    This method is a waste of time you don’t need to soak the rice at all. Just rinse it and then steam it for 25 minutes you’re done

      Bamboo adds flavor BTW id recommended a rice cooker just set n forget it

      The rice has a better consistency and is less sticky. There is also a faster way. Use jasmine rice, wash your rice, put it in boiling water for ~3minutes, pour off the water and put the rice in the steamer, steam it for ~10minutes and you are done.

    I soaked my rice for 24 hours! Then steamed with this method exactly. I cooked it and kept adding water for 1 and a half hours and still not done! Why does this take so long? Why on gods earth would anyone cook rice this way when you can cook it in 20 minutes in a pot without pre soaking???

      same here, I used so much gas trying to cook it I gave up and threw it in a pan of water. It was done in 5 minutes (I assume it was at least part cooked by steamer)

      You probably cover rice with something that reject steam. The uploader is covering with a thin cloth that allow steam to heat rice easy.
      Or your steamer is leaking

    If you want perfect rice, get an electric pressure cooker. You will have perfect white rice in 10 mins and brown rice in 15 minutes.

      But it will not have all the nutrients as it is pressure cooked and fast cooked. Slow cooking retains all nutrients. No one has the time for that in this modern world.

      Use the dry, par-boiled fast cooking rice. Soak for 30-45 mins before steaming.

    Rice cooker or boil rice over electric stove or traditional stove is way easier……over nite rice then u steam them.

      @@arnie_soup Do you wash it before you purchase it from the store because of chemicals in it. And then after you'd use it how do you wash it I'm thinking maybe not with detergent because that could get in your food just wondering

      @@barbra429 'Wash in the washing machine or by hand in the sink. Avoid detergents and fabric softeners. Use only mild detergent if necessary, and rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residue. If there are bits of curd sticking to the cloth, rinse with whey or white vinegar to help remove it.' - google's best advice :)

      @@thedude4795 seriously?? I usually cook mine in a pot (without any soaking) and it comes out perfect in 20 minutes. This method from the video takes way way longer! I just got a bamboo steamer to cook with. Are you saying they barely work? What kind of rice did you use? Did you use a muslin cloth?

    Uhoh, I rarely cook rice because I can't wait for 15 minutes until water boils and rice is done. Soak for 12h, get steaming cloth somewhere, cook for 40 minutes... the whole day is gone!

    It looks like a cheese cloth. Don’t think there’s much of a benefit cooking rice this way it’s just a method. Some will say you lock in more nutrients.

    This is a misleading video on steaming rice. The method is called "mov vum cub" You soak the rice over night (or you could pour hot water on the rice and let it soak for 20 mins) then you pour the water and rinse the rice and place it on the steamer for 15 mins, then place the rice on a bowl add hot boiling water about 1 inch above the rice, let it soak for 10 mins, then place it back to the steamer for 8 or 10 minutes and it's done.

    Perfect Rice.....Dehydrated Minute Rice, 1 part Rice, 1 part hot water, cover let sit for at least 30 minutes. add Chopped Roasted Chicken, Teriyaki sauce and Chopped Green Onions. Meal for .50 cents
