluctuation with the RPM's. I put in ShudderFix and it helped it a bit. After doing some research it seems to be a common issue with the Torque Converter going bad. I am having mine replaced and will let you know if that fixes it.
That would be amazing if you would keep me posted. I have tried multiple things trying to fix it with no luck. Everything is leaning towards the torque converter but I’m probably going to put a whole new trans in it
My wife's 09 drove me insane trying to figure out the shudder, replaced all the coils and plugs at once and no fix, ordered the wave plates and then spoke to a transmission guy and he told me to go with the Torque Converter. I pulled the trans and replaced the wave plates and put a new TQ Converter and now she drives like new again! The wave plates were discolored but not broke so more than likely the Converter was the issue
Stop with the PVC towards the end of the video. The individual coils. The individual coils are next in line for faults. Don't go jumping all over. A spark plug is the first domino in the entire electrical system. If you wanted to jump around. The unturned oil would mess with the. O 2 sensor. Take it out. (Without breaking it). Clean it in acetone. Put it back in. There's 3 or 4 each.
That’s what it’s been feeling like. Very strange that it will be driving along and all of a sudden just shake like crazy till you let off or speed up then it’s fine. Definitely more prominent when there is a slight incline
Really? It’s having a really bad shake when you try to give it a little gas to speed up or go up a hill. Sounds like it’s pointing to the transmission though. There are several people that are having the same problem
@@ModdingAddiction See if it will shake giving it gas while in neutral. The one I worked on was like you described when accelerating.These coils on these engines are known for being problematic.
Hey! Your video helped a ton! My wife has a 2104 traverse AWD with 120k. Ours gives a shake between 2nd and 3rd gear. I was leaning towards new spark plugs. Your video made me feel confident that I can do it myself and I did. Didn’t help with the shake but did need to be be done. Question, with the research I’ve been doing I’m leaning towards a CV axle on the passenger side. I have been noticing a knock when pulling into a parking lot. Do you think this could be possible and maybe why it shakes while going a certain speed? Thanks in advance.
I’m glad that it has help someone out. The spark plugs were what I thought was wrong with my wife’s car but it’s looking like a transmission. Was hoping it was an easy fix lol. A CV axle would cause shaking but it would be a constant shake. Wheels can sometimes have a shake at a certain speed and go away when they become unbalanced. I would try rotating the fronts to the back and see if that helps with it. If it does then it’s wheel. If it doesn’t then it’s deeper but it is easy and cheap. Hopefully that helps keep me posted on what you find out
It did 1 time for maybe a minute turned on and right back off so I went and got it scanned for codes and it was p0989 and p0877 for a transmission fluid pressure sensor. They said it's common and the computer just needs replaced so 1300 later and all is good
Anyone with a shudder problem? Mines does it at 30 mph but goes away a if you speed up. Replaced torque converter, front CV axels and still nothing. Any idea what could be wrong?
Great video. I had a coil fail 150 miles into the a 400 mile road trip. It was coil 1 which was tricky to get without removing manifold. Questions- Were you able to get 1, 3, and 5 without removing the manifold? I really don't want to
Yes you can get to all of the coils without taking the manifold off. You have to remove the Plastic cover to get the extra clearance and wear a long sleeve. There is a fiberglass mat on the firewall that makes it super itchy if you don't. You will have to do a little mechanicing by braille but it is doable. Watch the video and I go over how to accomplish the job in detail.
changed the fuel filter pulled the old gas out put new gas in. Im leaning towards a fouled injector. It is only really happening in one cylinder. but it randomly goes to another then the original problem is gone. It's a tricky one.
@@wolfheart2443Reach your hands back there, unplug the coil connector, get onto the bolt with a 10mm socket, carefully wiggle the coil up and out. The tricky part is getting the right length extension and socket to get the plug out. Yes, it can be done without removing the intake. But to be honest, the intake manifold can come off rather quickly. If so, you should install new gasket and torque the bolts in proper sequence.
k... I have a 2014 Traverse 80k miles. I bought the plugs and I'll do it, however lots of videos show removal of intake maifold.... I'm not doing that. I can get at the back ones. Thanks
That is correct. I was able to get them out without taking the intake off. It saved a lot of time and I didn’t mess with the OEM seals. Make sure to have a couple different lengths of extensions and you should be fine. Good luck with the plugs
@@ModdingAddiction so, today Easter Sunday I changed out the plugs on my 2016 traverse. took about an hour and a half. Mine had 74k miles on it. Excellent video! The only thing I did bad was the very first plug in the back after i put the new one in was i didnt realize the socket was still on the plug. So im trying to put the coil pack back on and it wouldn't go. I tried for about 10 minutes. Took the plug back out and had to use gorilla tape to hold the socket to the extension. Other than my stupid mistake everything went just like your video. little tough to get the back ones but definitely worth it to not have to take off the intake manifold off like some of the other videos. Thanks again!

To each their own but as much a pain as these are I'd recommend changing coil packs

Need fuel injector cleaner added to the gas, plus spray the mass air flow device inside the intake with proper cleaner. And change the air filter.
A OBDII tester would be a good addition to your tool box, not too expensive. Save you over guess work.Then just look up the codes it gives you.

Do you recommend replacement coils at the same time as well? Or just plugs will do the job..
Plugs are good place to start as they are a maintenance item. If you have the means then yeah it’s always best to have the newest parts possible

I managed to keep the intake on the car. I was able to get my hand back in there and just undo the coil pack bolts. Hopefully that helps

Every situation is different and it’s an educated guess at this point trying to fix the cheap items first is never a bad call

Dont be surprised if if it is the torque converter... 2009 chevy traverse torque converter was replaced at 98000 miles..
Symptoms was funny RPM jumps during some shifts..

Almost certain that the ignition coils are your problem. Recommend to change both the coils and sparks plugs at the same time.

My 12 did this I had to replace the computer in the transmission

Just had the transmission changed with the shudder it’s definitely the trans they put a new torque converter also
Maybe it needs a reprogramming after torque converter is changed?
Also, make sure throttle body is cleaned really well, and make sure coils/plugs are good and not misfiring

Its hard enough to get your fingers in there let alone a camera lol. Hopefully I did a good enough job explaining what I was doing.
But then again some say the back ones can't be done without taking the manifold cover off. By what we see in this video, We will never know.

Way more than there should have been. I believe that it had 113k on it. A good rule of thumb is about 60k on a set
