Just purchased of of these bad boys! Amazon had a refurbished model for 40% off and I had a couple gift cards laying around (employee rewards from work). Score! Got it for less than $200. My side hustle is a tie dye business and this sucker is gonna enable me to do ice dyes whenever I want rather than waiting for my stupid slow fridge ice maker to refill.
I have one, love it, but one of my hoses is not draining and the ice maker is now making a horrible noise. Any suggestions on how I can get the draining to start? Thanks.
Only WTWT would have set furniture failure and leave it in the video, keepin' it real yo! Love this guy. Matt, since they sent you both clear/nugget makers, how about an ice skirmish to check vendor's claims about clear ice not fizzing or melting as quick as nugget ice?
I bought the Opal Nugget maker awhile back. The very first thing I did was drop it from decently high up trying to get it out of the box....almost onto my 3 year old. Those things are HEAVY!
There is also a 26lb version from New air that is not as nice looking but looks to be serviceable for about 140$. Not 450$ like this one. Thanks for the review though!
I bought this icemaker about a year ago and it stopped working. I have tried cleaning it and have always used filtered water. For the price I would hope it lasted longer. Would not recommend.
I had one for 7 months until the plastic ice shoot broke into pieces into the ice bucket. B/c this was a replacement for the lower quality model I had for 6 months before it started squealing like an alternator belt. I made sure to maintain the machines b/c they are expensive as hell! When I contacted the manufacturer they would only give me a 40%coupon to purchase another machine. I will not buy another New air product.
I got one of these and then promptly returned it. It doesn't spit out the "good ice". It gives you hard and solid little cube pellets. Sure, they're easier to break with your teeth due to the reduced volume of the cubes, but it's a far cry from what I expect out of places like Sonic or Chick-Fil-A. Do yourself a favor and get the Wamife instead. It doesn't have container volume of the Newair, but: 1) You don't need it. Just bag the ice when it gets full and stash it in the freezer for when you need it. 2) It produces the actually shaved and compacted nuggets you expect from a quality product, not a gimmick that lets you down.
For the true ice connoisseur, nugget ice is a delicacy. The only thing better (IMHO) is cracked ice. But I digress. This machine has to be a god-send. I might just get one for myself.
