Classic mid-90s Liverpool ... Capable of playing INCREDIBLE matches like this, and looking like WINNERS with a never say die spirit ... Then in the following fixture we lost 1-0 to bloody Coventry!!
I remember. I felt like our title hope was alive and then lost it all a week later. I was like all that for this. Part of me felt maybe we shouldn’t have helped United win the title. Liverpool were consistently inconsistent back then.
The game is classic. Collymore last goal was on Vietnam TV's Sportnews intro for over a decade. The game is also the reason why we bought EPL broadcasting right in the following season. 1998
Love the bit at the beginning of this where Kevin Keegan is taking time to sign autographs. He once said that the best piece of advice about faans he ever got was from Stanley Matthews. Matthews said to him: "If a fan asks for your autograph and it means missing a train, then make sure you miss the train." A legend.
Best game in Premier League history, with teams in two of the best kits in Premier League history, in the best season in Premier League history. Probably best looking players on a single pitch in Premier League history too. Bastards! 😂
Remember this as my favourite Premier League game of all time. We had a lads night in and watched it live on Sky. It was none-stop action from start to finish, and Newcastle were real contenders for the title that season, a great side, but this match killed off their challenge. What this video doesn't show is the reaction of the Toon fans after the final whistle - they were in a state of total shock and devastation.
"... real contenders for the title ...". They were 12 points clear in the new year, and still had a good lead and a game in hand until late in February, and then they lost 5 of the next 7 games (this game being the fourth loss from that run), but this game and that run didn't kill their title challenge, because they were still in contention (2pts behind Shited) on the final day of the season.
And now Liverpool are the Premier League champions European cup champions the super cup champions and the club World Cup champions what time to be alive
I was just a teenager in the US - I was up studying for something or another - and this game was on ESPN 2 - likely a replay from a few days before. I fancied Newcastle at the start - US showed few of their games that season and I didn't know much about Liverpool. Once Collymore scored the equalizer and the go ahead - seeing Anfield erupt - I've been a supporter ever since. YNWA
I was at this match. 5 of us flew over from Dublin for the day. I cheered every Liverpool goal at the top of my lungs. I was fucking ecstatic. Reason being, unlike my 4 mates who are Liverpool supporters, I am a lifelong United supporter. I knew that every goal the Scousers scored meant United would win the league. True story. 🙂. MUFC !
@@seancrowe3353 yessss!!! That was a epic moment! Not sure if it was same match but I remember the commentator saying "Liverpool lead in stoppage time, keegan hangs his head".both those 4-3 games were brilliant
This game is so entartaning, but the defending is so bad, english soccer is so better in terms of tactics today however the players today are not better then the 90s players.
one of the only times as a Manchester United supporter i was hoping loserpool would win. and keegan slumped over the advertising hoarding is still a favourite memory for me. thanks lpool. now lose all your matches in 2021!
What a classic, don't get many games like this anymore, pure football, none of this VAR. There were simply too many good players back then with the top teams, could easily beat the current players. This was a game where you remember what you were doing at the time.
Fowler, Les Ferdinand, Ginola, Asprilla, Collymore - all goalscorers are legends !
Yes he is
Stan “the man” Collymore

I cried after that Coventry game and I've never taken football as seriously since. Better that way
that's sum up liverpool in early epl days

RIP Peter Brackley (the commentator)
what a commentator. no bias, respect towards both sides. this is what commentary should be about. rip indeed

Amazing game to watch back then, still amazing to watch now. Fantastic game. Some really talented players on display, on both sides.
Pavel Srniceck RIP. Heart attack victim. 🙏

An absolute stone cold classic. The game of the 90s. And the following season they played out the same scoreline!
Back when Newcastle was actually good
Times change, my friend... Oh how do they change.

I had liverpool kit as a 10yr old loved it and to date this match along with thee other one remain embezzled in my brain heart and history❤ ynwa ❤❤❤❤❤
David James calamitous goalkeeping was the reason for both 4-3 games. Absolutely awful keeper.
rem this game it was just awesome as a neutral to watch, i felt bad for Keegan as he was a childhood idol of mine
What a match!
I was in the paddock stand for this game and what an incredible game it was
I was there and if Anfield had had a roof it would have been blown off. What a night.
Many old liverpool supporter say this is best match of them life
Not the same without Martin Tyler and Andy Gray on the mics.
COLLYMORE CLOSING INNNNNNNN
That wasn’t them
01:30 fantastic suit!
Should’ve won the league that year or the next that team was class
When you're so early that there's no dislikes
Root Box when you’re so late that there’s seven dislikes.
When you’re so late that there are no dislikes anymore.
What a Game 🔝🔝🔝
Calamity James cost us atleast one Premier League trophy in the 90s
Outside of penalty area saving. Or would be outside of penalty area saving. He was even worse with money.
Before he got his playstation he was class. Caught anything in the air, after he got addicted to gaming he was never the same
love this match.
Great game. With 2 great clubs
one of best premier league match so far
Today 30/4/2022 will meet together . We need a dramatic win like this . YNWA
R.I.P Newcaste goalie.

Oh my, Newcastle struggled at left back...
This will never not be hilarious.
Bet there was plenty of Utd fans cheering Liverpool on.
The first time I feel sad that Liverpool won a match 😂😂😂 Newcastle and Alan Shearer deserved a Premier League title.
Alan Shearer had one. And he didn’t play for Newcastle that season
Who here after Carvalho's Goal ??????
Utd won the prem with just 75 points.
Look at Newcastle now
Yeah look at us now
The next game! PIPPA behind back's! Newcastle 1 Liverpool 4 Owen hat-trick!
well done on handing man utd the title and starting their domination, we will return the favour on saturday⚫⚪

Probably true. Look at 03:54, the defence is SO open wide
Phil babb, John scales, better at modelling than defending :) McAteer only went forwards :)
Crowd noises recorded inside an empty bean can ...
Here after Newcastle got bought by the Saudis.
Kevin Keegan 😳😅
Whys the audio so bad? Can't hear the crowd can only hear the commentator and a loud hissing noise
Must've been a lot of snakes in the crowd.
