Neil Mellor might have played barely 20 games for us but his screamer vs Arsenal and this game's immediate impact, has etched himself as Liverpool legend. Not forgetting, Rafa will always be remembered as the tactical genius. His ability to make best use of his limited resources, think on his feet and tweak his tactic to win is second to none.

Olympiakos had a good team and almost knocked out the later champions league winners, but how far can you go with players like Tasos Pantos, Anatolakis, mediocre defenders and the coach sleeping on the bench during that match.

Way I remember it, Gerrard made a couple of nasty tackles when he was trying to wake up his teamates and should have been expelled much sooner than the goals. Its easy to forget now

I am Greek and a huge Olympiacos fan ! I admit the superiority of Liverpool of course and I love and watch the English Premier League ! Rivaldo was an amazing transfer for us that season and he was amazing all those 3 years that he played for Olympiacos ! I must say that this game and the disqualification still hurts till this day ! Although if I remember correctly someone from Liverpool after winning the CH. L said that the most difficult match from the start till the end was this exact match, and thats a huge honor for us ! Peace guys ... Viva Football ! (the goal from Gerard was amazing, I cant say anything less)

Σημειωτέον, κι αυτό δεν το'χω ακούσει να το λέει κάποιος τόσα χρόνια, σ'αυτό το παιχνίδι πρέπει να έκανε ένα περίεργο αρνητικό ρεκόρ, που λογικά δύσκολο να επαναληφθεί. Μαζί με το 3-1 της Μπαρτσελόνα επί του Παναθηναϊκού, έγινε ο μοναδικός τερματοφύλακας που δύο φορές η ομάδα πήγε σε εκτός να υπερασπίσει σκορ 1-0, προηγήθηκε 0-1 και παρολαυτά κατέληξε να δεχτεί 3 γκολ και να αποκλειστεί.
Καθοριστικό επίσης το λάθος Ζιοβάνι στο φάουλ, που αντί να διώξει καλά ή να αφήσει την μπάλα άουτ, γυρίζει μέσα στη μεγάλη περιοχή και γίνεται το 2-1. Απ'το γκολ του Πογκόλ μέχρι και το λάθος Ζιοβάνι, σχεδόν δεν έχει κάνει φάση η Λίβερπουλ, σε 30 λεπτά. Τέτοια απελπισία έπιασε τον Τζέραρντ που για να τους ξυπνήσει, έκανε και δυο τάκλιν για κόκκινη κάρτα, που δυστυχώς δεν δόθηκε. Απ'την άλλη η διαιτησία μας ευνόησε σε δύο φάσεις με ισάριθμα λάθη Νικοπολίδη(με την κεφαλιά Μπάρος και το εναέριο Τζέραρντ).
